Ziggy's ski
Канада
Добавлен 27 окт 2020
I am 68 now and have been skiing for almost 7 years starting in 2017/2018 season and this is progressively from the start to the most recent videos of skiing with friends at various ski resorts but mostly at Sunshine Village and Lake Louise. Come often, as my progress goes, so are my videos which could be even more fun to watch.
2024 11 28 Lake Louise Ski Resort Senior Day Again
Hello everyone again in this almost copy of the last trip to Lake Louise. There was no new snow since then, and surprisingly, the snow conditions were still excellent. Our senior group changed this time and our friend with 81 years of life experience, joined us. We skied pretty much the same trails as the last time as not many new trails were opened, and when we finally decided to try a Paradise Bowl, a fog came over, and we couldn't see much further - it was excellent fog condition but too challenging for us, so we pass that idea.
It was much colder and cloudier today but skiing was perfect. Till next time.

As days go on and with a nice dump of snow, it is nice to see more and more lifts and trails open slowly. Almost all lifts are now open, except for Larch and Pipestone chairs, so more blue and black trails are opened on the front and back. Today with a group of seniors 65 - 74, we started to conquer our first black trail the Brown Cow which was in decent snow coverage but I think we have crosse...

Hello Everyone on this beautiful first day of the 24/25 season, and especially welcome back my subscribers the old ones the new ones, and of course, the future ones, who don't know it yet :). Sorry for my delay with this video, but I had a problem with the computer program and of course, so long time invested in choosing what to show as I want to show everything but the video would be, probably...

Hello Everyone and Welcome to the new Season of Skiing. I know it is still so far away as it is still 54 days to go to the opening day which is so far set to be on Nov 8 for Sunshine Village and Lake Louise. By doing this Video I feel that time will go a little faster and also I think that I reached a confidence level that allows me to ski braver as I realize what mistakes I am making which was...

With Lake Louise closed already the fun continues at Sunshine Village for another two weeks. It is pretty hot today and snow conditions are changing rapidly from too icy conditions in the morning to very slushy and wet conditions in the afternoon. The "good" time is from around noon for a very short time. Ski-out is closed as there is no snow anymore in the lower part of it. Yup, slowly the sea...

Another fun day with friends at Sunshine Village where after recent 10cm of snow fall couple days ago, there are still very good snow conditions with some powder spots still left over. Some steep slops are a little iced and scraped off but still doable. For some of us unfortunately, this was the last day of this season - see you guys in next 2025 season. For the rest of us there is still fun wa...

Typical spring conditions at Lake Louise where snow is crusty and icy in the morning, especially in the front of the mountain and soften out in the afternoon. Most of the morning we skied the groomers and we moved to off-piste later during the day. Another beautiful day at Sunshine with friends where we met so long waited for, the powder. Unfortunately at the end of the day, the powder was skied out and mostly gone and with time as the temperature rose, the snow became also much heavier and easily hard-packed. This was a perfect time for me, however, to have so long waited for, the opportunity to practice skiing a powder even for such a s...

2024 01 17 Sunshine Village Ski Resort After Cold Snap
Hey Ziggy, you're looking good as usual. The hills are looking better and better every day as winter approaches. Here's a tip for you: Watch your friend in the blue jacket. When he makes a turn, he counts "1-2-3" in his mind. This helps him to pivot his poles just in front of him as he makes the turn. Try counting "1-2-3" and see if it helps you. You're getting much better and keeping up with your friends. You're an inspiration. Keep up the good work, old friend. Thank you.
Sure, Bobby, I'll give it a shot. That is more like a technicality but first I was trying to get a different approach in my skiing - in the last 4 years because of my fear I checked every turn on bumps before I went into it and plus my wrong stance, which caused me to stop on almost every turn, and now, I go first, and then see what happens :) I am still working on it and also other aspects of my skiing. Thanks for watching, for the tip and for the encouragement!
Come to Sunshine!!!
