Welcome to my channel! I have created most of these videos to support the university level economics and statistics courses that I teach. My Ph.D. is in economics; I've also earned master's degrees in economics and higher education and a B.S. in mathematics.
In some cases I have created playlists that correspond to actual lectures for a specific course e.g. introductory microeconomics, basic algebra, statistics. These videos generally repeat the classroom lecture. In other cases I have shorter videos that respond to specific questions or topics, and I have some playlists devoted to applying economics to everyday life.

Nike Alphafly Unboxing & Review with Vaporfly
I unbox a pair of Nike Alphafly 3's, then use them to run my first sub-3 hour marathon, but get a blister, then give my reflection/review of both the Alphafly and Vaporfly 3's!

Math for Economics: Partial Derivatives & Optimization (and Long run profit maximization example)
Просмотров 5367 месяцев назад
Sorry! There were more typos than I'd typically want to publish but I corrected right away in real time during the video. I recognize that often students approach Intermediate Micro lacking a background in partial derivatives which are actually what we need for economics. Single variable calculus gets us to the doorstep of understanding and so I build from that point. I do a series of partial d...

ChatGPT v.Bard Generate & Solve a Prisoner's Dilemma Game
Просмотров 349Год назад
I prompted Chat GPT and Bard to generate and solve a Prisoner's Dilemma game. ChatGPT is definitely the better study partner it actually generated a 2x2 matrix version of the game. Though both Bard and GPT did create and correctly solve (without showing all the logic) for the Nash equilibrium. Why is Row's BR is labelled as BRr, whilst Column's BR labelled as BRf?
Looking back at this, I think I should have written BRc indicating that it's Column's best response function whereas BRr is Row's best response function!
Georgist gang rise up. ✊ Gemini 'censored' your message for negative externalities because of the word 'negative'. It also struggles with images in general. You're better off doing an image search on Google Images. AI's like Gemini, ChatGPT, etc. are better at teaching concepts when you explicitly list the relevant keywords, which you're doing, but students learning economics might lack the requisite vocabulary to prompt it correctly. Without the keywords, it gives generic responses without the details you'd like to learn, and sometimes it gives incorrect information.
Puppy created its own entertainment. Very cute ❤
thank you omg! you've made my life sooo much easier.
I have a midterm on Monday focused on the consumer theory I need help with the math

is this for saylor ? or just a general exam ?
Ben, you're creating a lot of great content, no doubt. It takes real courage to do things like that, and I find it both entertaining and meaningful. It's interesting to see this kind of thoughtful creation.
TikTok brought me here. 🤴🏾✊🏾
Besides: avoiding 'elegant variation' you can learn from lawyers. in law words have (or should have) well established meaning and varying a word typically alters meaning of the sentence.
thanks for this summary. very lively to listen to. now its easier to read the paper.
excellent video + explanation !!
This guy is honestly the goat thank you so much. My university professor is like 90, sucks ass, and doesnt record lectures. This is a perfect concise summary. These videos level of clarity in explanations and thought out structure is simply unmatched for the Varian textbook on RUclips. Great job saving students one video at a time.

thanks ben, im watching this as a second year econ major student from India. if you were my professor i probably wouldn't have hated economics.
What a legend !!!!!

I'm a bit confused. By introducing the tarrif fee the real per unit price that the consumer is to pay goes up, which should make the demand to go down, decreasing the quantity purchased at MC=P. In other words, in doesn't matter how the consumer is to pay (through tarrif or per unit price). Or is this relevant because the consumer pays the tarrif first and only then gets to pay the per unit price. But if so, why would it agree to pay the tarrif in the first place, knowing the per unit price in advance?
These are very good questions to raise. You're correct that generally the consumer will pay the tariff (fixed price) first. In fact, what makes two-part pricing work is that this is the only way that consumers are able to buy the good. Examples are where the total price is separated into the tariff and per-unit price portions. These are things like printers (tariff) and ink cartridges (per-unit), bulk stores like Costco & BJ's with a membership (tariff) and individually priced items (per-unit).
your single-handedly carrying my intermediate micro 2 grade atm. watching all these a week before the exam, thanks bro!

Sound quality vary from video to video but overall it is bad sometimes I can't understand please improve it
I agree & am definitely trying to improve audio in future videos.
Bruh this guy is a better intermicro teacher than my econ professor at UCLA, why did I even pay to go to college🥲
Where can I get these questions to print them? thank you
Unfortunately the best I can recommend is pause the video to take still frames

I always thought that the negative sign on the slope of the MRS just meant that to get more of one good you had to sacrifice some quantity of the other. Amazing explanation
