Hey 131 hope all is well down your way. It does make it easy. Most of those pre-set profiles sound good they way they are. Excellent for folks who don't want to start from scratch. Starting from scratch can be quite daunting for anyone new to audio processing. I wish I had this years ago when I got back into radio.

Hello sir. I wonder if a setting must have been unchecked in the update. If you have receive audio in either of the sideband modes, toggle between sideband and AM and watch your screen for any changes. That happened to me once. For some reason my VAC was OFF in AM mode and ON in sideband. My eye noticed the change when toggling between AM and sideband.

No problemo bud! Conditions were finicky with that fading rolling across. You can see it in the spectral display but especially in the waterfall. I had to chuckle seeing your signal booming at 20dB but the rest of the band was flat line lol. Love that reverb and always have BTW. Very unique sounding. That swang is doing its thang! Sounding great as usual 131.

No problem my friend. Ya, at 15-20 over that's when you can hear all of the fine details of your audio and anyone else's audio. And yes, you sound very sweet! You got it dialed in for sure.

Hello Tony. I use a single Sonitus compressor near the beginning of my audio chain and a Sonitus multiband (5 bands) near the very end of my audio chain. Both compressors I use very sparingly. Once in a while I will use the Thetis compressor and that as well I use very sparingly at around 2dB.

Nice on the AM. AM is where my heart is at. If I can remember, I'll do a video on how I set my modulation percentages in Thetis. Thanks for watching!

@@KP68videogates That would be great! The Hermes is picking up interest from AMI with several of us using them and showing the boat anchor crowed that they do indeed make a nice AM radio. My setup is very simple with the Hermes into a XPA125B amp and just using the built in Thetis EQ (that I am still fiddling with).

@@JReed305 Yes indeed they make a nice AM radio. I have heard some operators using nothing but Thetis audio tools (EQ and CFC) and they sound great. Although I'll always use my Cakewalk by Bandlab audio processing, I too am fiddling with the Thetis audio tools. Some fellas use a combination of both.

Yes sir. Yet another thing great about Thetis is that if something isn't quite right for you or if something is seemingly awry, there is a high probability that there is a setting that can be changed or adjusted.

Hello sir. I noticed that only occasionally and I also noticed it when my AGC gain slider was set high (at or below the band noise floor) where I would be receiving a high amount of white noise while trying to talk to a distant station whos signal was mixed in with the noise floor. I didn't put 2 and 2 together until this weekend when it was bothering the crap out of me lol. Not all Thetis users may experience this because of the many ways receive audio can be routed. As far as if it was always present or not, I cannot be sure. There could be a setting in Thetis to mute the audio faster on key up but since the RF delay worked for me, I did not investigate the matter any further.

Thank you sir. In this profile I used a noise gate, Sonitus 6 band parametric EQ's, a couple of Cakewalk mastering plugins, and some compression. I tossed it all together rather quickly for my friend so he could have a starting point and to get on the air right away. And yes, the Heremes lite 2 is and Thetis is amazing!

The software is called Thetis and it needs to be used in conjunction with a ham radio transceiver such as Apache Labs SDRs or the Hermes lite 2. The Apache Labs radios are very expensive but the Hermes lite 2 is very inexpensive. As far as receive only SDRs go, I have used the RSP2 and the free software I used with it was called SDR console. The RSP2 is discontinued but they still have similar models. Concerning all of the digital capabilities you mentioned, I do not know since I never gravitated towards that aspect of radio. Hello there peakaboozen. That is very odd. I am not aware that there is any option for a RUclips creator to disable thumbs down and even if there was, I would never do that. The sampler is part of my REA (Radio Engineering Associates) modulation monitor software. It is not needed but it a great tool for properly setting modulation percentages.

No problem at all with the questions. The Focusrite interface box is what I use to connect to the computer. My Cloudlifter mic preamp is optional. I use this to bump up the mic signal level before the Focusrite. So, my chain is mic into Cloudlifter, then cloudlifter into Focusrite, then Focusrite into computer. Once in my PC, Cakewalk is my only audio processing and I tell Cakewalk to send its audio out to speakers out, which is the headphone jack on my mini computer. This audio level is considered line level and not mic level. For this next part the companion board is needed. Coming out of the mini computer headphone jack, I use a 1/8" stereo male to 1/8" stereo male cable to connect to the mic input on the Hermes. One would think that sending line level audio into a mic input would overload the mic input but in this case it's not that bad if you keep the audio level low. In Thetis click the Setup tab, then click Transmit tab and then make sure to uncheck the 20dB mic boost box. Once again, no problem with all of the questions. I was asking the same a while ago and I still find myself asking questions. Maybe I'll do another video on the setup, computer settings, Thetis settings, and Cakewalk settings.

Hey there rockhaller. I use the Focusrite Scarlett solo interface box. Some folks call it a sound card, but I call it an interface box. I run my RE320 into the Focusrite box with a standard XLR mic cable, then the Focusrite is connected to my computer with a USB type C to USB A cable. And yes, I route my cakewalk audio out of the headphone jack on the computer to the mic input on the Hermes. If you do it this way, don't for get to go to the Transmit tab in Thetis and uncheck the 20dB Mic Boost. Everybody has their own ways of doing it and for what I do up here, it works well for me.

Finally after cakewalk is the audio line level like it is in rack gear? Or does it come out the pc mic level?

Hey bud. Well, yes and no. Although I had pure signal activated, I did not have the feedback loop in place from the amplifier back to the Hermes which is another reason I had to keep the RF drive level out of the Hermes so low in order to give the Texas star the best chance of being clean. In upcoming AM experiments I want to explore how pure signal reacts to high modulation percentages, 120% positive peaks and above, before brick wall blowout. In those experiments I'll include my REA (Radio Engineering Associates) modulation monitor display. Lots of cool videos to come. Thanks for stopping by Art.

The kit does not include the 10k resistor. The 10k resistor is only needed if using the power switch option as I did and it is described on the Hermes Lite 2 plus web page. The companion board provides a mic input jack and Thetis has some decent audio processing tools. I recommend spending some time on the Hermes Lite 2 plus site and take in as much as you can.
