Total waste of time
Well done! The musical accompaniment was boringly repetitive and was unnecessary
Thanks for checking out the video @richardmarshall159! Your feedback is noted. Will make more tweaks in the next videos
Thank you for your honesty, and detailed time stamps describing how FSD performed on this *short* 5 mile drive. FSD cannot even handle a short trip to 7-Eleven, without multiple problems. And Elon talks about a Robotaxi coming in 1 month? What a joke . At 7:57 FSD pulls directly into the 7-Eleven parking lot, and then *cannot* *park* *the* *car* in the available spots. Human had to disengage.
Maybe a bit self righteous Derek
@@richardmarshall159 Elon has made huge promises about FSD, over the last *eight* *years* . When I point out how disappointing that FSD is, in July of 2024, how is that self-righteous? Maybe you should look up the definition of that expression ?
Thanks @DerekDavis213 for checking out the video and sharing your thoughts. Will definitely retest this in the next versions to track progress!
Wow, it goes around a van on a residential street. Now, test FSD in a busy big city during morning or afternoon rush hour. Then what happens ?
Hi @DerekDavis213, thanks for checking out the video and the feedback! Testing it in Manhattan is on my list, which is in the planning stages. Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island are also included!
5:45 the oncoming car was only recognized very late. Dangerous
@@MrYOTOSTAR I hear you. It’s one of those “keep the supervised in FSD supervised” moments for me. Thanks for checking out the video!
plenty of space, it would have stopped with enough . thanks for sharing
@@jonbanzon Thanks for checking out the video! i hear you and I also have that thought. It was a 50-50 for me. What made me decide to be on the less risky side was that I was not sure how far the vehicle is going to back up. If FSD stopped successfully but the other vehicle continued backing up more than FSD expected, the risk of collision would be more likely
At 1:10 if the Tesla was too close to the car in front, FSD would have *failed* *immediately* . Because after 4 years in development, when FSD is active it cannot go in reverse. Unbelievable, but true .
@@DerekDavis213 thanks for checking out the video and sharing your thoughts! You got me curious there of an active FSD that it cant go in reverse. I should find a way to test this scenario
As opposed to what, running him down?
@@NielsSHansen thanks for checking out the video! for this case, I dont think if the car continued moving forward that the pedestrian will get hit since he was actually checking traffic at the time the car slowed down and only crossed when it was clear. That said I’d like to know your take on this. If you’re driving, will you stop in this case? And if yes, what’s your take on the risk of getting rear-ended by the car behind you?
In California, every corner like that is a crosswalk. Doesn't matter if it's marked or not. Pedestrians still have the right of way.
That is just another way California is wrong
@@shagywagy7004 thanks for sharing this point of information! I didn’t know Cali had a specific rule on this. I should remember this when driving there. Thanks for checking out the vid!
@@grezz975 thanks for sharing your take and also for checking out the video!
Why is this supposed to be exciting and/or amazing?
Thanks for checking out the vid @nboccanfuso! Not really meant to be exciting/ amazing but more on being balanced in this case. From a defensive driving standpoint, I've been thinking whether or not this presents some risks or maybe it doesn't. If stopping on a non-cross walk area, what is the chance of getting rear ended or, if moving forward, what happens if pedestrian insists on crossing? These are some things that I started thinking about as I continue to use FSD. What's your take on this?
@@FSD_Observerdefinitely interesting When I’m driving I don’t stop for pedestrians who aren’t waiting at crosswalks, but I of course stop if they walk in front of me. So it’s definitely a case-by-case snap decision
That would be my take too. I won't be waiting for pedestrians who aren't on crosswalks. That being said, I'd be ready to stop if they suddenly do too. @iSchmidty13 , Thanks for checking the video and sharing your thoughts!
Scarily awesome
Thanks for checking out the vid @CaptnShrek!
It froze because it was waiting for the stop sign to turn into a green Go sign 😂
Maybe lol Thanks for checking out the vid @guero7543!
Plenty of parking spots, but FSD cannot park the car. After 4 years in beta, and tons of AI and Neural Nets. And 8 cameras.
Thanks for checking out the vid @DerekDavis213! I was surprised on this one as I thought it would stop like the prev version I tested (v12.3.2.1). Will def continue to test this case on the next version
Cool
Nice
Thanks for checking out the video @fuzzy.fuz.!
Thanks for checking out the video @euis-qu5el!
FSD cannot even handle a very easy *6* *minute* drive, without *disengagement* . Of course the fan bois will say: 12.5 will be a game-changer! We've heard that before .
Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts @DerekDavis213!
Can't wait to see your observations on 12.4.3. It will probably make many mistakes at this release. But should be awesome after a few subversion updates, when Tesla incorporates data from the cars driving this revision. All love no-wheel-nag of course, I hope it is not too strict.
