If you mean during the warm up lap you can actually generate more heat from the brakes and longitudinal loading of the tyre. Side to side can help you feel how good the track is (especially if it's your first time that day or if it rained overnight etc) but loading on power and braking builds temp efficiently without the risk of graining the tyre, which excess scrubbing whilst cold can do. Yeah it's great fun, if you're a good driver with a decent engine its a great track. If your engine is even slightly down on power it can be very frustrating though, just holding the throttle wide open and hanging on to the steering wheel. With the old Fordies we used to have to trim all the drag out of the car as much as possible and with no wings they were getting some decent top speeds, around 150mph I remember

Yeah, lots of moves start pretty good, and then dumb stuff happens! They would have been able to see him rejoining after going deep in the chicane but it would've cost time to give some more room and with most of the track being flat out they wouldn't want to even lift off the power

He had a great battle with Lando for ages, then just got drilled by Petru Florescu, was a very aggressive year with everyone desperate to prove themselves in the new series and get to F1. A couple of punch-ups at the side of the track as they all got a bit heated!

Was full on bumper cars all year on this grid, thats what the Touring Car crowds like to see, they've got Mini's doing the same thing now

The Sr8 was fast, we were hitting about 170mph before braking into turn 1 at Estoril, I'll try to find some race footage from that weekend too, that sort of speed in those cars is nuts!

Guess thats where the F4 and F3 come in, although the costs have ramped up considerably since the Duratec days of this video.

@@greghegh yeah i know, its kind of standard for cameras we ran these years, theyd fail due to the vibrations too. Mainly designed as sports action cameras so not specific to motorsport. Thanks for watching

@@Monty3540 yep he can definitely still be outspoken, theres recent evidence of that in formula e recordings. The first few years of uk f4 with this car had some amazing talent on the grid that have all gobe really far in international racing, shows the strength we have in uk racing grids

@@pariodeusex yeah we got notification in late december, and up til then were supposed to be doing asian le mans and then michelin cup again so it came as quite a shock it happening that suddenly. Most of the mechs went to the rlr squad for this year

Relatively cheap cars to go quickly in, at this stage they were still hovering around 100k pounds which is good for the laptime you could get

Yeah euro masters was well supported and quite competitive throughout which meant lots of battling

The gt3s are pretty evenly matched, and theyre all pushing really hard as you can see fron the mistakes that happen. Brad is a very good driver, he's against pro drivers in the other cars too at this point. Stay tuned for part 2 and 3 if you like it, dropping over the next few weeks! Thanks

I think i've got him confused with another driver with exactly the same name, I thought he switched to F4 when he stopped posting have done some quick research and it appears it is two different guys lol. Both are very talented drivers however, I think he might even hold the lap record for a 4 banger radical at many tracks as hes faster than a Sr3.

@@pariodeusex Many thanks again for that, I've found Silverstone LMP2, my 2013 Le Mans car, the Jann Mardenborough Gran Turismo one, running it at the 2021 Silverstone Classic.

Nurburgring 25th May and Spa 29th, then RedBullRing 15th June with an SR8 again, and I've got Dijon as a possibility for LMP3 on the 19th. UK stuff inbetween, the formula ford one seems very popular!

I'll have a few more from the year I'm sure when I can dig them out, he's gone on to be very successful in GT3 type machinery I believe, particularly in Europe.

@@bassiliskos Well I'll keep putting his stuff out across the next few years, got a huge archive as sometimes I was running 5 cars a weekend and they each had 3 races. Scheduled out releases for each Saturday and Wednesday at midday if you want to see.

I'm the race engineer, still doing it! Martin's a great guy and really committed racer, last I saw him he was in the Chinese Touring Car Championship

Trying to think, I saw him in Shanghai, so would have been Asian Le Mans Series in either 2019, 20 or 21 have a search around that time. For me so far this year, Michelin Le Mans Cup, GT Cup, GB3 and will be British GT too, for now.

@@shuntmonkey6024 It's been relatively a while since you've seen him. Le Mans Cup is very cool! Have you ever managed to work with racers who came from sim racing, or are most of them from karting?

@@bassiliskos Funnily enough I worked on arguably the most famous sim racers biggest race, in 2013 I was at Le Mans doing data/strategy/driver coaching on the Greaves LMP2 that finished 3rd in class, it was the playstation/Gran turismo/Nissan Academy sponsored car driven by Jann Mardenborough, Lucas Ordonez and Michael Krumm. I don't have any footage from that year which is absolutely gutting but if you look at the Le Mans 2014 footage I have put on here, that is the same car, same team, same chassis number. Didn't really appreciate it at the time but looking back it was an enormous deal for him to come through and drive at Le Mans after winning the Gran Turismo tournament. Really nice guy also, great and easy to work with and very quick. Got to engineer that car again at the Silverstone classic 2 years ago when it was being put up for sale, lovely bit of kit.

He was very young here, we spent a week working on qual and race pace and feeling the tyre drop off, next race meeting he qualified on the front row and finished on the podium, massive steps in a short time

Yeah, but they do make some amazing crashes, and there's some that if you hit them just right they can help a bit, exit of turn 1 at RedBull Ring for example. Very easy to just lose traction or even launch the car.

Most come to F4 from Karting, don't know the exact numbers but probably around £200-250k for a full season, and I have heard it's often cheaper than the last year of karting for these guys.

These two were quite aggressive in their battling, don't think they got on during well during the year

Yeah he was pretty good, had the caterham academy interest when they had the F1 sponsorship which is why the car is in those colours. Probably a win if he hadn't ran wide at Clearways and let 2 cars through, live and learn.
