To add to this, under article 1 that spells out the job description of the legislature, one of the clauses is that the federal legislature is responsible for arming the militia whenever it is called up. Now, why would we need an amendment to the constitution to make sure that the militia was armed when it’s already spelled out in the main body of the constitution that it’s the responsibility of the legislature to armed militia? A militia is different than a standing army. A standing army is composed of soldiers, ready to deploy, with specific combat training. A militia is a group of civilians who are trained in the basics of warfare and armed for homeland defense. The result being US armed forces (army navy air force marines) and US militia groups (national guard coast guard)

My biggest pet peeve with modern americans is they think their interpretation of the constitution is accurate and the founding fathers meant for them to do it this way or that way. NO the founding fathers wrote exactly what they meant and it still stands today. We should have groups that get together and train to stop tyrants both foreign and domestic. When the shit hits the fan we cant rely on police or the military to have our best interests at heart we must be ready to stop any threat from any source.
