Hey! We're Josh and Nick.
Here at Trade Secrets, we want to share our love for gear, the outdoors, and Josh's 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road. We're all about sharing our favorite pieces of gear, our outdoor adventures, and chronicling the (painfully) slow modification of the 4Runner. And who knows, maybe one day Nick will trade in his Elantra for a Tacoma. Stick around and we'll build a community of like-minded individuals that have questionable spending habits and would much rather be outside.

In this video we're looking at the Vertx Gamut 2.0 backpack. While it has many CCW and tactical applications, it also works great as an EDC/commuter bag.
Bellroy System Messenger Bag Review
Просмотров 18 тыс.2 года назад
This week, we review the Bellroy System Messenger Bag. After a few months of daily use, this might be one of Josh's all-time favorite bags. It strays away from the military style that a lot of outdoor enthusiasts drift towards, but its certainly a bag worth checking out if you spend any time at all in school or an office environment.
Wild West Duel: Do You Stand a Chance?

Picture this: Its a Friday night. You had a long week of being an outlaw and all you want to do is enjoy a drink at the local saloon. All of a sudden a a lawman walks through the swinging doors, big iron on his hip. You both lock eyes across the room and simultaneously come to the same conclusion: this town just ain't big enough for the both of ya. There's only one way to settle this, and that'...
Yeti Competitor: Pelican 50 QT Elite Cooler

In this video, Nick talks about how a Yeti Cooler alternative, the Pelican 50 QT Elite Cooler. After about a year of use and comparing it head to head with Josh's Yeti 45 Tundra, we think the Pelican brings a lot to offer for anyone who is looking for something a little different than a Yeti, but also wants an absolute beast of a cooler.

Triple Aught Design Axiom 24 Review
Просмотров 2 тыс.2 года назад
In this video, we review the Triple Aught Design Axiom 24. After two years of pretty heavy use as an EDC/commuter bag, we wanted to share our thoughts on this well thought-out bag. It's the serious attention to detail that sets this bag apart. This pack is perfect for someone who loves internal organization and gets a kick out of a rugged, military look.
Are you aware if this bag has been discontinued? I can't seem to find it listed online anywhere as the "System Messenger." There are some listings for a "System Work Bag" but that one seems to only be available from Amazon at a serious markup. I think it's gone.
D U P B A G Y as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison. For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the
Really wanted to hear what you had to say but the music was so distracting for me. Bag looks nice. Hope you’re enjoying.
Dark background - hard to see the bag.

