The Lost Tales

After starting to re-read The Fractal Prince I dediced to also start a new composition project as well. It is called The Lost Tales, a tribute to The Fractal Prince story. For the time being, this track serves as the opening theme. It has a slightly more gloomy vibe to it so maybe it could work as music related to the novel The Fractal Prince (which takes place in future planet Earth, a desert ...

This is something I came up today in a couple of hours. There is still a long way until it is finished. (I was supposed to practice composing with a pencil & paper but for some reason I got stuck in front of the screen. Better luck next time.)

Memories of Home / some action cues (Testing BBCSO Core + NPPE)

Breathing some life into old MuseScore compositions with the help of BBCSO Core and NotePerformer Playback Engines. Looking forward to craft these cues into a complete "action music" track. The video starts with a variation of "Memories of Home" (original was a choir piece) and is followed by some faster "action" music. I used BBC Core only in the strings section as I seem to have insufficient a...

In this case a set of A, E, D, G, F#, A C#, B. Repetition of a note was allowed but I tried to avoid it. A line might begin with any note from the set.

Toda la intro de Karppi es fantástica, desde la música hasta las imágenes en blanco y negro ❤ (es la única serie donde no toco el botón "omitir intro").
Nice
Thank you!
Tutorial, please!
Absolutely stunning!
Thank you!
what a multilayered beauty - it gives the feel of the endless lotus blossom
Thank you! I am relieved to hear that the different layers are distinguishable from each other. At some point I was aiming for "less is more" but decided to go "more is more".
@@LasseKarhu oh yes, i was going back many times, trying to fly through all those shiny layers of gossamer - i surely don't want to downplay any other positive elements of this rich music, but the complexity of those interwoven planes stands out so vividly

Great music, one of the best opening themes on Netflix that I heard recently
Very well done! Loved the modulation when the wings pop up , the calm music that follows and the credits roll music! What libraries did you use?
Thank you for the comment! I used BBCSO Core.
Wow, just wow.
I'm really glad that you enjoyed it!
Absolutely magnificent!!!

thank you, it is so pleasant to know you are still uploading it - feels like a saga) and we are glad to await new chapters

Who wants to live forever ?
Yes! The score of Highlander is a masterpiece.
so good
Thank you!
Which one you think is the best? I was very excited with iconica sketch coming to dorico but I think bbcso discovery might sound better.
I use NP4 for sketching and BBCSO for the final version. IS seems to offer some good options and additions for certain instruments.
So, BBCSO is the best in my opinion.
I talked with Siddall.....he said he actually needs the "SFX" worksheet from all the synths for them in order to complete the transcription of this work. I actually think it will be more likely to see the ALIEN RESURRECTION score first published........the Prometheus one would be also a great addition to their scores.
Interesting! I have a recollection of the composer being not entirely satisfied with production of the score. Might that be the reason the SFX worksheet is not included in the handwritten score, who knows? I am not sure if this has been in discussion but maybe some low (in terms of frequency) FX were done by lowering down instrument tracks by eg. an octave. At least that's how you would get those low booms that linger longer than natural studio acoustics would allow. I think I once did a mockup of the percussive instruments from Main Titles but it might be lost. If you listen the track transposed an octave higher and concentrate on the percussions you can hear more natural sounds of timpani, bass drum, steel cello etc.
@@LasseKarhu I heard Goldenthal had an issue with the copyrights owners in the studio. Don't remember exactly, but he said he will not authorize them ever again to publish any of his early works. It was not an issue regarding the work itself. The synth elements probably are not in the handwritten sheets because they were added later during the mixing (also, the handwritten score is quite a mess, there was a lot of rewritting and cuts same as in the movie itself).
@@LasseKarhu some FX could reffer to alter the audio with some of that (specially in the "alien" sounds there is a lot of weird FX like Flanger or Phasers, and choir sfx in "the rape" scene, plus the electric guitars) Also I notice the lack of vocals in lots of the handwritten score, the vocal solo of Agnus Dei is not present in any track, thou I think the melody is written in one part of the score (maybe in Lento) but no vocals, just the melody. If Siddall will ever release the score for Alien 3, he will have to talk with either Goldsmith, or Synthesizer programmer Richard Martinez. It's doubtful, but maybe the conductor holds a copy of the score he used to direct the recording (Jonathan Sheffer), which could be more polished.
Thank you for your super informative replies@@nicolashrv It seems there's still a long road to travel until Alien3 score is published.
@@LasseKarhu well......I think the best option is they complete the transcription of the orchestral parts, and leave a staff empty, and have a call to apendix each time a FX apperas, that will speed up the process, and in the event the FX program sheet is lost, leave it just blank. Better something than nothing. I mean, even if the synth programmer kept a backup of his work in a CD or a harddrive, it's 30 years....the thing must be in some land filler in Malaysia!

