Call A Timeout
США
Добавлен 4 дек 2020
Welcome to our small space on the web. We love all things travel, nature, adventure seeking and checking off a list. The National Parks are our main jam but we don't want to limit ourselves. You'll find us searching for the next best waterfall, roller coaster or nerdy book adventure, all in the name of fun. Join us for the journey, because life is just one big timeout!
Grand Canyon Rim To Rim- North Kaibab to Bright Angel in one day!
It's so hard to put into words this journey. It was a monumental, physical task but the mental toll was equally as hard. We started on the North Rim at 4am, and finished at 6:30pm on the South Rim. 10 out of 10 would do again tomorrow! We did this hike September 9, 2024.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Lake Erie!!
Просмотров 76Месяц назад
We were headed home from our trip and we had to make a stop at Cuyahoga. We were driving right by it!! Brandywine Falls is beautiful but it's the history of the whole area that will bring us back to explore more. Can you name all the Great Lakes off the top of your head? We love a good roller coaster and Cedar Point is known for its extreme coasters. We needed one last hurrah before school started again for Taryn and off we went 7 hours north. Cedar Point was awesome! Our favorite rides are Steel Vengeance, Valravn and Millennium Force, what are your favorites?! Code: PA4FYDS9AE0F906D, 3VHM3N2BANNXBUVQ, X0QCH1EZXQGXMLHP

Congratulations , and then for going over to the Albright Traing Center hunting my photo. I'm really surprized that exhibit panal is still in use. The Trainging Center staff must have enough of that one panel so that they could display a fresh one every so often as the colors do blech out in time. Mom and I spent three months - twelve weeks - getting a thorough taste for our National Park Service assignments that followed. Thanks for remembering us with those final comments.
Massachusetts? The Nudist spot?
Nope, definitely not nudists, this is Cummins Falls in Tennessee.
I would need about 7 days and a helivac rescue somewhere in the middle to accomplish this task. You are both tougher than me!
It was a remarkable experience for sure. Did you see we loved all our Brandon Sanderson stuff to a new channel? @fannedpages, so all that stuff is over there. You can see our night at the Worldhopper Ball!
@callatimeout6077 must have missed that announcement I am sorry! I'll go subscribe now!
Runtastic Nebo! That one of my favorites! I have my PR on that. Congrats on the hike. My wife and I are trying to plan this as well. Well…… My wife is planning :)
He ran the Nebo Half in 2021, he loved it and it was one of his faster times. We used to live in Utah and there are great races in those parts. Thanks for watching, it is worth all the planning!
Oh my goodness! So emotional! Reminds me of our hike in 2020, that last 3 miles is so hard! Loved seeing all the familiar places! Way to go! You made it!
where did you stay on the south rim side? where did you eat after the hike?
We ate in the restaurant of Bright Angel Lodge and stayed at Maswik lodge. We chose to eat first, all gross and then walked to our car parked at the Backcountry lot and drove around the corner to the lodge.
BTW, I think I noticed a slight building crescendo to the background music as you approached the rim. The suspense was building and I expected trumpets and a musical celebration at the top. However, I was caught in a tough spot, being a sympathetic crier and all. We were all in tears at the emotional impact of success; I stopped noticing any music.
Anthony may have timed the music to build as we came out. The added cinematic touch. Thank you for watching.
That was a wonderful experience I just haven't ever and will never have. Glad I could watch it. I could have managed that only in the 3 weeks I was in my physical prime, (a few decades ago) but I never would have. And what's also sad, even though I've been up the Bright Angel Trail (over 30 years ago), I don't have but a few fleeting memories, like being greeted by snow flakes when we emerged at the top (It was Thanksgiving). We may have had it more comfortable than you did here. Great video, and it didn't feel like 45 min at all.
At about 28:00, right before you wet your hat in the stream, I thought you might have inserted some pictures of you and the boys on your previous hike. You said that set of steps was the perfect photo spot. You kept talking about it, are you embarrassed of them?
That journey can be found on the Rim2Rim video from that trip. Have you watched that one?
Awesome adventure you two. Thank you so much for the great video. You captured a ton of what it's like hiking R2R. It's been two years since my last R2R. Maybe 2025 will be my third, although my first R2R was actually R2R and back again after a rest day on the NR, so does that count as twice? If so then 2025 will be my 4th. My daughter went last time. She carried my pack the last 3 miles up BA, and was so kind to her old man (me). Thanks again.
Thank you for your kind response. Your daughter was kind to carry your pack. If we go again in 2025 we will share our journey again.
Great Job! incredible effort.
Thank you!
Did it 10/1 - 10/2 2023.
I hear October is a great time to do it.
Awesome video - I saw your post on the Facebook R2R group. Planning on doing the exact same route on May 27. Thanks for sharing this and also showing that it is 100% possible to have a fun time while doing this trudge! (Edit: I live in Nashville - driving out there over two days beforehand.)
Nashville!! We are just an hour east of you. Savor it, it's amazing.
@ Quick question - you made reference to a map that had most (though not all 😀) of those bridges on the North Kaibab on it. Which map were you using?
