Crew 1 Mission - Docking | Highlights
Watching this live made me appreciate the fact that I was born in this era.
Head to SpaceX 's youtube channel for more.
According to SpaceX, 'after its approximately six-month stay at the orbiting laboratory, Dragon and the astronauts will return to Earth and splashdown in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida'. Their return will also be broadcasted live.
Shout out to EVERYONE who is part of this.
Dragon Crew: NASA astronauts Mike Hopkins, Victor Glover, Shannon Walker, and JAXA astronaut Soichi Noguchi.

DINOKENG (Opwall - South Africa terrestrial expedition)
Просмотров 1604 года назад
Dinokeng is a Big 5 Game reserve in the province of Gauteng, South Africa. It is basically a 210 km² wildlife sanctuary which offers a novel model for South African conservation as it was developed around existing homesteads and properties. For example, in some parts of the reserve, elephants may be wandering in between private properties whereas in other areas large open swathes of land are av...
MS Zenobia - 40 years since sank

An unfortunate event was the reason that now the East Mediterranean sea has a jewel laying on its seabed. Registered in Sweeden and launched in 1979, MS Zenobia was a Challenger-class RO-RO (roll on / roll off) ferry. On the 4th of May 1980, Zenobia made her maiden voyage bound for Tartous, Syria. She was loaded with 104 articulated lorries of varied cargo. Cargo included cars, military equipme...
Scuba diving in Cyprus (Cyclop's Cave - Protaras, 2020)

Kavo (eng. Cape) Greko National Park, south-east of Cyprus, has some of the best dive sites. Cyclop's cave is one of these. Located at Konnos Bay, it's a lovely location for any activity both above and below the water. Looking south from Cyclop's cave you can see Agioi Anargiroi Chapel which is another beautiful dive site. Nevertheless, my all time favourite is Kavo Greco Sea Caves. I'd love to...

Sodwana Bay is on the KwaZulu Natal north coast. It's ecology is considered to be part of the tropical western Indo-Pacific marine ecoregion. The 50 km reef complex is the habitat of a wide diversity of resident and migratory species. The bay is part of the Sodwana Bay National Park and the Maputaland Marine Reserve (a marine protected area).

Our last days in Eswatini! After spending 10 days at the Savannah Research Centre in Mbuluzi Game Reserve, we stayed 3 days in Malolotja Nature Reserve. If you pay attention to the clips that show the scenery you'll see how it changes from lowveld to highveld grassland.

That was part of a course I took on my second year in Biological Sciences called ‘Conservation, Ecology and Biodiversity in the Tropics’. That was the best teaching experience I've ever had! I’m considering doing the conservation biology bsc course at UEA. Would you recommend the uni (lecturers nice, good opportunities etc.)?

    • @christinakakoulli
      @christinakakoulli 3 года назад

      Absolutely! I am studying biological sciences but most of my modules (which are like subjects) were very conservation oriented. Not only I've learnt so much from the lectures and independent study through the assigned coursework and exams but there was an insane amount of practical sessions too. For example, this module happens every year and you can choose between Eswatini and Peru. I don't show any fieldwork in my videos but we run so many surveys. When you check the modules in UEA' s website, look for a list with the learning outcomes and compare that with other unis. Btw, UEA has a 'Teaching Excellence Framework' Gold award which I guess speaks for itself. The Drs and Profs have an extensive background in research and they are more than happy to help you get an insight. I even had meetings with UEA Profs who did not practically teach me but I was just interested in their field of expertise. I guess you can do that in other universities too but a bonus is that at UEA from day 1, you are assigned an 'Academic Advisor' who's a Dr or Prof and will always keep in touch with you. Moreover, UEA's 'Career Centre' helped me to find volunteering jobs (I have volunteered for the Wildlife Trusts and Norwich Science Festival, both amazing experiences) and later apply for a job. My degree has an integrated placement year and I would recommend that for everyone! Lastly, the reason that I chose UEA over other universities was the insane amount clubs and societies. So many universities have good reputations but there's nothing like the UEA experience. Ofc everyone here is unique in their own way but the fact that you chose this uni is a common factor. People are beyond friendly! We also have the 'Student Union' who's responsible for the perfect organisation of clubs and societies AND student wellbeing. On top of that, the university runs the 'Do something different week', the 'Ziggurat challenge' and many more campaigns/activities to learn more about Norwich, keep you trying new things and getting to meet others. p.s. Norwich has become my fav city (and believe me, I had the chance to stay in many cities across the UK)

      Blue Horizon Diving thanks! Yes, they seem to be made of an organic material though (not nylon or something else). They are pretty still, algae has grown over and thus fish are always hanging around. Eels are often hiding at the bottom. We never found a single fish trapped so I don’t see these ones posing a threat to wildlife. Let me know if you think otherwise.😊