This soundtrack is way better than it has any right to be and imo this is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever! Mucho kudos for all the time and effort you put in! You did a f#$king awesome job! 👌😄🦖🤜🥳🦕👍🤗🤙
You are 100% correct about the soundtrack. Simply awesome in every way. My humblest thank you.
@@LasseKarhuOMG! You deserve it! I can hardly tell the difference between this and the original.! Check out the soundtrack for "Andre" by Bruce Rowland! 1994 track 1 and 7
Could you please post this in ita original key??
That might be a good idea. I will look into this soon.
@@LasseKarhu that would be great! In fact, any of the music from Robocop would be great!!
Cool ❤
Thank you!
Ohhh LASSE! I wish you had done more! I really enjoyed this ♥
Thank you very much, Enrique! Maybe I'll finish it after Thomas' feedback.
Good for you, Lasse! You have what you need inside of yourself! ♥@@LasseKarhu
Very imaginative, colourful approach. I like the timpani roll leading into the next section.
Thank you very much for the feedback. I often use a timpani roll whenever I run out of other ideas. :)
@@LasseKarhu I’ll have to remember that one. 😉
The piccolo at the top is so whimsical! The following triplets sound like their laughing! Super cute!
I hear the laugh now, too. Your comment made my day. Thank you. :D
@@LasseKarhu Of course! I'm working on this as well and so its really cool to see such a different interpretation of the music vs what I am doing.
Qual o nome desta música?
Não tenho certeza se a música tem algum outro título. Muito obrigado pelo seu comentário.
Linda e triste demais.
Some really lovely colours, here. Great work!
Thank you very much for the feedback!
Schön. :-)
Vielen Dank, Fabian :)
Your transition from the main melody to the 16th note bit was really smooth. I'm having trouble getting those 2 parts to work next to each other in an orchestral setting
Thank you for the feedback. I think I had a slight struggle with it first but somehow things clicked in place.
Lovely! I like the solemn trumpet at the beginning. You may have to check the notes at m.8 (G vs F in the bass?). Great!
Thank you very much for the feedback. I see what you mean. That part was my clumsy last minute approach to add another harmonizing line to the piece. This is more or less the version I sent Thomas which means I will fix this little thing (and all those other things he will add to the long list) after I've seen Thomas's feedback. Maybe I'll orchestrate the whole piece because this was so much fun.
Love it! any chance of getting the musicxml file for this??
Contact me via lassekarhumusic at gmail dot com and I'll send you the file. It's still unfinished though.
bro awesome bro.. you have any sheets for that?
Thank you. Unfortunately no. I learned to play it without sheet music and didn't write my own either.
Muse Sounds No.1
It does its job very well in this particular section of music.
Instead of "fanfiction for," it sounds to me like "tribute to" would be more accurate.
You are absolutely right. I will update the whole playlist in near future, including the descriptions. Thank you for the feedback!
I never skip because of the music❤i listen it every time, sometimes twice❤
It should be 10x longer. :)
Amazing music 🎶
Das ist richtig cool und schön. Ich wünsche dir einen schönen Abend. :-)
Vielen Dank. Habt auch eine kreative Woche für euch!
Thanks for sharing! I consider buying a sample library to use with NotePerformer and I must say for me secuund stands out. I find the sound of the strings so much richer. I wonder how it will behave in more pointy music
Thank you for commenting, Jan! I love that sound as well. BBCSO Core was on sale a while ago so it was very affordable. I try to post more examples soon.
Very impressive how Musescore sounds beautiful, compared to those expensive paid libraries
It certainly works very well with this kind of music.
Also mir fällt das sehr schwer.
It's art!!!!
Muse Sounds are very good. But personally, it felt like Noteperformer 3 was being played by a "larger band".
I like the way you described it. Agree.
This is great!
