@@tapasr11 exactly! You can skip this route and directly head onto Oni and then join the highway. I wanted to try this route, hence I took it. I have driven the Oni route as well and it's a bit better.

@@oldgamer.2 umm, yes, well almost! In india there is no perfect road. Apart from this stretch, the road from Pune to Karad (which is NH) is undergoing some repairs. So there are some bad patches in between. But, in totality, I will still rate this route 8/10. Still much better than other routes.

this video is from 2nd October. So, I expect the ghat roads to be the same as in the video. Lush green scenery, less traffic and very less potholes except on some stretches.

This route is stress free and lacks traffic which has always been the case with the regular Pune-Kolhapur-Nipani-Goa route. The traffic is very sparse and almost nil movement of buses and trucks due to 2 lane roads. You need to take the right from the highway from Narayanwadi (McDonald's can be used as a pitstop before you leave the NH, its right before the right turn). Additionally, post Kharepatan or Oni (depends which route you take) you get the NH66 which again is pretty much empty and newly constructed. Cherry on the cake is, toll gates haven't even started yet, except one. That way you can get to NH66 earlier and save the additional Pachal to Kharepatan 2 lane road. But you will miss out on the almost empty ghat roads. I have driven on both the stretches, and prefer Pachal-Oni in night, and Pachal-Kharepatan in day. Hope you have a safe drive trip ahead!