OK, I think very soon now. Thanks for the invitation :)
Hey okay, nice snow out there wow beautiful, nice to see a bunch of seniors out enjoying themselves. That will be me I hope to retire in 2-3 years and hit the slopes with you and your friends. Thank you Ziggy you guys are awesome.
Thank you Bobby so much for your always nice and cheerful comments. Glad that my videos gave you hope, inspiration and plans. It is a wonderful age to enjoy ourselves finally haha. See you someday! LET IT SNOW
Thanks for the video Ziggy. Looks like it's worth a trip from Edmonton with that last dump of snow. Hope your friend is alright. Binding looked a little loose.
Yes thank you, she is alright just a little bruised. Yeah, it is clearly shown that the ski disengaged. We are planning to go again this Thursday - she is tough. Please take into consideration that the conditions can change from one day to another - I hope at least for better :)
oh , long time no see , huh ? finally winter has come we are roughly 3 weeks away form resort opening i'm excited to wait have a good and safe season ^^
Hello Jucktv nice to see you too my friend and I am happy for you that the waiting is almost over - I know the waiting pain as I was there and here you go IT IS STARTED already and it will come to you finally too - just hanging there a little more. Thank you too for frequent visiting my site and of course your support.
Hey my friend, yes nice views from your drive, a little bit more snow this time. Nice to see you on the video, you are having the time of your life nice to see. Keep it up enjoy seeing your videos. See you again.
Hello Bobby and yes I included the views from our driving for people who are living away from the mountains for them to see how they are looking right now and the road condition. I took a risk however showing me from such close distance as I am afraid to loose some if not all of my subscribers - well will see what will happen now hahaha. See you next time and thank you for sticking around and your support :)
Have you been to Sunshine Village yet?
no, no yet but if there will be no more snow at Lake Louise maybe it will be my next destination to check it out. Will see
Hello my friend, wow nice to see you out there already, nice 360, yeah be careful of the spinning around you know too much fresh air will do to you LOL. But beautiful as always from you, I'll get out there might be early spring time but I'll be there for sure. Anyway mountain starting to fill in nicely, still amazing views. Thank you and keep these coming my friend, you look in great shape.
Hello Bobby and well the season has started, waiting is over and there will be no more excuses left haha. Yeah after 4 years of not practicing my freestyle skills :) I wanted to check if I still got it what I learned at the very beginning of my skiing carrier. It would be pity to loose it as whatever one can do on skis it will help balance and confidentiality and better commitment. Just let me know when you will arrive and we will meet
Hey Ziggy, nice to see you're back. I was planning on being there for opening day, but of course my camper heater had problems Monday morning 🤬. Oh well, maybe we'll see you on the slopes at the end of November. Let's keep up the snow dances.
Hello again and yes I am planning to be often on the hill so one dau we will meet for sure. Yeah the old problem again if the snow will be this year as 2 back years it wasnt that great and so far just one snow fall and nothing for the near future
Hello, hello , hello again my friend. Wow wow wow so nice to see you again and hear your voice, Thank you ever so much for your hard work in putting these amazing and very inspirational videos together. Thank you for mentioning me in your intro wow, so nice and very kind of you sir. I must say, you are an incredibly determined person. I have been skiing for 40+ years and do not still do what you were doing in just a few weeks. And to add to that you were around 61 years of age or so, that in itself is an incredible feat. You deserve an award for your inspirational videos on skiing and for your determination in getting out there so often as you do. I really do wish we could meet out west for a ski fun day with you and some of your friends. I may get out there this coming winter and like yourself was hoping for a short and fast summer, and yepper almost time to ski again. Ontario and Eastern Canada was really bad last year for skiers, so I am looking to go out west this year. Thank you again was very nice to see your video again and LOL interesting enough I was just mentioning your name to a friend of mine earlier today about skiing out west and how and when you started, bless you sir, please keep your videos coming and I will be looking forward to seeing them and follow your progress, and yes you are doing great, and wow 80-117 KLM, incredible. God bless and see you soon.
