Brendan's Mr Bug impressions

An Excerpt from my 2nd video of myself doing voice impressions and cosplay of Fleischer Studios' Mr. Bug Goes To Town (1942)
That didn’t aged well because Jefferey katzenberg was just hired to be the president of Walt Disney pictures and to heavily edit this movie that would have been an adult only animated movie that would ruin Disney’s reputation. Ironically the editing of the feature led to its demise.
Well unlike most critics, I enjoyed The Black Cauldron. Hoping for a 4K Blu-Ray edition, and hoping for a live action version of its book series The Chronicles of Prydain!
1:47 Ooh! There's a young Andreas Deja!
I Liked They Showed Some Concept Art Of The Horned King In The Segment. They Also Mentioned About John Hurt voicing The Villainous Horned King In The Film.
Who'd have thought that Mr. Ollivander would be the voice of the Horned King?
Love seeing all the concept art in the second segment. The maquettes and the alternate dragon designs
5:39Jonathan Winters was supposed to be in this film?
Yep.
Even though Susan Sheridan ended up voicing Eilonwy, her and Hailey’s voices do sound really similar IMO.
The songs in these Rankin Bass specials were always so good. It's a shame they often cut them for time in modern airings
It's dark how most of the voice cast from this movie are all no longer with us.
Thank you for making this video. This is my favorite Thanksgiving special. I've ordered the DVD with the mcds commercials, so let's hope it's flawless
I have that dvd too. By now you would know that it's not exactly flawless. It is basically intact, all the songs are there, and the commercials. The color is good and the quality of the picture is quite acceptable. The one drawback, at least with my copy, is what could best describe as " micro- skips" - barely perceptible glitches that interrupt a line or a lyric for a fraction if a second. Its bearable but imperfect.
I enjoyed seeing the uncut scenes, but where is the full movie? I was disappointed that the movie wasn't shown in its entirety. 😢
If you want the full movie, the 1998 Golden Books Home Entertainment video cassette release is the way to go. however the prices vary. www.amazon.com/Mouse-Mayflower-Tennessee-Ernie-Ford/dp/0307141985/ref=tmm_other_meta_binding_title_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1623681350&sr=8-1
Also there is a DVD with 1971 McDonald's commercials that is sometimes sold on the official Rankin/Bass' Historian Rick Goldschmidt's Miser Bros Press etsy shop. Although I'm told that every time someone uploads The Mouse on the Mayflower to RUclips both full 50 mins and 44mins, the 1964 Rudolph commercials and Rudolph's alternate end credits, Rick takes the videos down. He is known to do that. Like every other company, he is very protective of the copyrights even though Classic Media (formely Golden Books Home Entertainment) owns the film.

I know the point of the story is character growth, but I couldn’t stand Taron or Gurgi. I thought Eilonwy was the only one with her head on her shoulders lol. Anyway I’m rewatching it on DisneyPlus right now. Love the animation. And honestly, I like a good film where the baddies are bad and the good guys are good. Edit: I didn’t realize it was based on a book series. That makes sense why the characters are a bit flat. Still a good story.
I'm currently reading the Chronicles of Prydain, the book series this film is based on, and just as anyone would predict, the books are FAR more fascinating. So many characters that would have redeemed this movie are completely cut and with this version, it's basically a very hastily rushed plot borrowed from the first book with elements of the second book thrown in regardless of whether or not it makes sense
Presumably the book doesnt have Disney animation though. Just words on a page (little ink symbols consisting of simple angles and curves) I gather. Which puts a very hard limit on any fascination it might engender.
2:12 Richard Rich 2:39 RIP Ted Berman (December 17, 1919 - July 15, 2001).
So I thought that I knew this scenes were missing.
I don't understand. Where is the full corrected video then?

Rick goldschmidt is known for deleting this kind of stuff, he wants us to PAY to see this rare stuff instead of just upload it to youtube.
he didn't delete that here on youtube. I deleted this video a couple of years ago (and reuploaded it in early 2020), after I left his facebook group. (I did the same with the Rankin/Bass Tolkien Retrospective.)
@@voicetalentBrendan ok, but he's still known for doing that stuff, I mean someone else posted the ge commercials for Rudolph and the ge fantasy hour was slightly different than in rick's youtube version, and did not have the weird skip or watermark and guess what, he requested it to be deleted, and it was deleted I think it was terminated too. He actually copyrights that stuff somehow, I don't know the legality but he does. He also makes the stuff in limited quantities and expensive as well, making it harder to get the information. He also gives one star reviews to dvd before they are released, yet he wonders why they never want to work with him. Yes he's written books, talked to Arthur Rankin Jr and other Rankin Bass crew, and did a buttload of research about Rankin/Bass, but by doing this, he's decreasing his credibility. I have a feeling he may be responsible for the deletion of Robatsea's grinch bank bumpers (Even though it's not even Rankin/bass he still put this in one of his dvd-rs and probably copyrighted it too), someone else uploaded it, but hurry up, it could be gone at any minute.
@@ArchiveofAwesomeness1886 Ok. (exhausted sigh) funny you say that. in his facebook group he deleted my review of a fairly recent dvd/bluray set of rankin/bass christmas set he had no involvement in. Universal/Classic Media did a shoddy job on the restorations (as well as inconsistant color timing) he told me "it's best not to talk about it". so for years I never brought it up again, out respect for him.
@@ArchiveofAwesomeness1886 I only have one of his dvds. Rudolph 1964. I find it weird that Dr. Seuss and Chuck Jones" Grinch is on there with Full Service Banks commercals on a rankin/bass' Rick Goldschmidt Miser Bros Press "archive" dvd. and I have a few of his books from christmas.
@@voicetalentBrendan yeah, i know and that isn't rankin bass

