Here’s a recording tip I haven’t seen anyone else share. You can send audio from your computer through your guitar pedals by using one of them as an audio interface if you have a boss RC-300 or other usb compatible pedal. Hope this helps someone out there!

Curious how did you do your prints? Did you go with a local specialized photo print shop or a big-box store type place? They came out really cool and I agree the colors look really nice. Also scanning them back in using the pixma is a brilliant and simple (and affordable) way to get a very cool aesthetic from the way it turned out. I really like the look. Quick second question, for the color pictures in the book taken with the LX3 what picture profile did you use? For black and white the dynamic b&w is my fav, but haven’t settled on any of the color profiles yet. The color ones turned out really good looking so curious what color profile that was. Cheers

The LX3 was my every-day carry camera for years and years, usually set to that Dynamic B&W mode. I still use it from time to time. I really appreciate the fast startup time, perfect for pulling it from a jacket pocket and catching a moment. I bought an LX5 a few years later but never cared as much for it.

Really liked the video. I just gave my 14 year old this camera for her birthday. Curious to see what she gets out of it. The music was also great. Nice change from the needle drop stuff.
I was going down this same rabbit hole these past few days and the older digital cameras with a CCD seems to be exactly what I've been wanting. And the dynamic black and white is worth the price along. Looks so amazing

just got mine and it’s my 1st ever compact manual camera. It’s been really fun, do you know if the auto Lens cap for the LX7 fits the LX3 btw? Finding the accessories for this has been difficult also what is the music you used in 10:40

The "film like ccd sensor" main factor is the cork sniffer syndrome! 😂 I have the LX 2 Lx5, and no, they don't look anything like film! And I shoot 35mm and developed my own negatives! How can a digital photo look anything like film unless you actually print it on paper and do reprography with a 35mm camera! Ha

What settings do you use for color with the lx3 ?
I've devoted a lot of time and experience to shooting, as well as searching for a film-like kind of image, and I can say that this guy came closest to that. All those presets, like camera presets , including fuji and those sold by hyped photobloggers, are far behind. This guy must have at least as many subscribers as these inept bloggers!)

There are four cameras from that gen: The Lx3, the G12, the P7000 and the EX1 - TL500. Samsung by far bested all others.

On my third LX3 since 2010 (one just stopped working, the other I dropped, but I will attempt to fix it), I Just got my third. The main reason is the Black & White Dynamic and Nostalgic modes (note you can shoot in both Raw and jpeg), and the other is pocketability. Even though I own an X100F and VI, they are just too big for everyday walking to the shops usage, and the LX3's lack of size makes it less visible in a street context (though my main interest is shadow and light on buildings and, in particular, modernism). UK £120-180, I picked up a near-mint one for £143. Before the TikTok X100V lunacy, a friend I recommended buying one got it for £40! Also, the LX5 and LX7 increase in size, defeating the idea of pocketability. Note; the X100F also has a softer black and white look, which reminds me of the LX3, though even these are stupid prices; I bought mine s/h for £650 in early 2021, and now £900!

Hi, great video! Where did you find the auto lens cap? I found one for LX7 model on aliexpress but I don't know if it is compatible with LX3 🤔

Congrats on the Zine! I just bought a LX3 myself for 150€ on ebay. Do you think this price is appropriate? It seems Ike it’s in very good condition! I’m very inspired by Daido Moriyama who used to shoot a lot with small digital cameras, very grainy bnw pictures with strong contrasts.
I also love Daido and I think the grainy art filter on here will be lots of fun for you to check out. There’s also a good app inspired by his look for your phone camera to check out called Provoke Cam. Who can say what anything is worth? If it’s worth it to you then it’s a good price. 😊

Great video 😊! im new in to photography and I wanted to ask what settings do you use for your lumix? I’ve got mine from eBay last year 🙈.
I have also enjoyed older digital cameras over their newer replacement models. I have an x-t2 that sits on the shelf in favor of my 9 year old 16 mega pickle x-e2s. I just had a conversation with a friend that wanted to upgrade his aps-c Sony camera. One of my favorites to use was the original fuji x100 but the autofocus was painfully slow. I love how soft and dreamy it looks wide open. You have made a wonderful book and I will definitely add it to my cart to purchase soon. I made my first short zine last month and I can totally relate to your enthusiasm.

sir, the last photos are isn't raw and you edit it ?
@@olds10 Yes, the last group of photos are from my book. I shot those RAW but for some of them I preferred the JPGs and used those. I posted another video about making that book and talked about how I printed the images onto photo paper and rescanned them. I just wanted to note that in this LX3 video, the sample images are not the print scans, they are the original but edited photos.

I love digital camera's this got me into photography. My first camera is NIKON COOLPIX S2800 and I just got my second digital camera which is the MINOLTA DiMAGE X20. I think this the beginning of my new hobby in to photography.

Somehow my nikon D850 (CMOS) produces similar colors than any CCD camera. Now, how's that? 🤷♂️
@@violet_world9385 awesome! There are a lot of CMOS cameras known for their special “filmic” sensors. The canon 5D classic comes to mind as an example. Thanks for the comment!
@@Bensen.Creates As does the Canon 30D and 40D. I have both as well as Lumix LX3. The LX7 (which I have) and the Leica D-Lux 5 (same as LX5) does NOT have the same "mood". Thanks for the excellent video.

your colors are so great !!! i dont know how but my color photos are always too yellow or blue, they rarely look as modern as your photos, could you tell me your settings to get the photos not look from 2008 all the time please?
@@abdeltzchibi3122 that’s too kind! Yes, the RAWs can come out with strange white balance. When I shoot jpeg, I use the settings in the “my film” presets shown in the video. I’ll make a video about how I edit in the future if there’s interest. Thanks again!

For your colour shots, are you shooting raw and editing them, or shooting jpegs with the profiles you showed from 9:38 onwards

For the photos from my photobook, I’ll be posting a video soon about the process, but in general I do prefer to edit RAWs and if I shoot jpeg, it’s usually black and white. If I’m shooting jpeg colour, it’s the “my film” settings shown in the video. If I recall correctly, I got those “my film” settings from One Month Two Cameras and she got them from someone online. I’ll post some more videos soon with more info on my editing if anyone is interested :) thanks again!!

Some beautiful shots in there! I also snapped up one of these cameras on marketplace and love the the Dynamic black and white. I'm less in love with the colour options, curious as to what your go-to is there, or are you mostly editing raws? Cheers!
