Ibanez EHB1000S into the Ampero One, then on into Garage Band. Written in 1969 as an anti Vietnam war song, War was originally recorded by The Temptations, however it was deemed too political for their largely conservative fans. It was then rerecorded by Edwin Star in 1970, which is the version we have here. Incidentally, the song was also covered by Frankie Goes To Hollywood in (I think) 1984.

Up for a bit more classic rock and roll and some Little Richard? Yep, back playing the 12-bar, covering the bass of a song was recorded in 1957! Dingwall Combustion into GarageBand, via the Ampero One. Foam under strings at bridge to muffle the tone a little.

Covering John Taylor’s bass line in Duran Duran’s 1995 cover of The Temptation’s 1970 song, Ball of Confusion. I found this hard. The drum pattern really kept throwing me off…. Like the bass tone on this track. Controversial opinion, but I think Thank You is a really under appreciated album and have always liked it. There used to be a sense of fun with tracks they obviously live. #duranduran
I agree, there are a number of great tracks on Thank You. There are a couple of duff ones, for example, I really don't like Lay Lady Lay, it sounds a cheesy as hell. TBH, I don't like the original either! However, there are some great tracks, White Lines & I Wanna Take You Higher, being two of them!

Your video is so much better than mine! I was at the back too and just filmed the back of a lot of peoples heads! But it was worth it. I took my 20 year old daughter and she's now a convert! A lot of their songs are in all kinds of adverts on social media so she knew some of the songs like Ordinary Day, Girls on Film and Rio!
