There is some truth in all the reasons stated here, but they are also exaggerated, depending on the handler, the rat terrier, and the bloodline that the dog comes from, assuming that people get rat terriers from responsible breeders who know what they are doing… Which I recognize many people would not and do not. I have been Answering emails and catching up on a whole bunch of leisure things that I have fallen behind on including RUclips videos, and I have four rat terriers who are surrounding me at the moment, one being an eight month old service dog in training. There's a whole bunch of noise outside my window, and none of them have let out a single bark in the last 2 1/2 hours. If people are not willing to put in the time and the training, then it doesn't really matter what breed of dogs they get. All dogs bark to some degree, all dogs chew to some degree, etc.

That picture is not a siamese it's a ragdoll, it's coats too long for a siamese. Siamese are much sleeker cats.

I'm sure they are very cool! I knew someone with two airedales and they were super cool! For me and I hope others it would have to be a rescue. There are just too many dogs with no hope of rescue in shelters today.

Or just sleeping in the coach... which they mostly do... No, they would rather sleep and destroy your garden and lawn. And when you take them for a walk, they suddenly stop! And want to go back home to rest. They are smart and will play tricks on you. Yes, they love kids, can't get enough for children...

I adopted an Anatolian Shepherd without even realizing it at first. The dog shelter told us she was half German Shepherd and half Golden Retriever. At first, I thought, ‘Is this dog a bit too muscular for a Golden Retriever-or even a German Shepherd?’ Later on, we discovered she’s actually an Anatolian Shepherd, which explains so much about her behavior at home. She’s incredibly protective, even towards our two cats, always on high alert and ready to jump into action whenever new people come to the house. But despite her watchful nature, she’s the most loving and affectionate dog in the world

  • @Lesley-qf7ec

Your commentary makes light of their needs. They are not simply a 'furry guard dog', they are highly motivated, independent, strong working dogs. If you don't provide for their physical and mental needs, you could easily end up with an aggressive, uncontrollable, frustrated dog. It is not a couch potato or a family lap dog. And any working dog is most definitely NOT for a first time dog owner, or one inexperienced with these types of canine. Especially ones as big and powerful as a livestock guardian dog.

Content creator must have the super special magical version to justify point #5. Every Brittany I have owned has shedded. A lot. In the field they will pick up all manner of debris in their coat which will require attention. It is very important to check and clean their ears, especially after having been afield with them. I agree that they are very intelligent. This also makes them somewhat of a PITA and you have to be diligent to avoid them trying to train you. They are excellent with children, sweet, gentle and loving.

One reason not to get an Aussie, I lost mine this year and I don't think I can ever get another one since any other Aussie will be held at an unreasonable standard. Such a great boy, miss him dearly.

Don't get one if you live in an apartment or on a small city lot. These dogs need space. They also need a job. There is nothing more destructive than a bored Anatolian. They bark a lot and loudly, especially at night. They are notorious diggers and their holes are huge. They are awesome animals for their intended purpose but are certainly not for everyone.

Great dogs, but I couldn't get her to retrieve a tennis ball or stick for the life of me. She just looked at me saying "Well, you threw it, YOU go get it.". She did enjoy playing hide and seek. She'd be distracted sniffing some tree and I'd hide behind another a little further up, when she finally got through sniffing she realized she had to find me. I always kept an eye on her though, just in case. She lived to be 16, which I'm told was unusual, and was healthy up until a week or so before I had to admit defeat and have her put down. Some kind of cancer. I cried like a baby. She was my buddy. Best dog ever. Oh yeah, almost forgot, she was a rescue at 9 mo. Had no idea what a Flat Coat was. We just bonded immediately.

Great sweet dog. Mines a mix and a great dog. Play fetch ? Mine chases the ball but waits for me to go pickit up. lol But gawd can she shed. I thought my Siberian Husky could shed. I would not trade her for a Million dollars.

What a parcel of nonsense. Toyger is NOT half wild-cat. This is a domestic cat. Show quality kitten is 2000. I say go to the shelter and find a cat for under 200.

The cost of a Toyger can range from $500 to $50,000 when purchased from a breeder. A single Toyger typically costs around $5,000. Keep in mind that finding a Toyger can be difficult, as you need to locate one that is TCA approved.
