Revision is Creativity - (writing advice)

Gioia said that poetry "explores the paradox of being alive, knowing [a dangling modifier, Dana!] that this world and this life is our true home and yet not feeling entirely and yet not feeling entirely at one with the world." Could it be that we don't feel entirely at one with the world because it is not our true home? Or, as Wordsworth wrote, "Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting: / The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star, / Hath had elsewhere its setting, / And cometh from afar: / Not in entire forgetfulness, / And not in utter nakedness, / But trailing clouds of glory do we come / From God, who is our home:"

Richard Rorty tries to make a case that poetry is the most important form of philosophical discourse. I tried to read Heidgger's 'What is called Thinking' and some of his remarks on Georg Trakl, (a poet, of course), but I gave up rather quickly both times. Heidegger had much of value to say, but what fascinates me is that all poetry entails some philosophy, and much philosophical thought is a matter of poetic inspiration. Whereas Plato wished to banish artists and poets from the Republic, isn't the image of The Cave an especially graphic symbol, metaphor or poetic image?

poetry is nothing but lyrical masturbation...if a society gets advanced enough..some intelligent ppl will then use a language to play around with. they could say something straight up but choose to make it artistic.

Ohhh the descriptions towards the end on what poetry is was profound. Perfectly put!!! Poetry or art in general’s effect has always seemed impossible to describe, one becomes speechless, because simply put, the body is much taken out of this world into another when under the influence of poetry, some supernatural state, of heightened awareness & great dreaming & a strange way of sudden understanding things that are usually complex, poetry as a whole is another language, of angels, you might say. The native language of the soul we all are fluent in, & never realize until we stumble across a verse or book of poetry that seems to weave together & put to words some strange senses that somehow we have known all along. I love your videos a bunch, they are a pleasure to watch & learn.♥️
