    This is a poor example or a sample of a right turn... it's best to use The Jug Handle turn Blocking the curbside so a car won't become trapped between the trailer and the curb.

    The turn I see encourages drivers in cars to pass on the right, if you teach this your wrong

  • @brianhoppenrath8379
    @brianhoppenrath8379 7 месяцев назад

    The turn in the diagram is not necessary, it’s a easy right by moving slightly left to block part of lane, maybe 2 feet over and sharp right.

    • @capnskiddies
      @capnskiddies 5 месяцев назад

      That's what all of my ATS & ETS 2 experience has taught me. Those turns are pretty tight and the four wheelers are real life stupid, too.

  • @brianhoppenrath8379

    I see a car stopping way back from the stop sign, that almost never happens in real life, the button hook even with your right signal on could encourage an inpatient car to pass on the right. I have seen it happen, saying that I never went to a school of truck driving and never did the button hook turn in 44 years.

      I don't doubt that impatient drivers behind the truck could screw everything up, but (and I'm not a driver either), if the driver take their time and maintains awareness, after swinging left and starting the turn to the right, they can probably see the hazard before it becomes a huge problem, hopefully. Also, if they don't fully clear the right lane, then the car can't pass them (unless they're a real piece of work and use the shoulder). It all comes down to paying attention to idiots on the road I guess

  • @petergilbert144
    @petergilbert144 7 месяцев назад

    Don't know what Buffalo you're talking about, but in upstate NY almost no driver is probably nearly intelligent enough to stop that far from the intersection.

    • @AtomizerX
      @AtomizerX 5 месяцев назад

      Buffalo is just the business name. They're based in Canada, which is stated in the channel description. You could also figure it out based on clues in the video, like the accent and use of km/h.

    For 33 years my company pushed, and I used the button hook. This bothered me. You have your right blinker on so 4 wheelers expect you to turn right. Then you swing out into the left lane at the start of your button hook. I did some crazy stuff with my signal lights in those type turns. Love the button hook.🦇

    To all viewers: it's only a coupling during picking up the trailer, but NOT A FULL INSPECTION of the trailer, as it is supposed to be in good shape and taken care of by the owner. Of course, you can make an inspection if you have time. The purpose of this video is to demonstrate what is necessary to do if you are going to hook up the trailer at the yard.

  • @middleclassretiree
    @middleclassretiree 8 месяцев назад

    No wonder so many crappy drivers come out of school, I guess you don’t care if you’re axle hubs have grease or you don’t have loose and rusty lug nuts and you never visually inspected your trailer tires for defects nor did you actually thumb all trailer tires you sir should be ashamed and I would have failed you on your road test right there

    • @BuffaloDriverTraining
      @BuffaloDriverTraining 8 месяцев назад

      Don’t you worry, this is just the coupling portion and not a full inspection. There are many more things to check on the truck and trailer and these are being taught to students. When going for a road test in Manitoba the inspection process has been broken down into individual segments for each element in the National Safety Code. This is a demonstration on how the coupling procedure can look while you are working as opposed to doing a road test. Maybe we can do the tire inspections in the next video…. Have a great day!

    I always thought that trucks are not allowed to enter opposite lanes during turns or make big jug handle turn. I'm not a real truck driver, just a simulated one in American Truck Simulator.😂 I was having trouble with right turns to a single lane. Now, it's clear. Thanks guys.

    • @heimskr2881
      @heimskr2881 7 месяцев назад

      Sometimes you can (and should) intentionally block both lanes of traffic to enable you to take a wider turn. This is especially useful with those oversize loads that are just really long trailers. I've seen trucks use this IRL. Intentially block traffic so that you have room to make the turn safely. Edit: Oh yeah, if you plan on doing the button hook in the video, the left lane needs to be clear. AKA block traffic

    • @paulne1514
      @paulne1514 6 месяцев назад

      Some places I had to deliver, had small entry driveways, with brick or stone walls. The ONLY way I could make that turn was to stay back, with my indicator on and wait for ALL opposing traffic to pass. Then I had to get my whole rig in oncoming traffic lane to make my turn into the business. These businesses were built in the 1940’s, when trucks weren’t so long.

    I am not a trainer but I use more of the left lane of the street I am entering so I did not have to leave as large of a gap between the right curb and my trailer on the street I am turning from. Even though you say your trailer is blocking the right lane as you approach the intersection, there is a lot of room for a 4 wheeler to come in alongside of you as you are turning with the way you are instructing drivers to do it.
