Line 6 Helix Free Neil Young Preset -- Filthy Tone!
Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)
This Neil Young song has the filthiest, nastiest guitar sound. It sounds like the amp is going to explode.
Pretty easy to replicate on Helix. I linked stereo and mono versions of the Helix presets if anyone wants to mess around with them.
The mono version may work on an HX Stomp, but I am not sure. If someone tries please let me know if it works.

I was giggling like an idiot while this video played in the background.
Like how long does the sand fished last until it gets sticky again ?
Great to hear it in A440, nice job !
Brother I did it today on my Electric and my dreadnaught. I am stoked !!! Thank you so very much. Bothe necks look beautiful with satin finish but most importantly, it feels great as I move my chord progressions through the fretboard. Thank you !!!
no
Can smell that naphtha through my speakers.. nice work man. thanks
Beautiful guitar❤
Thank you!
Is it lightweight
Yes, the guitar weighs just under 7 lbs.
ty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will it work on a prs 24 neck
Yes!
Hey there just wanted to say thanks 🙏🏻 worked perfectly!!!!!!!
Is it nickel or chrome cover ?
Can i just use Micro mesh pads?
Epiphone always let me down over the years, but this guitar looks and sounds awesome!!!!
I bought a set of Epitone pick ups with the controls and I want to put them in an SG that is not drilled out for those and I don’t have any way to make the holes bigger so I’m thinking of cutting off the wires and Soldering them back on
Simple and easy , no bullshit doing 100 steps. Thanks bro!
Can these also be added onto the POD HD500X?
No sorry they are not compatible with POD products.
Tell me your from Philly without telling me!😂 thanks for the tip bub.
Worked great on my maple neck Strat. Thanks.
should the neck binding be taped as well?
I wouldn’t tape the binding.
How fuck a nice guitar.
cool song..hook, etc
Didn't you sell it? What year of manufacture?
It's a 2020 model and I still have it.
@@roccocrocco817 Did you have any problems with the guitar? Will they still produce this model?
@@sabbathcross I believe this model is no longer produced. The only issue with the guitar is that the tuners have a little "slop" in them.... they're definitely cheap tuners. They are not so bad that they need replacing IMO, as they hold tuning fine.
@@roccocrocco817 At what price did you buy it?
@@sabbathcross I bought it used. I think I paid $350-400 for it.
That's a beautiful guitar! Which make and model?
It’s a Line 6 JTV59 Variax.
If you put them on a guitar that doesn’t have that system, that would be good to solder on the connector to the existing pick ups
Hi what brand is the LP copy?
I’d like to know, too!
Line 6 Variax JTV59.
Thank you man
I've destroyed my whole car with this pad when I was young. Now I will do a better job with it.. 😅
Can you do that with gold hardware?
A great video Rocco. Thank you so much. I have two great guitars with glossy necks. Played them less than the once with satin necks right from the factory. Was always a bit worried on the videos I have seen, but your's shows a simpler way and what I need. Will be my next weekend job :-) Thanks again
I can't believe they charged extra for a case. I've never paid extra for a case in my life, and I'm 41*. *update until now*
Anyone know how to connect the quick connect adapters with 5 wires to a gfs pickup with 4 wires??
My only thought (not having experience with the quick connects)... to do this you would then need another quick connect adapter kit for all your pickups you want to use in quick connect guitars. -- I am thinking that is fine if you want to swap a lot in and out. Great for people who have hot-rodding guitars in their budget. I am disabled and old, living on a fixed income, so no budget for dozens of changes per guitar, etc. -- Personally, thinking I don't need (what is advertised and hyped as) a "better mousetrap"... because for me, I may swap out the original Epiphone (or other Asian-made brand) pickup... but I would only do it once and done. And only if after making sure the rest of the electronics were breathing well before changing the pups. -- On a Strat for example... swap out the cheap wires, switch, and pots... just doing that will improve the sound coming through the original pickups. (Best to have a 40 watt soldering iron, lesser watts and it takes longer to heat up everything... ) -- I have several of the new Epiphones but had not considered changing anything (yet) on any of them... so I've not "looked under the hodd" to see if some of them have quick connects. IMHO, its a way to cheapen and speed up production costs... on a guitar brand that already uses cheaper woods, hardware and other electronics... It all the bottom line of profits... but I will say this is a really good example of using the quick connects. -- I am skeptical of the quality and durability of the pots they are making with these fancy connectors. -- Plus I am just an old school guy, I like how they were made in the 50s and 60s and I sort of think that's the "only" way to do it for me... But of course I have never owned an X-Box either...
I taught myself this a long time ago when I was experiencing stickiness and tons of drag & friction on pool sticks when shooting billiards 🎱
Best trick ever… been doing this for years…. Keep a pad in every case and drawer !
I am about to finally do this to my guitar. Been thinking about it for a month or so now. It's time
How'd it go?
@@roccocrocco817 Amazing! Super happy. It was already super fast for a finished neck, the fastest fiunished neck ive played to be honest, so I figured if i did the Brillo trick it would be like greased owl shit. And low and behold she is FAST. Looks great too. Idk, something about the look of a guitar that is built to be played just makes me happy. Now I feel my new fancy guitar is a tool and ready to be played upon. Appreciate your vids!
@@DrMurdercock that’s great - glad you like the results!
Does the chart include irongear pickups?
Thanks Rocco - that's a big step in the right direction. What I do is to use the green Scotch Brite first, which I'll call "Medium" and then go over that with 3M Fine (re-brown) and Ultra Fine (grey) pads of the same material to get a much smoother finish. If it's a bare wood finish I put some sealant or finish on it - I use Formby's low gloss "Tung Oil" Finish (NOT pure Tung Oil). Of course you don't need a sealant with a painted neck like you have here.
Long ago, I had a Carvin with a tung oiled neck. Such a smooth feeling while playing. I should never have sold that guitar.
I have a 2020 les paul with these pickups and this is the 2nd time they crap out in the middle position. In the middle position you can hear the neck but not the bridge pickup. They work in the other positions. Does anyone know how to fix that?
It sounds like a dirty switch. This video does a good job of explaining how to fix it. ruclips.net/video/xoBwvzkyHgM/видео.html
@roccocrocco817 no just tried it I guess I'm going to just upgrade them. Thank you though
What are the alternatives for the cleaner? And are they really necessary?
Not gonna lie, when you were cleaning the neck, for a second I thought you weren't gonna tape it off. I was like "No don't do it!!" then realized I was just being stupid
does this work well on natural maple necks (vs. mahagony etc)?
Yes sir!
Glen Buxton and Michael Bruce?
Can I do this on my acoustic?
Yes!
Wish they were available in black.
Please don't ruin your guitars.
Is it possible to use very fine sandpaper?
Yes!
Follow your directions for my bass neck. 10/10
Thanks for the video, any advice for a 2 pin adapter with seymour duncan pickup?
When I perform this process, I wrap paper towels around the strings to avoid any possible water runoff from traveling down the strings and getting down into the pickups. Even if you really squeeze hard to get excess water out of the pad, it is still possible to have enough water left to get down to where you don't want it to be.
