Does it fit in a 80x80 tent?
I think that would be a bit tight. A 90 x 90 would be better. The board in the video is on top of a standard pallet 80 x 120 for reference.
Beautiful plant. Well done
Many thanks
Hey, was the problem yours, that you did something wrong, or was it the system itself because something failed? It would be good to know this because I'm currently thinking about getting the Growilla. If the system is prone to failures, I would probably switch to Alien.
Hej, This was completely my fault! The Growrilla equipment in my opinion is great quality, and at a great price point. Nothing wrong with their RDWC system at all. It is waiting for another run as I type! Good luck with your coming grow.
Hello, could you please tell me what kind of pepper this is? I have the same looking one right now and I am struggling to identify it as I do not have any fruit yet 😢
Hello, yes they are 'Olly F1' Peppers from Nelson Garden here in Sweden. Good luck with your grow! Is it DWC Hydroponics?
well done x
Thanks!
Have you experimented with aeroponic instead of hydro ? I see lots of people do hydro but aero sound like a much better principle by letting the roots get oxygen.. There a more part involve and things can clog more, might not be worth the extra maintenance
I haven't tried Aeroponics before no. Your right it does seem like an interesting growing alternative. There are a few kits available for an easy start i think, I'll check it out. Thanks for the thought!
Call it a stem....not a stalk.
Thanks for the correction.
Wow. You sure use a lot of unnecessary pans!
Haha yeh perhaps!
i found it could also be the humidity too high or too low too
This could well be a factor, thanks for the thought. There is a large fan in the room which moves a lot of air, and the tent door is open at the top for now. Will check back on it asap, and have a look. Fingers crossed its stable.
@@TheGrowZone hope to hear how u got on
Update vid, plant is thriving! ruclips.net/video/VYJASqCVXTg/видео.html
get a blue labs pH meter if you are serious about hydroponics... those cheap ones will just drive you mad. also, get a proper grow light.
It is a cheaper pH meter for sure, but I do trust it. Calibrated it not that long ago. The LED strips have been great actually, an experiment of sorts on the frame of the tent for sure. Confident it will work though, and soo much more room to work in the tent! They are plenty bright enough. Keep an eye out for updates.
Hi…..what size is the fermentation jar used please? I’m going to start but the local shop has a killer 5 litre which I think is too big for two people? Thank you.
The fermentation Jar is 3 litres. In my fermenting journey, I would say the bigger the jar the better! I have a bit of something fermented with most meals. Good luck with your batch.
Thanks for the video. May I ask why you don't adjust/lower your pH to around 6? Does it naturally balance for you with time? Or is it because this grow was coming to an end?
Hej! Yes your exactly right. Shortly after we shifted the plant over to Ripen from Terra Aquatica, then we harvested the Peppers. Also do keep in mind, your pH can range from 5.5 - 6.8. For Peppers in my experience above 6 is best. Good luck with your grow. Check out the playlist below: ruclips.net/p/PLFTXXQMrE2jM1PdLXLQsDkPYPQM6ZRWtn
Hey good Job..and iam new in dwc..and i was Read..that the water Must be lowsr and lower ...taller Tage roots lower or less water ?!
Thanks. Yeh the water required for refills will naturally become less as the roots get larger and fill up the pot. Just keep filling to the same level, just below the net pot and you'll be good. Good Luck!
If it's a bell pepper plant then it should be able to live several years in right condition
Yes your right, it was a sad day when we moved the plant on. We needed the tent for other applcations at the time and had no other home for it. It lives on in my compost. Stay tuned for another Bell Pepper grow with new Full Spectrum LED Strips. See link below: ruclips.net/video/opibRpKwWhE/видео.html
Seems like a superlight!
Thanks! Yeh I'm really happy with them. Make sure to check out the site for details and specs. urbangrow.se
Beautiful! 👊🏻🤘🏻
Thanks!!
Your pot looks to be made from aluminum. Is there any concern of unwanted flavors being transferred from the aluminum to the product?
Yes it is your right. It is a very old one that was left in my house when I bought it. Big though! I haven't had any trouble with mixes getting unwanted flavors or odors. Aluminum cook ware is fairly common, and very durable. Good luck with your Kimchi!
