I thought giving this lesser known story a spotlight was a great idea. It's got some tense scenes, although in my opinion, the characters could've used more depth and the movie does lack an emotional touch, though.

Jacob I don’t mean to get political but I got to be real and call this out I saw a few films last year and now this film there pushing woke anti male propaganda with the castes dialogue with words like incel lonely man this ridiculous and has gotten way to far but I know certain writers and directors in 2025 can’t make a story with out throwing political bullsh/t in your mace as a man

I wouldn't consider it a good movie but it was fun and at the same time I was expecting more. It’s not the worst for me this year but Ke Huy Quan was enjoyable when he was on screen, great review dude

I actually find this really funny. So in the cast of Love Hurts you get Key Hu Quan as the main star, but you also have Sean Astin in a small role. Which makes me think that maybe one day Jacob Hubbard should review The Goonies in honor of its 40th anniversary because that movie also stars Sean Astin and Key Hu Quan.

Dominion was forgettable... in fact, I forgot about 3 minutes after I watched it😂. This will hopefully be a little more grounded. To me, it has a "Skull Island" vibe, and I'm liking it.

Love monthly movie ranked videos ... Going to watch Companion & The Dammed

As a viewer of Eastern European origin, I found this film almost unbearable and borderline insulting. The Slavic character is portrayed as a tiresome ignorant stereotype-an uneducated, unsophisticated honeybadger of a man who is (of course!) a skilled handyman, always willing to work for pennies and eat out of a trashcan. His childlike honesty, naivety and playful survival skills are seen as "cute", but he is of course entirely undateable, a love story or attraction is out of question with him as soon as the 39-yo burnout comes to her senses the next day. He is depicted almost like a clumsy pet-amusing to watch and easy to manipulate, yet impossible to take seriously, lacking any real agency or meaningful relationships with people, beyond wagging his metaphorical tail. This impression is reinforced by the filmmakers' unwillingness to make any effort to render his background and language remotely authentically. Instead, "Viktor" speaks pure gibberish, supposedly "Russian" yet somehow a Russian interpreter would not do. And when a real Russian character finally appears on scene, he too is reduced to a hysterical slapstick figure-falling to his knees, sweating, shouting, and, naturally, keeping goats at home. Can you imagine an European film depicting an American character in such a stereotypical way? Like a primitive sweaty Wild west character in cowboy hat, who eats beans with a spoon?

I didn't know Robbie, either, but holy moly, his movie is GREAT! Stellar in every respect. The FX is Oscar nominated!

One suggestion I got is that even if you saw a movie in a different month but it got widely released this month, you should still include it on the list, and not as an honorable mention.

Considering there are so few mainstream Hollywood movies with black actresses particularly darker skinned black actresses as the main leads I'm especially excited for this movie not to mention I'm a huge SZA fan I'm glad you liked it and look forward to seeing it myself as everybody is giving it rave reviews

How it going today champ and how your day? So I check out this movie and it was better than I thought? This goes to show that everyone cannot desire to have an robot because of the twisted and sick things a person will do. An exception to the rule is Eli and Patrick, they actually liked each other. Josh on the other hand, his intention was cruel and he was just using her like a bottle cap on a drink where he can toss her aside. Excellent review.

I can't believe they "Abigail"ed it😂... I haven't had a chance to watch this yet, but it seems they used the same marketing technique that was used for Abigail, which was also a pretty strong movie (imo).

This movie is awful. It's not a horror movie. But a horrible movie. I dozed off a few times. I was so disappointed. It wasn't as it was played up.

Im tired of the hate for this movie. Most of it comes from people who finally get to trash Mel Gibson. This movie cant be as bad as Emelia Perez

Even though I saw the latest trailer that spoiled a big plot point, there are still plenty of entertaining surprises along the way. Not as polished or clever as Barbarian, but I had a good time. Great review, man!

Disagree with you on this one Jacob, I thought some of the Performances of the younger two male actors were weak. But other then that I connected with this family drama ghost gimmick. And with the short Time time under 90 minutes I thought it was effective. Definitely not scary but I enjoyed my time with it and both ending twists worked for me.

X Maxxine Pearl I enjoyed all of them very well. But i have to say... Pearl is the one i don't revisit as much as the first and 3rd films and find the weakest and not as fun. Great reviews man

It worries me that as you mentioned Gibson is an amazing director. Passion of the Christ is one of the best films I’ve ever seen. And it worries me that next year we are having the passion of the Christ: Resurrection and it worries me is as bad executed as this film was
