Long time listener. I’ve played plenty of covers searching for that MCR tone. I’m older so I don’t use RUclips a lot. As a joke one time, I played “this is how I disappear” on my wildkat with p90s. I never realized it was the secret sauce for MCR tone. Seeing Frank play on them reinforces that and it makes me so so so happy. I love this band so so much. Thanks for keeping rock alive.

fuck its been a year....

I am thrilled to see the actual guitarist who wrote the parts play them instead of a tutorial by some kid. The interesting thing to me about MCR guitar parts are the octaves he uses to carry the melody. I’ve never heard that done before, and it seems to be sort of his trademark style. Can anyone tell me who influenced this style, or whether he just came up with it as a way to fill out their sound in the recording studio, or something? I really like it, especially in BP, but musically it seems like an unusual choice (like, he could’ve done a full three finger rock chord, but instead he muted the middle string and just does the octaves).
