sandy is 10% corrupted currently, and since the corruption was keeping her alive without her helmet, she is able to breathe without her helmet due to being semi corrupted
That also explains how BF breathes underwater.

She is alive, only in this mod the infected can alter their form so that the survivors believe they are dead.
