Using $TICK to trade the QQQ

Watching $TICK can give you an idea what direction the market is going
Great video - I am also using the VWAP and like it - I didnt know Tasty could chart that - good to know! Keep up the good work and I just subscribed
thank you glad you enjoyed the video
After doing CC how do you manage downside risk? ES can gap and you can loose more on the futures position compared to the option premium
What I do is keep selling calls, keep reducing my cost . until it is called away for a profit. after getting assigned a future I have had it called away the next day and I have had to ell calls for two weeks to make it a winning trade
@@rongrace6324 The problem in case of CC is not being called away, it is sweet problem, Main risk is if the underlying goes down rapidly and you cant sell calls at strike of original purchase, "Keep selling call" at what strike? if you lower the strike and things reverse then you get caught..
By having a pairs trade I’m assuming you’re reducing risk but using the comparison line chart as an indicator couldn’t you simply take a position in the NQ for a greater profit ?
you are correct with both comments. less risk and you could just buy one for a greater return

Ron, the audio starting at 30 seconds is not good.
sorry- I am going to have to listen before I post them . thats what i get for trusting a new computer !
4 pips?
I do like this idea, great stuff!
For a futures covered call; if the call is in the money at the call expiration, does the futures contract get called away, and the call premium kept? Just like with an etf covered call.

@@rongrace6324 are you buying 1 dte or 0dte

Ron, I am interested to see your progress with this strategy.
I plan on posting results daily
Hi Ron, with the wheel strategy, or covered calls, you have point value of 50 a point on the es, the point value on the es call you sold is only worth 25 a point delta, its not equal to 50 a point, you still have 25 a point down side risk, am i right on saying that? gary
Are you sure it only $25 a point. I am looking at my broker showing selling the 5135 Call for Monday with a price of 12 points shows a max profit of $600 that $50 a point
thx ron
Hi ron, do you have a trading room? Gary
No I do not. I guess I should look into it

