It's a shame these details were left out, this stuff sounds world breakingly interesting.

This setup does resemble the structure of Star Fox 1's three routes, where Sector Z corresponds with one of them (Level 2) being characterized as a surprise attack through Venom's 'back door'.

The copperhead missiles on the train matches the ones that ambush the Great Fox in sector z.
