I'm not even a big Dream Theater fan and I'm elated at the news!!

BS...this was all about DT brand & Portnoy needed some income...no one really cared for past few DT albums. Get original drummer back and start playing bigger venues.

It’s people at the head of money not really likening music. They look at more as a power/money grab. I came up in the 90’s with a great movement in Indy labels. Punk and hip hop. And just music. You can tell a good Indy label because there artist are all good at music. No one hit wonder types. Goes all over music. Epitaph, lookout, ANTI, Initial, Dog house, def jam, blood shot, blue note and on and on. There are plenty more. This is just what I could think of.🤷🏽‍♂️🧠

I like Portnoy, but I also like Mike Mangini more. He seemed so happy to be with DT, and the dude put his absolute maximum effort into playing with them. I kind of dislike that they brought back Portnoy. He gave up on the best band he’s ever been with and they should have stayed with Mangini.

It's really not about who is the best drummer technically.. some band members really are irreplaceable. For eg. The Metallica classic line-up would always be Jason Newsted in the bass. The classic Kamelot would always be Roy Khan as their vocalist. Dream Theater without Mike Portnoy somehow doesn't feel fully Dream Theater. Like I said, it's not about who is better.

Can I just ask how the new album comes close to the enemy inside or the alien?.... I'm not seeing it..
