Red is actually tougher than green for Ryno even though red isn’t numbered. Blue is really tough (/100).

The 91 Sig Series Sandberg is my favorite card of all time. I have 5 copies and will eventually send them to be graded. Probably send to both PSA and SGC. The black slab I think will make a nice contrast with the green and gold. Can’t wait to see the results from your sub.

I've owned 20 plus 70's and 80's cars. Some original survivors, original paint, dusty as hell, bird shit on them but original paint. I wash the car and buff the original paint. I don't fill in scratches with touch up paint. I'm cleaning the car, not altering the car. I can't see the logic if a baseball card sits in an attic for 60 years and is dirty as hell, who would not try to get it somewhat cleaner. Maybe not soaking the card but something.

There's better solution that that. I used eyeglass cleaner in a spray bottle - put 1/4 water and just one drop dish cleaning liquid. I've done this quite a few times. I only keep it submerged for 20 minutes. It's amazing what grime will come off a card. Those who say it's altering a card, it's not. Trimming and coloring a card is altering. If I buy a vintage car I'm gonna wet sand it and wash it, repainting a car is altering it.

No, it is not wrong to do as you wish with your property. It's also not wrong to submit them to a 'Profesional grader after you soak them.

Mmmmm... 'residue' pattern and appearance on the Topps card looks an awful lot like a wax stain which is much simpler to remove with a dry paper towel... those boards were 'rough sawn' and could leave nasty impressions in the cards... I'd say this is an earnest, 'How NOT to' vid...

There are very few “collectors” left. Everyone in the hobby is in it for the money. It’s all about appreciation and investing. You can say I don’t care about the value all you want but deep down inside most keep cards because you believe it will appreciate. It is with this mindset all these “fix” method exist. There is so much money in the hobby you are crazy if you think majority of high value cards have not been fixed up one way or another.

I recently came across a book full of Ryne Sandberg cards. How do I know how much they’re worth? I know there’s a lot of variable but what’s the best route to get them valued?

I find a nice 100 grit sandpaper works wonders, just add a little water while working it.

This needs to be illegal i know when i started collecting in the 80s any repair to your card was just not allowed and to do it in the open like this really scares me that people may think its ok to screw people over

Being a Juan Soto, PC guy. I love this video and am impressed as you have cards on my wish list. Some of those are very beautiful and they’re on my bucket list. I could make a nice little video myself . my first goal was to collect every rookie card graded at least a 9 but mostly 10’s and believe me, there’s a lot of those. In between the variations graded, SP’s, SSP‘s, case hits and gold numbered as well as so many more. Well happy hunting and have fun. Enjoy your special collection.

As a grader i can promise you that this will not pass the test and get instantly rejected.

NO. ... Pick up a NANO Mister* It's a Card and with that said, it has NO GRAIN DIRECTION. ... It's just Mulch, Cellulose, flattened from tree pulp, natural, so when you soak them, they expand, changing their size. A little nano mister with distilled warm water, maybe a pinch of salt will soften the card after a very light cleaning / buffing. Not all card stock is the same. ... Some thicker and more glossier coated then others. ... So if they expand some, you may get them back from a grader on account that they do not fit into the sized slabs used etc.

If that's wax residue, just use nylons like a woman would wear on her legs or a used dryer sheet.

So let Me respond to old collector types. You got suckered, and continue to get suckered. I learned as I began collecting that the whole system was designed to steal from children and their parents. When grading became the end all factor of value, integrity was lost. When Panini puts cards in the set that START OUT NO BETTER THAN “”graded 8 condition”, it destroys the integrity of the company, the industry, and the hobby. Why should a kid get penalized for spending the money on a pack, pulling the rookie they were chasing, only to have it off center, wrinkled, and scratched FRESH OUT OF THE PACK. This is the epitome of fraud.

My first 1/1 card I ever pulled was a 2020 Topps Ryne Sandberg Rookie Retrospective RC Logo Medallion. Funny story I thought it was just a normal base card with silver border until 2 months later I happen to see the back of card and saw 1/1. Turns out it is the 1/1 Platinum Parallel.

I became a Cubs fan at the age of nine in 1988 when my dad was dating a lady out there in gary Indiana. Went back home to Pittsburgh, a cub fan and I used to always watch the bozo show and Harry Carey and Steve Stone on WGN. Glad you did this video because I just picked two of his rookie cards up on eBay this week a PSA nine and the other was an autograph PSA certified

We literally had the same childhood 😊 I watched Sandberg on WGN and The Bozo show - loved it!! That display is awesome!! The Boys of Summer card is very cool - beautiful cards 🤯🤯 I have over 1,000 different Sandbergs so definitely a collector of him as well. That Rhyno metal card is really cool, I gotta get that one! Still watching and will comment more. #21, #19, are a couple of my favorites. Your collection is amazing, I have two autographs and some lower numbered cards. Love #15 and #9 may be my favorite as I was in the military. The signature series auto is a dream of mine - that's definitely a holy grail, someday 😄! #2 is a very beautiful card! Watched most of the way through so my comments are all over...