Thank you Bobby so much. I started worrying about you as I didn't see you visiting me lately. But here you are you are all right :). Thank you so much for your so lengthy comment with so many nice things in it. Yeah I am trying to conquer skiing as much I can but there are so many branches of it like slalom jumping, freestyle, backcountry etc. that is so much overwhelming me as I want to master it all but I just don't have my time left enough. So at the beginning, my way of skiing was just to get from top to bottom and because I didn't know how to turn or stop at that high speed or any attempt would be a disaster so I did it in a straight down lane. So later when I discovered that there is so much to it and still so much to learn I realized that I have to prioritize skiing skills to learn as it is obvious that I won't be able to master it all as I am to old for that and not enough of time :( So, I gave my priority, to mastering the style and finesse of skiing and not so much to the crazy free skiing as my bones are not that elastic anymore. Thank you for being with me on my journey :)
Beautiful and inspiring story. Great job Ziggy 👏 👍 👌
Thank you very much for your input and opinion as it will inspire me too to get better either in video making and actual skiing . Thanks again
hello there , ha winter is coming u look good hopefully , be safe this winter too here in korea , still hot where is winter on earth ?
Yeah thanks well some people are lucky to ski the whole year as there is always somewhere a winter. Yeah I always remember safety first
Good inspiration for us older beginners Ziggy. I spent last year at Marmot Basin but plan on spending this winter at Sunshine and Lake Louise. I really liked following along on a map when you labelled them in the video. I don't know anyone that skis at the moment, so this makes me more prepared for what runs I will feel confident going on and what to expect at the resorts. Appreciate the videos and looking forward to the upcoming season. Trevor.
Thank you so much, Trevor, for your comment, as that is exactly what I meant. I will keep as much I can as the labeled trails, but sometimes it is confusing. I will try also to be more vocal during skiing, describing the run condition as we go. That will be something new as I never speak on my videos :) I am happy to know that my videos can inspire someone, and I will try better . Thank you
Hi Ziggy. Just wanted to let you know I've been really enjoying your videos as we dream of the upcoming season. As a 51 year old beginner (1st year 23/24) it's nice to see the runs from a perspective of a non-20yo professional skier 😂. I particularly like the videos with someone in front of you. I think my favorite is the lady in the two tone blue gear with her calm patient style being something I can strive for. Well done on your progression as a skier and a videographer.
Hello Trevor I am very but very happy to know that someone liked my videos because my viewing and subscription rates are very low. Well Trevor we are on the same page as I started to ski when I was 60 in 2017 and by now I have done a few times double black runs and I was fortunate to meet my friend Susan you mention with pretty much the same skiing skills and frequency of going. I am looking forward to next season with a promise to myself that this time I will be more adventurous and braver and discover more runs I haven't done yet, especially a blacks and double blacks. See you Trevor in a few months and once again Thank You
yup , even there coming to end congraturation for safe season
Thank you Juck
Great video,
Glad you enjoyed it
Mission accomplished my friend , well done sir.
Actually, I lied, today is going to be my last day as I am going to have a ride with my friend to Lake Louise today again.
Hi Ziggy, do you recommend a hotel close to Sunshine village, I am still looking to get out there maybe mid week before the season is over. Thank you May 14-17th
There's a hotel right on the mountain at Sunshine. Susan my friend normally stays in Banff. Use a hotel booking site called Expedia. There is a shuttle that will take you from Banff to the ski hill. Hope this will help
still enjoying skiing ,, good canada is such a paradise of skier however , you also are nearly on the end of season , right ? be careful till the end of season bless you
yes, Juck the last day is supposed to be May 20 at Sunshine so it is coming to an end fast but we are still enjoying whatever we can till then.
Nice my friend, Thank you
Thanks for the visit
Thank you, please keep these videos coming my friend Love to see the skiing and the wonderful views.