I dont find harvy 6 holder anywhere. Can you use the same product since it is basically same size on the corners for harvy 6, just with a longer LED light (80 cm) instead of 39 cm LED for harvy 3?
Hej @nemesis9378 there isn't a specific product to hold the longer Nelson LED's (60cm, 80cm). I remember testing it a while back and the 60cm being slightly to heavy for the Harvy 3 LED holder. The mechanism is sturdy, but it is still only plastic. There is a Window/tile hanger with suction cups and height adjustable chains though. See the links below to those, and my new LED's: Window Hanger: growzone.se/shop/leds/hanger-suction-cups-led-strips/ Urban Grow FS110: growzone.se/shop/leds/full-spectrum-led-grow-light-strip-fs110-110cm-ip65-samsung/
@@TheGrowZone Thank you for the answer. Yeah i have that suction cups available in the stores here, i was worrying about if it is strong enough to carry 80cm LED. It fits perfect in front of my window with Harvy 6. I was thinking that 80 cm LED is good since Harvy 6 is also around 80 cm. Maybe i should go for 60 cm which lighter for suction cups. It says suction cups can hold around 0,5 kg but not sure. Did you tried with long LED lights?
@@nemesis9378 The window hanger with suction cups is designed for the 60cm LED No.1 from Nelson. I haven't tryied it with the 80cm, but I think with a good clean service and good suction it will hold an 80cm. Good luck

This was delicious, never buying preserved peppers again, now doing my second batch!
bell pepers in the refridgerator
can you show how to do it
I'm a diabetic.. can I can these without the sugar? Or is the sugar needed to make the peppers safe for shelf storage?
The way I do them, is without sugar, they last many weeks, they are good. I put, white vinegar anger, some water to reduce the strong flavor,, garlic, parsley and olive oil, it have to been sumerge i the oil. I don’t keep in the refrigerator, cool, dark place. You can enjoy with crackers , with cheese On bread. The ones that I preserve for longer time I do it in water , and I can’t them. , hope it helps you
You don't need to brine them at all. You can do all of the steps aside from brining, place them in a jar with garlic, fill to the brim with olive oil.
I do my eggplants in a similar manner but I don't refrigerate I keep at room temp for a year
Wow, thanks for the comment. Good to know the preservation technique works so well!
You can close the peppers on a paper bag for them to steam. Works very well.
Thanks for the tips, I haven't grown any personally this year, but have friends with lots!
Hi Ian! Have you continued to use this planter? I bought two of these a year or two ago, but have not tested it out yet. Have you tested it with another liquid (hydroponic) fertilizer? Not sure if I can get hold of more of the provided type (tiny glass bottle that came with the kit), or if it is still any good… 😬
Hej, yes I have just broken down a botanium planter I had in my window. It should be OK to use most types of nutrients, and I'm fairly certain the one provided will still be good. Just give it a good shake! They also sell replacements in larger bottles if your not sure. Check out the link: growzone.se/shop/plant-nutrients/nutrients-refill-300ml/ They are a neat little unit.
I'm confused - One video says that any water in the jar will cause the food to go bad after a couple of weeks. Another video says absolutely do not refrigerate, just store in a cool place. Your method involves adding water (brine) and refrigerating. Can you tell us if your batch lasted more than a couple of months and if they were as good as you anticicpated?
Yes there are lots of ways to preserve a pepper! I can confirm that this method produced very tasty results, I/we ate them before my estimated storage time was up. They kept well for the 3 weeks they lasted in the fridge though.
Plant stuff at the beginning of spring in dirt
Ha I see what you did there Paul. I have a small green house where I grow traditionally using a soil and perlite mix. The kids and I have a cucumber just the other day! Hydroponics generally gives you far more control when growing, and in my limited experience the yields are far higher from plants grown using hydroponics vs traditional gardening. This video is a failed run due to my limited water science knowledge at the time, and an attempt to lower pH. I wish you luck with growing some food in whatever method works best for you. It is a rewarding and tasty hobby!
what fhotoperiod to flowerig'
Wohooo! First!
Good video
Thanks!
Superb video, keep up the amazing work, Ian!
