for anyone who cannot get the rear side pin out (like me), what you can do is use the socket side of a 6 inch 3/8 extension and a hammer to lightly tap the side closest to the radio out of place. The socket end is rounded and fits perfectly onto the pin, so it will not scratch anything! I spent many minutes messing with the one he did in the video, but got the other one out in 30 seconds using this method. For the OEM shifter the base is supeerrr wide. In order to remove the lower boot you MUST get a razor blade and trim the rubber off, otherwise it physically will not slip off. The wavy washer with the tabs that goes onto the shifter base did not fit on my kit, I had to reuse the old one as it had a slit that allowed me to actually fit it over the small flange. Otherwise, this video is perfect. I have a 2002 SE with the 6 speed.
