My family can speak brought to get by and my mom is fluent. I think in tourist dense areas they usually can help with english the the more country you go, might be less english speakers. Just learn the main phrases that you need and you should be ok.

So sorry I just saw this comment. Did you end up going? They did make everyone swim with the colored vest and if you can't swim you can blow it up to help you float at the top and if you can, keep it deflated. The colored vests also help the crew determine who are the people from their boats when they are getting ready to leave.

It all depends what time of year you go. I went in April so it was still green but once it starts to be summer in end of may ish June alot of hikes get a little more dry and brown till hurricane season comes and the rain is back.