NO WAY That's the golden thumb I commented on
? Did you see the other harvy pepper videos?
how often do you have to do water change
It depends on the size of your plant, and its environment. It is best to check the water level every couple of days with a large fruiting plant.
Why did it happen?
It was my fault. I had a pH spike, and tried to lower with Bicarb. The circulation caused it to foam and we lost the plants soon after.
how much salt did you use?
Check out the link. I finally did an ingredients list! growzone.se/food-preservation/kimchi-recipe-napa-cabbage-simple-ingredients-list-2-videos/
Can you use this technique and recipe for hot peppers? Without charring?
Hej, I can not be certain as I have not tried it. However I do know that the pre cooking, or grilling process helps to kill off anything unwanted to start, but also remove excess air that get trapped in the flesh of the pepper. Hope that helps.
How do you actually flush the leftover water with the residue? Is it okay to leave some water there? Is it not risky in terms of root rot etc.? I could imagine disassembling the system to flush it properly when plants are young but when older, that's not an option in my opinion. Soooo, how? 😃 Thanks a lot!
Hej, well having re watched the video, I could have got a lot more water out from the res than I did. You can tip and direct the pump around to suck out the last bits. The residue/sediment in the bottom is most likely inert particles picked up from the water circulating around, and from the grow media (clay pebbles in my case) getting splashed from air stones, and also from the roots as they swoosh about. If you have got to the stage of plants being to big to shift out of the way to completely flush out system if you are very worried, then your probably OK. In the past I have been able to lift the RDWC 4 assembled to take outside and throw away the last few liters of water, but I understand that is probably not a viable option for most. Just keep an eye on pH and EC as always, and give a serious clean and break down after harvest. Good luck.
No rice flour? Did I miss the rice flour?
Hello, No rice flour in this recipe. It is an adaption from the book 'The Art of Fermentation'. Do you add Rice flour to the paste to thicken?
Nice roots there!
Thanks! Still not sure it will grow though.
How did it turn out?
How long did the grow take??
Looking back this is when it was transferred into DWC - ruclips.net/video/8g4UEwyqTBU/видео.html I pruned it hard a few times as well, but roughly 4 months.
What do you do if liquid is going over the weights? Is it okay to leave it that way?
It should be OK. Just keep a close eye on it. If there is no cabbage bits or other floating/exposed to air it should be good. Any sign of mold I would discard to be on the safe side. Good luck.
@@TheGrowZone Many thanks, and fingers crossed:)
So you are PICKLING them?
No this is not a pickling technique. Pickling stops food from spoiling with the high acidity in the vinegar used. Preserving in Oil like in the video keeps the food from coming into contact with air after being cooked and added to a sterilized jar. Hope this helps. Good luck
I tought you always always need to ad Micro first.
Hej, sorry for the delayed response! I've been in contact with Terra Aquatica about this. They said Quote: "To my knowledge, no truth in it. The only important thing is to pour one, let it dissolve a bit in the solution before adding the next nutrient, so that they do not have any risk of precipitation." They CC'd a few other colleagues as well, so I will update you if they get in contact with me. Happy growing!
@@TheGrowZone Thanks. So i was wrong about this. Ans many others who made videos of it to.
No trouble. I have a memory of hearing it somewhere as well. Nice to have it cleared up from Terra Aquatica themselves. I had a further response from them actually, which confirmed the same about the order, and added mention of the importance of rinsing your measuring cup/tool in between each nutrient so that they don't precipitate.
bro where u hiding the real plants?
Nothing but edibles here!
Thank you for this, not what people want to hear but after post-ovarian cancer complications with obstructions in bowel..I have to avoid skins and seeds and really miss red peppers! So this is amazing, probably (?) not what you intended this video for 😆 Also great for ilestomists/crohn's/cancer patients and will post in my groups. Thanks so much!
All comments are welcome, thanks for your input. Hope that this method doesn't give you any complications.
Decreasing the flowering circle by 15 or 30 minutes or even 13/11. This will increase plant response to flowering. Not all plants get 12/12 hrs in nature i guess.
Thanks for the tips. I like the idea of season simulation in a grow tent. Happy growing!