Impressive. Nice to see the Logi MX fits. I’m sold.
Thank you! The draining feature is the best! It’s also threaded so you can attach a hose if you’d like to send the water outside of your garage or wherever you have it placed. Heavy and cumbersome YES! But I use it for my hurricane “save my food” go-to when I lose power in my home for 2-5 days when we get hit.. it sits inside my garage and doesn’t move..I put the hose out the garage door so it drains down the driveway… I have the extra trays that sit above the ice so my wrapped up meat or deli items stay dry. I bought for the lifetime warranty and have no issues with “gaps” around the gaskets….it keeps my stuff cold for as long as I need.
Still on the fence about whether I should go for the Tokyo Work bag or this one...
I'm not at all impressed with the pelican cooler. Many of them have warped lids on the inside where the gasket does nothing for sealing out the air. From what I can tell they are all warped along the back of the lid where some are much worse than others and Pelican told me it wouldn't make a difference if the gasket doesn't contact when the lid is closed. My argument was why even put on a gasket then. If the cooler is 1/2 filled with water and rolled over on it's front the water drips out around the lid. If the cooler is rolled over on it's back the water pours out. The Pelican cooler barely out performs a Coleman Marine cooler I bought 25 years ago. IMO, stay away from the Pelican. They look impressive, but looks can be deceiving. After some back and forth arguing Pelican did offer to make it right. They wanted me to drill holes through the cooler to render it useless and they would send me a replacement. On the surface that sounded good but knowing that other coolers are even worse I didn't want to risk getting sent a crappier one. After more than 1-1/2 years since I complained to Pelican I can still go into stores and see that Pelican still hasn't resolved the problem. Yesterday I opened the lid on a smaller 50 qt cooler and saw it was worse than my 70 qt. In addition, the holes provided for attacking a lock do not line up well.
I really enjoy your bag reviews. One question I do have is what is the name brand of the black watch I quite often see you wearing in your video reviews. Could you possibly do a review of the large black watch you are always wearing to find out what are the features you like most about this time piece and if you recommend it to your viewers. Thank you so much and please keep continue providing us with such great and informative videos.
saw the voodoo imperial's so i dropped a like and sub xD Good review.
Yeah, that vehicle is a gas-hog. It gets the same milage as my RAM 1500 with a big hemi V8. All that aside, it's a truck you'll be handing down to your grandkids. Change the fluids and filters and it will outlast you. Aside from a Jeep Wrangler, it's got to be the most versatile and mod-able vehicle out there. There is no end to how you can configure that truck, and it is a truck, not a car, or a crossover, it's a full-fledged, card-carrying truck. Yeah, it's not perfect, the head-unit is about as dated as it could be and in need of a serious upgrade to the 21st century, and it is almost embarrassingly underpowered, but still, it's one of the most popular off-road and car-camper vehicles on the market, and has been that way for 40 years. I just purchased a TRD Off Road Premium and it should be delivered to my dealership in about another 4 weeks. I've always loved the T4R since they first came out, and now, at age 61, I'm finally going to get one. Happy trails, friend. Thank you for your service to our country and enjoy that truck. Peace
Let's give a HUGE thanks for talking about lunch storage!! I've had a Maxpedition for 15 years, used DAILY, and it looks almost new. Zero complaints. I just ordered a Gamut 2 on sale for 150ish to try something else. A bit on the fence about changing what has worked so well, but here I am. Wife already claimed the maxpedition lol. Interested in plate storage I guess. I'm giving up some space for a more internally organizable option. Would be nice to remove the water bottle "wings" to replace with zipper removable, molle panels for water bottles, or more pouches, keeping the civilian look. This is the year for upping my overall carry game.
Would be cool to have a huge tool roll that fits into the "water bottle" pocket, or some kind of container that is cylindrical.
curious if it stands up on its own or will flop over when put on the ground?
Thanks for the detailed review of this bag. Are you still using it and would you still recommend it?
Is it good to use it for bike riding 🤔
Just bought this same 2020 TRD yesterday (11-26-22) with only 9,200 miles on it & wanted to see whats out there for mods. I really like the roof rack & ladder and the grill is pretty cool too, thanks!
fix yo lighting brother! great review tho :)
I am buying one. Once you mentioned you are a service member I was reminded how much this bag is like my originally issued helmet bag. And boy do I love that thing. This is a perfect addition/upgrade.
A laser would have helped. My father used to practice this as a cop. It wasn’t that uncommon in the 70s, and it would have been bread and butter after the civil war.
Hey dude anyway I could buy this bag off of you? Really looking for the green/brown color scheme and can't find it anywhere. Dying to get one
Oh no, I have that carabiner on my bags as well. Is it a sign for me to buy this bag too? (I actually am in the market for a work bag that's not a backpack)
7:03 Those "Slit's" are called "G spots". It's the spot where the G hooks go.
I have 2020 ORP with the same rack and ladder. I also have the matching Victory rock sliders with led lights. I have a toy-tec 3" lift and 285/70/17 mounted on those rims. It's good looking set up.
Nice looking 4runner, cool Mods! Thank you for sharing!
This is my truck gun bag. I put my galil with a folding stock in it with 1 mag inside the gun and 2 extra mags in the back area.