I was surprised that the songs was removed and/or edited for unknown reason. I like the full uncut version better.
I love Thanksgiving Day specials!
Hailey Mills sounds so regal, she should have been Eilonwy.
Susan Sheridan was good too.
Eilonwy is a spunky kind of person... Not.
right.
@@voicetalentBrendan i feel like haley mills as Eilonwy would have been interesting
Eilonwy is 110% spunky. That's one of her primary defining character traits.
She is in the books. All the characters had so much potential on paper. Taran is a guy who earns other people respect as a result of his struggle to cope with the lack of high-born origin. Eilonwy is spunky and witty. Sadly the movie required much more length do develop their arcs.
She wasn't as spunky as she was in the book, but she was spunky.
I love the mouse on the mayflower
I never seen this
I love the 80s designs for this film! I hope Disney releases the film in 4K on Blu Ray, including the extended original version!!
They are finally releasing it, through the Disney Movie Club! Sadly there is still no extended cut.
@@JosephDavies I'm really excited for the Blu-ray release 😄
@@DTSsince2016 Me too! I thought I'd reply in case you weren't aware of it since you expressed interest here some time ago. :)
@@JosephDavies Thanks!
@deaththunderstudios1734 your gonna be waiting for a while buddy
You gotta grow a beard and have an eye for gold when doing wizards and dwarves! But keep it up! We need to hear some Goblins, Augwas, and Jack Frosts from u! Btw are you a fan of Paul Frees performances from Rankin Bass? Try Burger Meister, Meister Burger!
Thank you for saving this video because I never even knew about the Mayflower and I consider myself a huge rankin-bass buff!
I am grateful for how Rankin Bass & Jr took such great care and quality with their telling of The Hobbit. It is the very definitive way of getting to the original core of the story: whether it be through their beautiful artistry, incredible voice talents( Gollum will always be my favorite) to the scores of memorable music, this is a classic for all to enjoy! Let us never forget- it all started with a Hobbit!
I didn't like taron much I thought he was self obsorbed and wants to bring everyone down with the way he treats gergee and then olonween
Yeah I forgot what an arrogant little shit he was
@@torytellstales he was also prideful he keeps denying that hes not afraid but he really was.
It's supposed to be a character arc where he learns to be a better person, but it's mangled by the editing and under-developed script. It doesn't help either that this film is made out of a hybrid of the first two books in a five-book series, the entirety of which is about Taran growing up and learning these lessons.
Same! I liked the film as a kid, but I couldn’t stand Taron or Gurgi 😂
@@JosephDaviescharacter arcs are pretty gay tbh

I really enjoyed your Merlin, Robin Hood, your Taran was alright, but your Captain Hook was wonderful! Also thank you for subscribing to my channel. The others were pretty good as well. I will have to upload my own Disney voice impressions video at some point.
After THE BLACK CAULDRON (1985) was a box office disappointment, the Disney Studio manager fired the producer and a few employees for working on THE BLACK CAULDRON (1985), and this animated film changed the Disney Studio policies of not making the same mistakes.
They also fired the director Richard Rich, who went on to make The Swan Princess
"of not making the same mistakes." wtf does that mean? lol
@@kensuke0 Considering the fact that Disney helped kill their 2D film animation department due to the success of 3D animated films, The Black Cauldron was an example that the company heads probably used to state why 2D animation isn't profitable. Despite that I and many loved The Black Cauldron, Disney company heads wanted more money, which lead to weird directions even to this day. Walt Disney introduced 2D animated films and most of them were more close to entertainment for both adults and children, he helped with the production of Song of the South and that was a film that was rather controversial, but Walt Disney had faith in the film project. Goes to show that nowadays that after Walt died, so too did the original intention of the Walt Disney company. It was supposed to bring joy and happiness both to staff and audiences by creating entertainment that would attempt to end depression and spark imagination, but now it seems that the company wishes to kill imagination all for the sake of monetary gain after monetary gain that outdoes itself each time for the wrong reasons, even filming one of their films near a concentration camp in China. "of not making the same mistakes" is company head talk for, "we need to make money than making films not making money". It happens in all companies, it leads to failure after failure of films all for the sake of monetary gain. They are making money, but unfortunately making bad films in the process to this day. Not to shill, but I prefer Zack Snyder's Justice League over the entire MCU and DCCU. I saw something great in it that was missing in recent films, passion and imagination (by the way I love 4 hour films for some reason like Love Exposure and The Forest of Love). The Disney company suck and should be boycotted to teach them a lesson, or to stop this madness and to stop tarnishing a dead man's legacy with horrible greed and to stop killing franchises slowly.
You forgot about that stupid Care Bears movie.
what's the name of the energetic guy jumping up and down? 6:20-7:00
Phil Nibbelink
I think that's Guy vasilovich the layout artist/animator
Too bad Hailey Mills didn’t got the role at the end.
Susan Sheridan was amazing too.