Roll 'til you're right. :)
That’s the plan
Yeah, personally I never let either my desktop computer or laptop get over two years old before replacing. That said, Tom Sosnoff said on-air yesterday that the laptop he's used for TEN YEARS finally broke and he's going to need a new one. The IT folks kept issuing him new computers, but when you're the boss you can do whatever you want, lol. He just liked his Lenovo ThinkPad and kept using it. On the one hand it surprised me since he was the driving force behind the tastytrade platform which is in many ways cutting edge, but on the other hand, Tom's got strong opinions. It's just funny (to me) that such an innovator used an ancient computer.
I do the video on a low dollar laptop. it came with windows 10 out of the box it ran ok, after a large update it slowed down way down. So I removed windows and installed Ubuntu linux, it worked fine but after an update the program I use to record had issue with sound ! So I uninstalled it and now am using Linux Mint. it seems to use more resources about 70% of CPU and Ram. but you get what you pay for !
Have you been watching TastyTrade's reasearch segments on 0 DTE SPX trades? The data they're putting together over there is fantastic. They've been crushing it for many years, but the 0 DTE research is especially good.
Yeah, Tom mentioned on-air yesterday near the closing bell that it would've been "hard to hold" that through all the market's bungee jumping.
Curious why aren't you going for more profit? Your wings being $100 calendar requires a lot more BP. Tasty did research showing 15% profit was a 85% win rate. I ended up doing a Iron Fly selling 4745 with $30 wings.
Currently I have 100% win rate. I just record the opening trade. Most days I will trade it 1-4 times
I'm assuming you're recentering each time. Wings that wide theta must decay quick. Have a great 2024!!
@@wilsonmak You are correct. I recenter. yes theta most of the time is quick, I had one trade that made $100 in 3 minutes.
thx ron
your welcome. this trade has been making bank every day
Thanks for providing the information. how does the risk graph look like for this type of trade?
The closer it stays to the short strikes the better chance it has of making a profit. Today I placed one at market open selling the 50 delta call and put. It made 60 in a few min
That 12/19 trade actually netted a hundred, not "ten". :)
You’re correct
I have very similar results to you. Monday lost -250. I had won once in the morning, got greedy placed another trade in the afternoon and got completely burned. Placing the trade in the afternoon doesn't allow for enough theta to build up and if the price runs away from you then you are stuck with a loser. Tuesday +60, Wednesday +70, Thursday +125, Friday +140. These results are all pre fees. If I add in the fees and the loss from Monday I am up for the week so not bad just learning how this strategy works. Thank you for posting about this initially. Good luck this week!!!!
The new Tasty web interface is looking really nice. Good to see them investing in improving their platform.
Hope you managed the short call side because it blew way past it :O
Yea I adjust or will trade futures
Nice, simple summary of income necessary and the IC strategy.
Safe travels.
I have tried this now 2 mornings in a row. If you get in early and out within the first hour it seems to be consistently profitable. Yesterday I tried to reenter in the afternoon and that was a bad idea. I am still trying to get my head around how to manage the straddle as it moves around, but this morning was a quick $60. Not the best use of capital, but if you can have a consistently profitable win with 0DTE then that is a major win since most strategies I have tried are just a 50/50 shot in regards to 0DTE. Does managing the straddle make it more profitable in your experience?
your correct early in the day is the way to play. so far I never have had to make an adjustment. I was looking at rolling down the short put today when it had moved down around 7 points and showing a $100 loss. it came back up and I closed out for $40 win. if I would have held for 5 more min it would have been $100. But $40 a day keeps me happy
12/13 - straddle strangle $70 ($60 after tasty fees) profit in 20 minutes after open could have stayed in longer since it was sidesways for a little while. So far if you can get in quick then out at a target profit it seems to work. I will keep testing and commenting on videos to let you know results. So far you are the only youtuber talking about this strategy. Sad because 0DTE are truly gambling, but this strategy at least has a decent probability of profit. @@rongrace6324
Nice job! Short & sweet. Personally looking at starting to trade this next Monday. Still planning on backtesting tomorrow. Dance card full today. Hoping the straddle-strangle makes it rain ... in a good way. ;)
Will post in the Discord.
My first target is to match my Social Security, which would effectively double my monthly income. My second target is the salary of my last gig before retiring. My third target is my peak salary earning year, back in the day before IT started offshoring. And my last target is not having to ask how much something costs before I buy it, lol.
I have an idea how much SS your drawing . you should be able to reach that without to much trouble. If your inserted in following my trades I post them in Discord. free to join discord.gg/B5vMas9t
@@rongrace6324Thanks, Ron! I appreciate it. My comment was mostly tongue-in-cheek (I know you're not a financial advisor) but I do appreciate the feedback. I retired a little early, but since I was a software developer most of my career, my earnings were mostly above average, so my Social Security now is above average (based on the numbers I've heard in the media). Not great, but not bad. That said, my first goal is actually to stop thinking about trading, and actually start trading in my tasty IRA. In other words, sh*t or get off the pot, lol. I've been watching tasty and emailing Tom for years, but he really got my attention with his 0/30 straddle-strange-swap. I haven't started trading it yet ... I wanted to backtest it first using Option Omega's backtester. I plan on doing that tomorrow, unless I just decide to take a nap, lol. When I'm done with the backtest, I'll email the results to Tom, Jacob, and the reseach team. I can also pop into your Discord and post there. My dance card this week is pretty empty ... we'll see. :)
@@rongrace6324 Btw, I just tried that Discord link and got an "Invite Invalid" message. Something about the invite being expired, or me not having the persmissions to join.
Disregard that lst message. I tried another way and got that invite to work. Looks like I just joined a Discord Server called "SPX 0 DTE Trades". :)
Pardon the typos below. Tried to edit, but RUclips is throwing an error. Will try later. :)
no worries I am the king of typo !
@@rongrace6324 ... looks like RUclips not only ate my edits but removed my posts ... thinking maybe there's a limit on posting to prevent spammers ... or, RUclips just hates me, lol ... anyways, the spreadsheet is nice, but I was going to recommend TraderSync.
Nice video, but need to work on your mic levels. :)
your correct, I have had one computer that the mic has stopped working when I record. but works other times. and another computer that is a hot mic. I cant win
@@rongrace6324 Yeah, I get it. Technology is great - until it stops working, lol. Btw, I just emailed Tom and sent him the links to your two "Straddle-Strangle" videos. Thought he might enjoy them. ;)
Thanks.
thx ron good work
Follow you some days ago, like what you do Can you explain the reason you should use calls or puts in short term calendars?, seems is more less the same but can you choose do puts or calls depending on market is doing? thanks¡¡
Hi thanks for following. When trading a calendar on SPX it makes no difference. If you are trading a calendar on a stock I like to trade puts, that way if the trade goes bad wrong , you can get assigned the stock and then sell calls against it until you recover. SPX does not have stock it is all cash.
I close them when I make 25-30 profit.
Hi Ron, Congrats for your channel! Im studyin how operate this calendars on tasty... Can you tell if this doublew calendar is 0 loss?
Look forward to seeing your adjustment strategies, sir. Thanx for all the great content.
Good call, sir. I do some over night Butterfly spreads to capture EM premium in low IV days. This is a nice strategy to add to my collection.
thx for your work
