Proma SD vs 150 torch height control
Hello My Friend, I need help you. I am building a cnc plasma but have a question. I will use the board red Bitsensor Match 3 the question is the next. ¿What THC do you recomend to use? the THC POMA SD OR THC PROMA 150 ?
Well thought out. Can you stack your totes two high or just four?
I'd love to see an update or a practical video. To see how well it works. The fabrication is superb
That’s very well thought out! Sweet setup
Do you have any blue prints or sketches of the plumbing layout? Any contact info?
BEAUTIFUL -- THANK YOU - LOTS TO LEARN FOR US --- BTW, AT 6:00 WOULD IT BE SMART TO USE A HYDROLIC PART FOR THE LID OPEN / CLOSE ? I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR INPUT.
Nice setup.
Why don't you have the Proma on the side of the plasma unit like it states from the manufacture? You just doing it all wrong!
Which manufacturer? The proma itself can be mounted anywhere
@@practicalfabricator You don't know what you are talking about and are misleading the viewers! If you read the Proma manual you will realize. Page 4 of the manual: When connecting directly, use the shortest possible cables for connecting the plasma source with THC controller - it is recommended the THC controller to be located directly at the plasma source. You can also RUclips search if you don't believe me, two minutes into the video: CNC Plasma Proma THC 150 Wiring Breakdown Done Correctly
@@rosswoolley2854 Ross Woolley who? It's just fine the way it is. I used the full length divided voltage cable sent from Hypertherm I'm very much aware of how electricity works. Premier has since started mounting them with the break out board not the plasma source.
yup! complete wrong
Are the installation the same for the cnc4pc thc1
Been trying to put together parts for my own tender wagon and was wonder how you plumbed in the clean water to the jug knife and agitation.
It pulls water before the Venturi so it's pressurized but before any chemical is introduced
did you tap into the 3/4 inch port on y of the inductor?@@practicalfabricator
Very beautiful build, lots of hours into it I can tell. I have one on the way with many inspirations coming directly from your build. Have you considered running a T or 3 way valve directly off the pushing side of the pump so you can bypass the cone and super reel to prevent any type of contamination going into your tanks when using your pump isolation valve? I know it’s probably not a big deal to you considering you might tote pull from the pump if you need I’ve just been taught to eliminate as many variables as possible with chemical. I’ll make a video or send some pics your way if you want to check my build out, I’m an entry level welder without a plasma table so go easy on me!! Just wanted to give credit where it’s due, you have one of the most efficient, dual purpose venturi set ups out there. Much love from Saskatchewan
Thank you! This does very well at minimizing contamination as no chemicals go through the pump. Water is flushed through the flow meter after each fill and the chemicals are only added under velocity. So in theory it shouldn't have any still spots to settle in
I guess i dont understand how that works at 9:00. Nice build. I woulda put as many hoses under deck as i could
The thought with this was to be able to remove all the skids without changing the trailer. Hoses under would be nice
Also that whole thing at 9:00 wasn't a problem and didn't need that draw on the pump inlet. The Venturi can draw about 1:10 product to water
@@practicalfabricator gotcha. So you ran a T off the inductor one for venturi and other way went to pump intake. That would be nice sometimes for a small load
Yep a simple tee before the pump the Venturi is after
Pretty slick build. I like that the pump isnt full of chemicals.
That's my favorite part. Keeps everything very clean
Very helpful video. Have you had any accuracy issues with running multiple different viscosity chemicals all through the same meter?
Haven't noticed. The clear hose helps to see if it's metering air. The gear type is very accurate
Wondering how you got the SD working with mach3? My z axis seems to have zero movment after wiring the Proma SD...
Nice job on the waste cage. MUST have!
Wow. That’s a slick setup. Just chatted with you on TikTok about your Venturi. We have the exact same trailer ours is a spread axle though. We have a 2400 gal top air sprayer we tender to. I’ll be loading 85 gal of lexar to the sprayer I can’t get anyone to answer my question of how long will it take to pull that through the Venturi. I will be setting up 3-85 gallon cone tanks to pump into. Im not a fan of sucking through a meter I want to see the product in a cone tank. That’s just my preference. I’ve been using the high flow chem pumps and they pump fast. I load all jugs on the sprayer as it has its own 15 gal tank with a Venturi. And that works fine. I just don’t want to run chemical through my full pump. I want to have clean rinse water when I need it. I’m using a 3” pump now to fill. What do you think about sucking 85 gal of lexar through the Venturi? How long would it take? And then possibly 30 gallon of glyphosate. I guess the biggest question is do I continue to use suction side to empty my cones or the pressure side with a Venturi to pull it out. I’m ok with either way I don’t want to slow down filling time, but I also want to have clean rinse water if that makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to make that video.