@DannyW-uz5kl the official park service map. It was lacking in many respects.
@@callatimeout6077 Thank you. I have the Nat Geo / Trails Illustrated map and not nearly enough detail. AllTrails website and print-outs of zoomed-in sections is what I am considering doing.
Huge congratulations so you both! I run there and shoot video, a couple times a year, and I felt that emotion at the top, when you finished. I still get that way, because being in the Canyon is such an amazing experience. I could tell your wife was starting that downtrend towards being in trouble, as early as Manzanita Rest, and definitely showing it at Phantom. I was hoping you'd take her pack from there, or at the base of Devil's Corkscrew. Tank tops are a no-go in the Canyon because they expose so much of the skin to the sun. Doesn't matter if SPF50 keeps being slathered on, the sun is still on the skin, at high altitude, where there's less protection. It's like being microwaved all day long, and it brings on sunstroke and high core body temp which is devastating, and nearly impossible to turn around. Same goes for cotton shirts, especially that you had 2 on. Literally just cooking your core, and elevating that core body temp. The shirts to be in are the white, long sleeve, perforated "dri-fit" fabric shirts, like the Nike ProCombat. The white reflects the sun. The long sleeves keep you protected, and the shirt breathes well. Take shirts off at every water crossing, and soak them, hats, and hair. It's the only way to keep the body core temp in check. Much lighter packs, like an ultra running race pack, would have made a huge difference, not only in weight, but in how they sit on the back. Those heavy, fabric packs, hanging down at the lower back are just day wreckers. Same goes for all the extra stuff that was in them. Less is more in the Canyon! Great job, and I hope you refine, retool, retrain, and go back for a redemption hike!
We appreciate your insights and we learned a lot from this first trip. We were saved by the creek and soaking ourselves every couple of miles. We want to go again in September with our 17 yr old, and we'll be better prepared!
@@callatimeout6077 You guys will have a blast, and Sept. can be a great time, especially late Sept. We started backpacking there with out daughter in 2008, when she was 8, and returned just about every year. In 2015, she and I started running R2R, on our birthdays, mid-Aug (her 16th and my 53rd). We did 5 in a row, and she joined me in '21 for a Rim2River, and in mid-Aug '22 for another R2R. We add high absorption magnesium to our drink mix, on every fill, (Liquid I.V.), and for the first fill, a vitamin B complex 100 pill. We also each carry a bottle of 5hr Energy Drink as a backup plan.
Wow, what a journey that must have been. Amazing and thanks for sharing the adventure. Take care.
Thank you for watching, it was a journey that changed us.
the energy of the room and the atmosphere there was incredible. Felt like a dream and it went way too fast!
It really was. We have both brought it up so many times. It was amazing. We have moved all our Brandon Sanderson content to @fannedpages, so if you want to see anymore of us and the crazy fandom go follow us over there!
I’m glad you paid the highest amount for leather bound. Sanderson has an updated anybody else on how quickly we’re going to get ours and I will never back his project ever again. If you wanna clear understanding of how a man works, it’s understanding on how he communicates to everyone. All he cares about is the highest level backers and his newest project that he wants to sell. I will never back Sanderson ever again.
I'm sorry you have had a negative experience. We love our books and hope you get yours soon.
@ that’s the problem. He is delayed all of the other books because of light day sale. He has not updated anyone on when we will get the books. I was hoping to get it for Christmas for my son who is a big Sanderson fan. I don’t expect to get it within a year since I’ve ordered them. It is inexcusable.
@nathanaelmyer5121 We agree that with Light Day the shipping situation has become frustrating. Have you gone to the website to see where he shows which pledge level the shipping is on?
@ I have. There has been no updates for a month. Sanderson doesn’t talk about it in his weekly updates. No updates on backerkit. It very much feels like he took my money and ran.
@@callatimeout6077 quite honestly, if we don’t have this book within a year when I know the product is available a class action lawsuit is required

Is this canon?
I mean the songs are definitely off world but everything else is cannon. Our full video of this will be coming out in the next week, look for that.
IT IS NOW
Such a blast!
I feel like for efficiency sake you could have pulled over at the falls and saved substantial time. However .... Journey before destination and all that jazz. Hahaha Badge day tomorrow! See ya soon!
We are picking up early on Wednesday, so excited!!
Safety first! Hahaha sweet book!
We wanted to give you a heads up that we are splitting our channel to give Sanderson stuff it's own location. Go take a look at @fannedpages!
Fun day at the amusement park! Seemed to be good weather!
Great Lakes. Remember HOMES. Lake Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie and Superior.
That's genius, thank you!
Fun. Liked the last part of the falls video with the music and fast motion... Nice to see you....Teri
Thanks! Come back for the Grand Canyon video next.
I know you are going to Nexus, but what session/day for the Worldhopper ball are you going? Just curious! Love your vibes despite the server/buying chaos.
Hello!! Welcome to our small world on the big wide web. We are going to the 4th session, Saturday 5:00 pm...I think. I should really look up that official start time.