Thank you Bobby, more will come for sure
is it sticky?
yeah, it was soft sticky and slushy in the afternoon but I will take it over firm solid and frozen from the morning conditions
@@ziggysski at some point I will hopefully get to see you and your crowd at sunshine!!!! I always look out for you all!
Well I am going to be there on Thursday at least that is the plan so far and we always stop in the morning and for lunch, at Goat Side, it would be nice to meet you for sure
Wow those moguls were nice, the view all around is breath taking. Nice Thank you my friend.
Yeah, moguls is another area that I need a lot of practice, especially on those big deep and ugly ones :} Thanks for visiting Bobby
Happy birthday Zbyszku
Thank you so much Kamilka that is a nice surprise
Hey Ziggy what’s your favourite run at LL? Mine is Upper Boomerang.
Telling the truth I don't have a favourite run - I enjoy every run when there is good soft snow condition and coverage but for challenges, I would to face, I would pick the back side
Coverage looks pretty good. Do they typically stay open into May?
yeah it is still good considering only half of the snowpack this year and yes if I remember it is supposed to be open at LL till May 5
Wow, nice happy birthday sir many more to come for sure, looking forward to many more videos from your ski trips out west. Thank you go and celebrate.
Thank you Bobby for such nice greetings
My friend you are livin the life I tell ya. What a place, can not wait to go if not this season for sure 100% next winter, I will be there. Thank you sir.
Well, that is what is left and I hope it is going to last for a while yet, You are very welcome Bobby whenever you decide to come
Wow, that first run and the music, EPIC absolutely beautifully put together especially when you passed your friend at the 10:25 mark of the video doing 35 KLM or so nice feeling, you are getting much much better my friend as I see you attacking the moguls more and more with confidence. Lots of practice does that for you, congratulations keep going as the season winds up. Thank you again.
Thank you Bobby for your comments - I knew you going to like it :), but unfortunately, I don't have the link to the music as I downloaded it from the internet a long time ago and now I am mounting the video with the music background from my collection. It is royalty-free music and it is called the Journey to the Stars by Slavfk. Yes, the season is almost over and I want to practice so much more yet, especially with that powder I am still struggling with and which we don't have too often.
@@ziggysski Thank you sir, I'll look for the music. As for skiing the powder, just lean back on the skis a bit more it will raise the tips making it easier to float and ski through the powder. Also pivot more using the poles to make your turns more comfortable by turning your upper torso downhill while counting 1,2,3 pivot turn, sink slightly down using your hips then plant the pole to go to your next turn. Try these tips they work for me, again Thank you for the feed back love your videos.
Thank you Bobby for your tips surly I will practice that
Please post the name of the music at the beginning of the video. Thank you so much.
Hello Bobby how you doing winter is coming every day closer as it was snowing at Sunshine Village this week already :) and can't wait to try out my skills :) I don't know if you managed to find that music so just in case i am sending you the link i accidentally found out ruclips.net/video/MCscTvpQ7po/видео.htmlsi=RuNPtl_w-txsOIoF see you soon Opening day in Alberta for Lake Louise is Nov 8
Wow, nice video love love the music, can you please put a link to the music from the beginning of the video, was perfect for your first run, thank you my friend.
Can you use the Epic Pass there or the Ikon Pass?
as far I know you can use the icon pass at Sunshine
Wow nice, thank you Ziggy
You're welcome Bobby
Can you use the Epic Pass there or the Ikon Pass?
I really don't know but you can call them at General Inquiries: +1 (877) 956-8473
Nice again buddy long runs beautiful place. TY
Thanks 👍
Wow, amazing place, views, ok that's it I'm gonna book a trip out there, once I get that all firmed up, I'll message you, would love to meet up for a run and just so I don't get lost, I got lost in Big White. LOL Thank you my friend beautiful place, oh and try to stay on the single black diamonds, even blues just so you enjoy your skiing more. Admire you for trying these double blacks though.