I'm sure there is info on the ratio of carrier vs product. With really high rates I added a suction inlet 2" cam with a valve. With a rate that big you can measure the tote and pull. You can do cone fill pumps and venturi empty.
Depends on the pump pressure. But like you I had a 2" line sucking out of totes on a scale. This way I typically draw out about 30 gallons of Glyphosate in about 40 seconds. During this time it draws about 50-60 gallons of carrier. This is with a 3" hypro power pro pump at full throttle.
If you would run self test on THC , if you measured voltage from Up and Down signals what would they be? I'm having issue, everything is set up as you have it but if I try to run test without plasma on my UCCNC does not receive any signals, and if I select active low , depending which side i select the axis moves to that direction without THC giving any signals
As far as the signal it's switched. It's dry contact in the proma 150. Voltage in is the same as out
Like the aluminum ladder.
Looks good, I can see that you put a lot of thought in to your project. I’ve made a tender trailer two years ago, I’m going to use some of your tips on mine. Question, I assume on your Sprayer you have a rinse tank. Mine does, to fill it quickly from the tender . I use the 3” hose , normally fills the solution tank, after it’s rinsed, you can top off the rinse tank. I made a 3” male coupling to 2” female coupling. To do the job. I also have a Praxidyn Mixmate system, check it out. I would suggest you install a screen in front of the gear meter. It has very tight clearance. Also put a floating ball in sight gauge of the Enduroplas tank, I have a source if you’re interested.
Source for sight gauge floats? A piece of pex line will work in a pinch.
That mixmate is slick. I went with the venturi to eliminate as much as possible. This setup is much more manual but eliminates small electric pumps
What speed do u use to cut the holes
Holes, sharp corners, small arcs I run 60% of the book setting
What can u do to prevent the beveling of the part
For bevel it's tricky. Proper cut height, speed, fresh consumables, dry air, and squaring the torch to the table.
Where’s the inductor , totes? Look into Mixmate by Praxidyn.
Hi, I am building a project very similar to yours and have difficulties trying to understand as well as getting a visual throughout the video dozens of times of how it's wired into that bob. If you can assist, I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Around 2:28, can you explain how you plumbed that airline up, what kind of fittings, where to get them, etc? Have a new trailer we are trying to set up similar. Thanks!
It's tapped into the trailer air tank goes through a check valve then a ball valve before it goes into a nylon push lock. This prevents backflow. You can get an this through c&r supply is a new terra flow fitting that you drill and tap to 1/4 npt
I saw your gantry moving at the end of the video as you were talking about the SD- so unrelated to the THC: are you able to program limits into your Mach 3? I tried it and reversed the A and Y motors. I would love to know my table can't crash and I saw one video explaining it but it wasn't able to do it.
You can, but it just doesn't work well. You'd need a better break out board that can have physical limit switches
Your video is better explained in common sense detail than even Premier's THC setup video. I am having some issues with diving and the torch moving my plate during a cut, rendering the part bad. Still playing with the height....
Thanks! If it's diving keep increasing voltage
I had a problem with my Proma SD where the z keeps rising. Such a PITA to debug because Mach knows nothing about it. Nice tip on feed rate vs voltage. I have the same Premier Plasma table as you, cutting 3/16 mild steel at 45A, 65PSI, 63 IPM straights, 90% adaptive speeds on tight turns via Fusion360 settings (Cheap Everlast 80S with ipt 80 torch).
I have a proma sd controller on my plasma and I cannot make the setting so that when it starts to cut one part, it rises by 2 inches, moves to the second part and descends until it touches the metal and rises again to a 3mm turn, the plasma turns on and then the control goes to the proma sd .my plasma moves from part to part at the same height and hits the metal and breaks, no one will tell me how to set up mach3. everyone tells me the same thing but does not tell the main thing. who knows if he can help. the program for writing j codes uses smar nest only x and y axis.
Hey! Sorry for taking so long to get back. I use Sheetcam but I'm sure your program can do it as well. When I set up the cut file and nest I also set that the torch will raise to .75" before moving, it probes raises to initial pierce height then lowers to the cut height. Mach3 doesn't control that. Let me know if you want me to make another video on that!
