Yeah, there's a brooding intensity for sure. This was only a month after 9/11... might have something to do with it.
@@mattressfour20 They were like that since Binaural, probably right after Yield. Ed was different then. He became more like what we see today in that avocado album. I don't know what he was going through, but something personal was happening for sure. And there's Matt in the band too, they sounded different right away, even in their more upbeat stuff later on. And there was Roskilde, 9/11, his divorce, getting older, getting tired, and a bunch of stuff in other members lives probably, and so on. People change. I think "I am Mine" talks about a lot of it, especially about being yourlself whatever it is at the moment.

@@joaolucasprates Thank you so much! The words of so many brazilian songs are poetry. It is very kind of you to translate...I know it isn't easy. I am just trying to learn a few songs by Jobim and get the correct sound of the musical language. I am also learning portuguese on an app, but it isn't really giving me what I want...I should have started to learn many years ago...but that is OK I am 69 and still trying! Maybe a real person as a teacher would help!
@@judythcasey2785 You're welcome! I too find these Vinicius' lyrics to be wonderful, and that was another reason why I wanted to translate them for you. I figured a foreigner should also be able to appreciate them as much as I do in my mother tongue. As for your learning process, it's never too late to learn new stuff! Maybe you could find a native teacher in your town? Either way, I hope you keep on learning, because I guarantee you there's a whole universe of poetry, music, cinema and literature in portuguese waiting to be unraveled by you. Have a good one :)
