How oatmeal shampoo helps dogs with sensitive skin
Expert dog behaviourist and dog trainer, Lara Shannon, shares her tips for how to wash dogs with sensitive skin.
There are a number of reasons why dogs get itchy skin, including flea and environmental allergies, as well as seasonal changes. In the winter, skin becomes dry and flaky due to the cold weather and then the heating indoors. In the warmer months, dogs spend more time outdoors, there's more pollens in the air and the humidity is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and skin infections.
Treating skin allergies early is so important. Lara shares her expert tips on how to recognise a dog with skin allergies, and most importantly, how to treat them. So, if your dog is showing signs o...

    That's is probably the mostMmoronicDog training video i have seen in a long time! All you did was really try to prevent the dogs from SEEING what they are barking at? Really? That's your professional advice? Then you let them see what they want to bark at, actually LET THEM BARK AT IT, then call them to you and reward them with a treat? Are you like the village you know what? Please stop immediately calling yourself a dog trainer. You are a stoooppid CONTENT CREATOR for clicks to make money.

    Hi I love pooches at play andI watch it and I get your emails and I also watch it on TV and I watch all your post. I know that you’re connected to Petstock and I know that Woolworths bought into Petstock and I go to the Petstock shop and Zetland I have noticed a new cat box that has been designed to help rehome cats and that’s what it is. A box. I think it’s appalling It’s so small they have got no place to run around. It’s only big enough for one cat, but if they have to Try to rehome brothers or sisters when there’s two of them it’s just impossible. It’s another way of Woolworths gouging money out of the public. It’s such a shame because they need to run a little bit free not be stuck in a pet box like that once you put in their kitty litter and a few toys they’re not going to have any room to play before you design any more please design the BOX much much much much much bigger. I’ve spoken to about 53 people at the park with Dogs and WE ALL go down to Petstock. We all Agree that the new cat box is just a cat box, make it bigger please Woolworths you’ve got a lot of money. Add another section onto the cat box and make it feel a temporary home. Thank you. Woolworths b more of an animal lover not a💰💰💰💰lover.

    I don't believe this one bit. Dogs acting a way in anticipation for a certain reaction based on their misbehaving can be called and acknowledgment of guilt. Not that they "feel guilty" and remorseful and shameful as people do, but they know they did wrong, and they expect punishment.

    my dog has been with me since i was 10, im now 20 and shes 12 and went blind while i was away in school, i wasnt told for a bit and, once i was given the news it was heartbreaking. I had gone home and she scented me from the garage, but couldnt see me and i felt so bad. Once we had gone to the vet and got her insulin, just a few days in and she was just as happy as she was before-if not happier. She is intelligent and knows her way around the house but now does it so confidently and goes up stairs with much more pace and doesnt slow down and doesn’t second guess herself for anything now. She loves being her same old self and loves to just take naps and have her sudden moments of wanting to play as she is a cairn terrior and loves her space but also her playtime. even going on walks we go the same way every day and she knows exactly where she is, always stops at the same other spots to mark her territory and is so happy. Since she lost sight she has become more caring in that she loves to love more than ever and shows her appreciation. We have a fenced yard and she loves being out there on her own laying on the grass putting her senses to work. Point is, it takes a few weeks but as long as your dedicated to helping them they should adjust with no problem. we practically did nothing other then change her diet, schedule, give more love and she is a-lot happier then before. she knows she is doing better and is happy because of it. she knows she is getting help and never reacts and lets us give her the shots she needs twice a day because she knows its working. She even plays with toys now as she never did before and loves to dig up holes as she used to as a puppy then had stopped and loves to every chance she gets.

    Wow this is fantastic news to be told there is help for people in need I am a 70 year old pensioner and I have a little dog and I’ve had to take her to the vet about her teeth and I’ve had to save up and save up so she could have her surgery. If I had of known this was available I would’ve come to you and ask you for help for my little dog but this is wonderful news for the people in need because there are people out there at the moment who really need help. I was fortunate I saved and I did get her teeth done and it cost me a lot of money but who knows in the future, I may need some help because it cost of living is really starting to get out of control. I would rather go without so my dog could have what she wants because I love her so much I would only come and ask for ur help if I could not pay. I did save the amount was over $1500. But she is now ok and even though she has only a few teeth left, she can still eat and have a nice life. Thank you so much for helping people that is very very very kind. Thank you❤❤❤❤❤. If I had known this I would have had her teeth done earlier and I then could have given u half of the money I had saved up and not had to wait so long to get the total amount Thank u for letting us know this a great help for our fur baby’s So happy I just started to subscribe. ❤

    Is it ok to use clippers to shorten the top coat a little? I’ve given my terrier mix a few clean up hair cuts. I still leave a solid 2-3 inches of hair, I’ve mostly just cut her mane down so that it is the same length as the rest of her hair. It’s grown back the same each time. I would take her to the groomers, but she’s a rescue and is terrified when I’m not there. I’ve always worried that she would be the type of dog to stress itself to death at the groomers.

    • @Boudicaisback
      @Boudicaisback Год назад

      What kind of terrior is she? Majority of the time, shaving a double coated dog in any shape or form will damage the coat and it will never return to the original state. This can result in the dog being extremely uncomfortable, not being able to regulate body temperature and itchy burning hot spots. I don't think it is wise to shave your dog but I cannot say forsure until I know the breed.

    • @poochesatplay
      @poochesatplay Год назад

      Whilst groomers don't recommend shaving double coats as it can impact on them negatively, if you are just taking off small bits and so far it hasn't had an impact, or you don't mind if it grows back a bit funny looking, then if it is helping her feel more comfortable then it shouldn't be a major issue. Worth asking your Vet as well just to be sure all is fine with her coat and skin next time you are there, just for peace of mind.

    I grew up in the tropics however I now reside in Coastal Carolina where it can get quite hot... I've been shearing my double-coated Australian cattle dogs in summer for years but my girlfriend recently said many sources online say it's harmful... this sounds like a giant load of horse crap to me because my animals look fantastic and their athletic performance and cool down is radically improved in extreme heat the moment I take their hair off. If you brush them vigorously for a few days before you get out the Clippers it comes off pretty easy.