Hi, do u have parameters for the THC proma sd for each sheet thikness ? It would be very helpfull for me to have that
Hey, for the voltage setting set the delay time to 10. Start cutting, once the voltage levels out that is your setting!
how to adjust the height for the transition to the second part so that it goes up 2 inches then goes down to touch anyone know how to do this.?
That is taken care of in your nesting program. I use Sheetcam
I think control Thc its very very important ,THC Hypertherm very high price .I think SD proma full control direct Step Dir or best 150 model ? , i have Control Csmio-ip/m and Powermx Sync 65?
Nice little tips, I have the same table in 4x8.
Hey bro.. I have been struggling my thc.. Chinese sh hc31.. I can't get it going
Hey! Sorry I don't have any info on that type of controller. I've only worked with these Promas. The best way to start is to max out the delay and record the voltage is running before the correction.
i could use a little help on your post processor in sheetcam what post processor are you using? the one i have is premiere plasma if this is the same as yours did you have to make any changes to the code in the post processor other then the offset. for the THC
I'm using the premier post. I'm my other video I mod it to go negative. Otherwise all stock
Great video. Thank for all that valuable information
I would like to know what's inside the Proma 150, the technology and why it's so expensive for a piece of equipment that does very little. After voltage dividing I don't see why it's costs so much?
Hi friend, which MACH3 control board did you use?
thank you for your video I wanted to know if you programmed something in mach3 in plug-in control configuration? Thank you
Nothing special. In Mach3 I assigned THC up/down in ports and pins
Hello question. Did you have groundings everywhere thru the table? Thanks
Yes, the slats are all grounded to the machine from underneath
how to set up match 3 for promo sd
No changes needed! Mach3 doesn't even know the SD is there making changes
Hello great video! Question did you still need to have a switch for floating head acting as probe? Thanks
Yes. That is handled by the post processor in Sheetcam and allows it to stay on zero. This can also be done manually however.
Hello again, can you share the test that you show on your video? I finally has the proma to work on test mode, but no able to get it to work on mach 3. Thanks
😎👍
compare a new one to a used one
When you change input signals is when you have proma sd , for this proma 150 this is not necessary
FYI, the video says you connected the up/down to inputs 1/2 but you’re actually wired for the default of 2/3 (pins 11 & 12). Pin 1 is the Arc_OK, which I’m curious about because yours appears to be pre-wired - where are you getting that signal? Ours was not pre-wired, and Mach3 wouldn’t run a program with THC enabled until I wired from the Proma’s Arc_OK output to input 1 on the interface board. Then… for reasons we can’t figure out, Mach3 ignores the THC up/down requests. We can see them in the diagnostic screen, but the PC will not adjust the Z height in jog mode or during a program. We overcame this by checking the box in Settings | Pins | Milling to Use THC input regardless of THC being on or off. Now the THC works during a program, but during jogging / manual cutting it will only adjust up, not down. Seems like a bug.
Yes you are correct. My mistake. I just uploaded a new video with some more information. For the thc to work it needs three arc signal. I pulled direct from the cpc on the machine. It's an open closed signal needs one ground and one to an input
@@practicalfabricator Thanks! Yep, watched that new video a couple hours after you posted it. We’re on the right track with the wiring, but can’t solve the Mach3 behavior completely. The Milling setting seems to essentially say “ignore the THC on/off selector and force it on always”. This probably isn’t an issue in practice, if that’s what it takes, but seems to be working around a bug. We’ve seen videos where this is working normally, but can’t tell how our Mach3 setup is different.
hello, sir. Does THC150 supported only Mach3 Parallel port? Can i used Thc150 with USB mach3 breakout board?
The 150 will integrate into any break out board that has two pins available for up and down signal
What kind of smoothstepper/ breakout board are you using? Is it usb and/or parallel? Thanks
This board uses a parallel port and USB it's the stock one that comes with a premier table. Says stv-1
Dual parallel and USB. It requires both
Thank you for this video. I don't have Mach 3, I have Sheetcam with a Masso controller. Would I use the 150 then? Thanks!
You're welcome. If you have a break out board that has two inputs that are available you can assign it in your ports and pins settings
I just ordered a 150 to change out the sd on my premier table so that I can have a functioning 'arc ok' signal, because of your video. How much of a difference are the connections to the 150?
Sorry for the delay. It's not too different. Google the manual and it shows a diagram. You can pull arc ok directly from the cpc port to the break out board.
Hey I have some videos up if you'd care to check them out
