My name is Olena. I love crocheting, cooking, gardening, doing all kinds of crafts. I grew up in Ukraine and my mother taught me how to knit and crochet when I was a young girl. When I was 15, I learned how to sew. Since then, knitting, crocheting, and sewing have been a part of my life.
Now I live in the United States, in the beautiful North West. I have a very wonderful supportive husband, our son, and the best dog ever - Golden Retriever Lucy. By the way, Lucy gave her name to my website.

How to Crochet a Small Snowflake
In this video, I will show you how I crochet my tiny snowflake. You can find the written instructions for this snowflake on my blog: www.goldenlucycrafts.com/crochet-snowflake-small/
The snowflakes in the first picture are made of crochet thread size 20 with a 1.25 mm crochet hook and they are only 1” in diameter. For your project, you can use any yarn and matching hook. In the video, I am using medium-weight yarn #4 and a 4.5 mm crochet hook to make the stitches easier to see.

It seems like your beginning slip stitch or first chain may have been too loose. I also suggest working the first round under two strands to prevent a large hole. You can easily close the hole while fastening off the beginning tail. Thread the tail into a sewing needle, insert it into the stitches around the hole, and tighten it up.

Hook size?
In the video, I used lightweight #3 cotton yarn and a 2.75 mm crochet hook. However, the size of your hook will depend on the yarn or thread you're using. If you want your snowflakes to be very small, you'll need to use size 20 cotton thread and a 1.25 mm hook.