The mystery pull is for quick access to a carbine with a folding stock, or a similar weapon.
man I want this bag, wish it was different material. 15L? I thought it says 20 on site. also have my eyes on Lexdray Mumbai messenger but can't find ANYTHING about it... gonna pick either this or the lexdray.
Hey paul, what did you end up choosing? Any regrets?
@@verynearlypure i got lexdray mumbai and ended up returning and buying the belroy. like the belroy better. just looks, functions, and feels better to me.
@@paul6924 Glad to hear you're pleased switching to the Bellroy. I have their Venture Sling and love it. However I'm torn between Waterfield and Bellroy as my messenger/laptop brief. Thank you for the reply.
I’m really surprised by how much you can fit in there. And thanks for showing how the pop pockets work.
Машина мечта...у нас их не продают....
I really wanted to like this bag. It has great organization pockets, but when it’s filled out you can’t fit much inside the main compartment. The side walls are just too low. You are lucky to fit a weekends worth of clothes in that.
I couldn't agree with you more/ There are a lot of things about this bag that I wanted to work, but they just fell a little short.
Where can I get this bag in this color way?
I’m not sure why they’re not selling this color way on the official site anymore, but eBay might be a good place to look if you don’t mind second hand.
This is the grogu color set. The mandalorians baby Yoda thing. Limited run
Very fair review, I think you covered the cons very well.
I have a spending problem, can I subscribe?
Welcome to the club!
Great review!
officially called the heritage grill as it came on all the the FJ's . personally i think it depends on the color of the vehicle if it's an improvement or not. on my army green i prefer the green painted front over black. but it's personal pref on that one for sure. on the metalic gray yeah the heritage grill looks nice.
U zip it up and dont close it all the way. U poke that little nylon piece through the top, then u quick pull the main compartment down and open. Smh…
Awesome, thanks for letting us know! It's a bit over the top for me, but its cool that its an option for other people
This is my favorite modern messenger. Love this bag
Nice review. Just ordered one in black
Have been looking at this one for awhile. Thanks 😊
I don't doubt it is a top line bag ? Only it is over complicated? I prefer a minimal admin and a half clamshell rather than a full clam. I like the zip water bottle pockets! I hate laptop pockets, especially well padded, they just are wasted space ,for me . There is absolutely no way that bag would sit on it's bottom. For the price there is just to many negatives for me .
Thanks for sharing Rob! Sometimes simplicity is the way to go. A bag like this can seem like its trying too hard for certain people, so I totally get that! If you have any bags that you want to recommend, we're all ears!
@@tradesecrets5788 As a bag alcoholic I chop and change my favourite, in the mix, camalbak HAWG military , Black Diamond street creek, mountain hardware, multi pitch 20, various Berghaus and Lowe Alpine.
I know this channel is super new, i love the vibe. Keep it up.
Thanks so much! We appreciate the support!
Hmm I have been looking for a new waterproof bag
You've got chemistry with the camera can't wait to see more
Great start, would be great if the background was a lighter color and maybe a closer view to focus on the pack 😉🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks for the feedback! We really appreciate it!
Great first review for your channel! You mentioned your top 5 bags and then top 3 most comfortable bags. What bags were you talking about? I like the idea of the Axiom 24 but I’m not convinced it will be the right bag for me. I like the organization but am unsure if it will be “tough enough” for the various environments I end up taking my daily bags into. Been looking at the Goruck GR2 26L as an edc bag but hate the price tag. Whatever I get it needs to be 24-28L and made in the USA.
Thanks Mike! For my top 5 bags in general, I've gotta say its the Axiom 24, the Mystery Ranch 3 Day Assault Pack, the GoRuck GR2 34L, the Bellroy System Work Bag, and the Triple Aught Design FAST Pack EDC. Comfort wise, its easily the Axiom, 3DAP, and the GR2. If you're anywhere outside of an office environment, I maybe wouldn't go with the Axiom. The VX material feels pretty tough and water resistant, but there's something about Cordura that instills a little more confidence in regards to overall toughness. For USA made, you can't go wrong with TAD, most of the GoRuck line, and Mystery Ranch. The GR2 is a great choice and there are times where I wish I went with the 26L over the 34L, so if you go with that definitely let us know! Also just in case you're MIL/LEO/First responder, I know GoRuck and TAD have discounts that are worth checking out!
@@tradesecrets5788 I ended up getting the GoRuck GR2 26L and think it's a great all around EDC bag. I've only had it about a week now and taken one overnight trip in it but I already really liked both the clam shell opening and the organizational layout with the extra mesh pockets for the travel side of things. I think I really just need (want) a Wire Dopp instead of the current pouch I'm using since it stays pretty flat and fits in the larger mesh pocket perfectly. All in all it's my favorite backpack I've ever owned. Oh and as you know, it's built like a tank! This will easily be with me for years to come which is what I prefer. I don't like switching bags, I just want to have a bag that lasts many years without issues.
@@ShoelessPoimen That's awesome to hear! We actually have a 34L GR2 review coming out in a few weeks. I totally hear ya about the wire dopp. I've never picked one up but I do tend to lean towards pouches that can lay flat in order to maximize organization and space. Thanks for keeping us updated! - Josh
