Thanks for the comment. Sekiro is built around parry - but has to be all done solo, which is where I think the difficulty is. But I love the parry.

great question. the short answer is no. Carian retaliation or Golden Parry offer differences for parry (i.e golden parry allows parry from further away, carian does spells as well). the parry frames alter slightly to give a slider longer parry window, but at the expense of fp usage, the parry buckler (or the general parry ash of war) has no fp cost. personally I dont use carian or golden parry and just either the buckler or spiralhorn shield.. hope that helps and thanks for the feedback.

@@pro_moriarty Been recording some Elden Ring videos (still doing my first playthrough 😅), doing no hit runs on some bosses. As you said, I don't think people appreciate the number of attempts it takes to get to know every boss move, when people do these kinds of runs.

@@pro_moriarty Only a few of them, not all. I stupidly used the Elder Dragon Greyoll exploit, so I could get some levels to use specific weapons, and because that made me over levelled (RL180 at present), I've been punishing myself by leaving somber weapons at +3 and smithing weapons at +8, and if the boss is easy enough, I have to no hit it. But it's been a fun time!

Thank you for the comment, and awesome that you're attempting this. If I could offer a suggestion, it would be beat the game regularly (if you havent already) first. There are some brutal brutal bosses which at normal level pose a challenge, but at rune level 1 can be just demoralising. My own run has stalled at Malenia & Fire Giant. There are some good builds out there for RL1, so do some research. The parry method I employ later is perhaps one of the hardest. Best of luck to you.

@@pro_moriarty yes is doable. the parrying window is maybe a bit too short, not comparing with parring daggers or bucklers or round shields or your own fist. Actually the curved swords ain't that bad to parry... whatever "doable" its all what you want to known.

@@pro_moriarty the double swords kit is overvalued imho. I mean even with gold and silver tracers, you are not so cool like Ciaran at the end of the day.

The action isn't hard, its the timings that put most people off, especially as most enemies have different timings. Plus what you're parrying with also impacts timings. Like anything its a learned game skill , definitely not an elite thing. Sekiro is actually my favourite soulsborne game.

This was a "could it be done?" test. I embraced the skill in subsequent games and continue in ER. High risk but oh so the reward is worth it

I'm surprised. Parrying in DS1 is a breeze compared to DS2, DS3 and ER.

@@PersonGuy968 thanks for the comment. Sure with a shield, I just wanted to see viability of katana. The parry mechanism seems pretty consistent across DS. DS2 only has the awkward riposte system.

@@pro_moriarty DS2 riposte system is actually ok. The normal riposte looks dope as heck, and you can even pull off the special riposte in certain cases and deal more damage.

@@PersonGuy968 Yeah - I had an issue with Ds2 riposte. Every other game you parry, riposte is pretty instant AND you're invulnerable during the animations. DS2 you parry, you wait an eternity for enemy to fall down...THEN you can riposte - during which I'm sure most of it, you're vulnerable. BUT to agree with you, the riposte animations were pretty sick.