Sure that will be fun I hope though that the weather will cooperate that day and Lake Louise probably is not that big like the Big White as the name is Big for the reason so don't worry hahaha. I envy people who are skiing so easily on every run and I am challenging myself to do that too so even I am sh....tless scared I am going out of my bubble and trying the most difficult ones from time to time. I did it before so it shouldn't be so difficult anymore right? hahaha
wow , such a beautiful ski resort happy for U, be careful in the rest season i ' m already waiting for 24 - 25 season at times, usually off season , i watch your clip , that 's soothing me
oh that very sweet thank you do you have any ideas and suggestions for my videos? and yes I am trying to be careful although it is sometimes hard to avoid. I watch mine like also other's videos during summertime
@@ziggysski i'm happy with your clip , landscape , people , skiing all good your clip is probably not best but i like , haha if you want ,however , any suggestion , i would say that be careful when you film safety is best , a friend of mine has been seriously injured even if he is expert level . please enjoy the rest of your season , safely
Thanks Juck I will keep that in my mind
Another Gem from you buddy, nice keep it up beautiful place nice video love love the views and scenery, thank you Ziggy.
Thank you Bobby for giving me another reason for doing these videos. I am glad you like them even though I am not, doing crazy stuff or I am a great skier
hi , it's been a while last sunday , sadly , i enjoyed my last skiing of 23-24. looks like you still are in winter and U look good enjoy the rest of season and be careful when skiing
Hello Juck, yeah long time indeed and feel sorry for that early closing season. Hope you had a good season as we experienced extreme conditions from a deep freeze of - 40ish to a hot February of +10. Hopefully, it is still going for a while yet as we have half of the normal pack, so not sure if that will be enough till May.
Wow Ziggy, those were nice runs I must say, beautiful place. Thank you Weekend more line ups but hey that is like that anywhere, but that placae is worth the wait.
Glad you enjoyed Bobby
Wow Ziggy another nice video from that beautiful place, ah must say Paradise Bowl was no paradise, however very challenging basically that run has it all, Middle limits looked nice at the end, but again wow give you a lot of credit to try the black diamonds. Hope to still make it out there this season my friend, keep up the good work TY
Paradise is ok it is just we like always took extra turns to run unconventional trails, looking for good snow or just to discover, through the trees and stuff like that, so it looks not convincing :) It was a little hard-packed but it was ok. Thanks for your comments Bobby and for liking my videos
@@ziggysski I was there one that very day, Lake Louise March 6, 2024.. I get emotional reflecting on my dumb luck to be born Canadian. Paradise has nothing on Lake Louise on a blue bird day.
Hi Ziggy, what was that trail through the trees that you guys took from the top of the gondola to Charlie's Choice? Some sort of unofficial shortcut?
It is hard for me to explain as I am more to follow than to guide and can never remember how to get to certain places but as I remember it is like traversing from Sunset Terrace to like you said to Charlie Choice
Wow, absolutely amazing runs and mountain. Views around are just incredible. Ok I definitely gotta make out there. Lake Louise ot Sunshine? HMM Ziggy what do you prefer my friend? Thank you sir.
Hmm hard to tell Bobby, it depends on the snow conditions that's why we are more often at Sunshine than Lake Louise lately. They both are good when the conditions are right. I am happy that you enjoy my videos and my ski adventures
Was there 2 weeks ago looking fab but challenging 😮
Wow you da man Ziggy, someday I hope to visit, maybe ski with your gang, they look like a lot of fun people. TY
You are very welcome! Where are you from?
Snow is good there?
the places we skied were wonderful as I described under the video
Conditions look terrible, why don't you guys walk down the hill.
You guys are great “I wanna look like I kinda know what I’m doing” love it!! I say that to myself every time I ski 😂 great skiing guys!
Thanx😊
Yes, Zygi, the condition of the ski slopes is terrible and cannot be compared with Europe. Chamonix 42 euro skypass
