Oh God I’m so tired of this crap. The current average home price is about $400,000 and the average sale price is $485,000. You think a 23 year old in 2024 can go out and put $80,000 and $3,400 a month before taxes? And that’s assuming they even get the loan. This is not like it was decades ago. Have you been living under a rock or still think Tucker Carlson is right that it’s these kids eating avocado toast?

@@eshuorishas9987 yup I do think this and know this.. I only bought my house 15 years ago, things haven’t changed much since then. Down here in so cal if you want to live in a decent neighborhood rent could easily be $3400/month. So yes people can afford a house payment because the rent they pay is higher than any mortgage right now. Now if you’re 23 and work at the car wash it’s time to get a second or better job. Believe me it’s possible, a few years before I bought my house I bought my 05 gsxr, very stupid of me because I have a child and trying to buy a house. My wife didn’t work, I already had a full time job and a weekend one but I had to get a 3rd one to afford this. Since then been working my ass off to afford this house, don’t get me wrong i never meant to make people believe that buying a home is easy it’s not it’s hard work. Hard work that you have to be willing to give up and sacrifice things to get that house. And I have 2 hass avocado trees, I make my own avocado toast.

Remember: Official inflation numbers have "Quality improvement multipliers" and alternations of the "basket" to "accomidate for what people are buying" - all of this is a "fix" in the way you would "fix" a boxing match - which is, generally illegal to do. But of course government is legally permitted to lie to you, and base their practices and actions on faulty data they created. Go figure. When you map the rise of the Gold price since 1970, when Nixon axed the Gold standard by ending the USD to Gold direct conversion - you will find the actual inflation rate is closer to 8.5%, which would net the value of 23k in 1973 to around 1.4 million of todays dollars. Now: Housing IS in a bubble right now, as are a few tech stocks, in part because these assets are generally appreciating at greater than inflation rates. The problem, is people are acting on false data - and because of this, money is concentrating more and more into a few very large Tech stocks (like NVIDIA), and realestate. Sooner or later, the bubble is going to burst, and the hope of Government and the Federal Reserve for a soft landing are going to be obliterated in an absolute ludicrous market crash that SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED when Obama first took office.

What cracks me up is they said “gutters” and “plants” like this was my major expense in my first home. Not, you know, 51 years of furniture, wood fence, plumbing and/or foundation issues. Nope.