I would be careful about keeping the book Shrink-wrapped cause I heard it can mold.
Any content for this game while I wait for mine to arrive is great. You should definitely do a playthrough!
After reading the manual, it plays like Star Realms. We are excited to play it soon! Thanks for watching.
Awesome! I used to have a Star wars episode 1 game that was awesome! That's really the only one I ever played. Hope it's as fun as it sounds.
Back in my day, we had to do this hike just get to the kitchen both ways! Kids these days are so soft with their paved trails and shady trees. Lol love you guys
You're not wrong, we have to go out of our way to find the really hard things in life! If you take a look around at our other adventures, we push ourselves though. We've got half marathons and full marathons under our belt and coming up in a few weeks you'll see us hike Rim 2 Rim in the Grand Canyon. Thanks for visiting.
@callatimeout6077 lol this is Cade by the way
🤣🤣🤣🤣! Hi Cade! You should join us next time, we'd have a great time.
As soon as you said Rock City the first thing that pops into my head is the Rack city song by Tyga. If you are unfamiliar you'll probably want to keep it that way. Rock City seemed lovely.
Hmmm, very unfamiliar with that song, and we won't look it up now, thanks for the heads up. Rock City is a spot to put on your list if you're in the area.
Alright, I have to admit that even those I was poo-pooing this during our family call, I must admit this seems like a very cool site. Pretty, cool, green and shady. The entrance fee is still pretty steep, but this is much nicer that some of your generic boring visitas from some of the boring National Parks in previous vids. Pretty neat-looking, actually. Taryn wasn't with you?
We're glad you enjoyed it. It is a pretty cool stop. This was the second day of our anniversary trip, so Taryn was at home.
you guys are hilarious
Thanks, we try to have a good time always!
I was backer #463 and got a number over 3000 =(. its all random
We were right next to each other. We were #437. I understand why it's random but I do wish they could go with the backer #. Thanks for watching!
Amazing!!😊
The books are amazing, thanks for watching!!
I'm a stone warden and the wife is truthwatcher. Our boxes are coming soon hopefully
@FlintandSteelSurvival Taryn is a truthwatcher too!
I have not started down the leather bound rabbit hole and my wallet thanks me. However I cannot deny the cool factor.
@@FlintandSteelSurvival once you do, you will be hooked. Stay away from them as long as you can.
Me and my wife just celebrated 10 years of marriage on 10/10 and we also hiked three trails in three states in 4 days! Congrats on 26 years you crazy kids! Thanks for taking us along!
We love to hike and are so glad you got to get away with each other It's so important.
I'll be watching for you guys there!
FOMO!? of this?
Any rock formation in Tennessee is a must see, because the landscape is mostly trees. So yes, fomo was a real thing but no more, we've seen it now.
Shelob is the spider, and what a beautiful hike!
It might be time to tackle LOTR.
Dang that looks like a fun spot. Nothing wrong with 50 degree water you gotta embrace the shivering. Haha
If we had been better prepared, I would have tried it that day. I'm an 80 degree water girl. Next time!
I know this is an old video. Hopefully you see this post. Thank you for sharing your video and I hope all is well.
Thank you for visiting our channel! We hope you enjoy your time with us.
Wow, guys. Its nice to set the entertainment bar so low. A convenience store and a truck stop?! Granted, I have never been to one. Maybe I'm missing out? I really want to see that upcoming Rim-to-Rim Grand Canyon Hike/painful self-abusive exercise video!
Oh, Buc-ee's is a destination. You're missing out, but you also may not be in the target market if you don't drive very far/often and are sick of the high cost, low quality fast food you find along the interstate system. They are the fun/ comfortable rest stops with high quality (still not cheap) food ready to go. Hopefully I'm just restating what you already saw in the video... You need to check one out!
Looks like an awesome trip! You guys are hardcore, I cannot handle all the roller coasters any more!
We struggle to hang like we did when we were younger. But we do love a good roller coaster, just wait for our video about Cedar Point.
Been on a binge of convention content recently and was so happy to find your video!!! I was able get through so many technical difficulties and get tickets with my fiancé to come to Nexus 2024. Seeing the convention site and the craft rooms made me pull the trigger and get the craft kits! Hopefully you video this years convention especially the Ball! I am so beyond excited 😊 Thanks again for this incredible video!
We are going, and planning on the ball since we could only swing one VIP from our friend Liz! That ticket buying experience was the worst ever! Be sure to say hello if you see us.
We need a full report on your research of the falls. Video essay style. Hahaha awesome looking waterfall nice and close to the road. Looks like you gad fun even though its short.
@FlintandSteelSurvival Great idea;) Life has been busy (which you can tell when we're 6 months behind in posting) and the result is shorter videos, but we love sharing these places with people. Our goal is to be caught up by the end of the year so we will have a chance at keeping up in 2025!
Thank you for the seat demonstration at 1:25 - I wouldn't have known if there was proper seating at this waterfall without it. Looks like there is!
@collinmorrison7417 There is if hike alone:) Actually, lots of good boulders and other spots to take a rest as well.