How come 12.3.6 wasn't awesome, after lots of Neural Nets updates? In this video, FSD fails on a 2 mile drive. what a joke
@@DerekDavis213 12.3.6 is awesome. 12.4.6 will just be much better.
@@Kaipiso Keep dreaming, keep boosting Tesla Corp. The real world does not share your enthusiasm for FSD.
Thanks for checking out the video @Kaipiso! Looking forward to the next version and see what's different. Hopefully wide-release happens soon!
Thanks for checking out the video @DerekDavis213! I hear you, I'll definitely test the new version once it's out and see what happens on that same 2 mile drive
Didn't even have to watch the video to tell you testlas are trash 😂
I hear you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts @cameron3991 and also for dropping by on this vid!
A lot of money for a self driving car that can't drive.
Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your thoughts @petemcintire4339! Yes, it does have limitations and not for everyone. Will continue to test track progress!
Thanks for the upload. It is a common theme that the car has a hard time at start and destination parking lots. But driving on the streets is quite fine. I think there was like one subversion (12.3?) that was awesome with often pulling safely to the side and finishing the drive. This needs improvement for sure. It might require much larger AI model though, as parking lots can be very random, complicated or misleading.
Thanks @Kaipiso for checking out this vid. Yes that's pretty much the theme. I' just finished short drive edition tests and it's the common denominator among them. Street drives are quite fine. The subversion that I tested that was awesome with often pulling safely to the side and finishing the drive was FSD 12.3.2.1. I had a Dunkin Test on this and at the end it parked itself on a vacant space, although the parking spot didn't have lines though
3:52 - FSD was not stopping for the pedestrian, but keeping the intersection clear. It was waiting for the car in front to leave more room.
oh snap, that might be it. Thanks for point this out @Kaipiso!
I wonder why speed limit dropped at 7:40. My guess would be that there used to be some kind of road constructions at this spot and slower speed limit was there for some time.
It would also mean that speed is not always based on vision data only. And that is a bit concerning, but could be connected to lack of long term memory managed by the FSD alone, not by the navigation module or data.
Thanks for checking out the vid @Kaipiso. Yea, it seems like it's a problem that's been there for a while. Even last year i noticed it w/ FSD 11. There were no recent road constructions and presence of slower speed limit signs. That said, another person commented in one of my vid w/ the same issue and was able to reproduce what I encountered but still unsure why
Yes, that's what I was thinking too. it's not always based on vision data only and it could be for the reasoning you pointed out
@@FSD_Observer I think you should keep disengaging there and voice reporting, as it seems as a local issue. And pray that someone will notice that one day. You can also try to disable FSD before that spot. And drive manually with a proper speed. In theory, FSD runs in shadow mode in the background and compares its prediction to your drive style. If a huge difference is found, it might be reported or somehow corrected.
@@Kaipiso yes, I should do the voice reporting. That's the one thing i haven't done yet. Will do that for next time. Thanks!
Nice video, commentary, timestamps. Just not sure about the music. Good work, keep it up! Thanks for posting.
I'll try to find some music that could go better for these types of videos. That said, thanks for checking out video!
Great timestamps and description! Good cool commentary to the point without too many emotions.
Much appreciated, thanks @Kaipiso for checking out the video!
No chance would I be comfortable using FSD and having to pay $99 a month on top or $8000 at time of purchase makes it and even easier decision. That off ramp nonsense is scary.
Hi @philliesfan1flyeaglesfly330, thanks for sharing your perspective on FSD. On another note, thanks for checking out the video! I’ll definitely retest this for the next version to track progress
Thanks for the testing! FSD going into the off-ramp during the highway lane change was very surprising. Scary
Thanks for checking out the video @tomrobinson8290! Yea, that was unexpected for me, I’m still trying to figure out at what scenario it gets triggered because not all off ramp exits are like this. That said this was a new test for me, so maybe that? Looking forward to test this on the next version
*FOUR* problems or interventions on a short simple drive. This is Sesame Street, for a human. FSD software continues to disappoint .
Thanks for checking out the video @DerekDavis213! I’m learning a lot in these shorter drives. I def need to test this again for the next version
A simple 5 mile drive, and FSD just can't make it without *human* *intervention* . Disappointing. Full autonomy is years away.
I hear you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this @DerekDavis213 and also for checking out the video! Will continue to test. I just finished a short drive edition testing. They were interesting. More to come!
Maybe fsd only pulls out of large parking spaces where you are backed in and tons of room in front. I can say that fsd doesn't work on most parking spaces I have tried
Thanks for the insight @user-ke2up6mr8t! Now that you mentioned it, I do remember now that the times it worked was when it had ample space. I’ll keep testing this. Also, thanks for checking out the video!
@@FSD_Observer yes and also maybe it only pulls forward. Tesla park assist only backs into parking spaces which is something I never do myself
Can you do more tests around westbury and Uniondale areas!
Yes, in-progress! Thanks for checkout the video @tomrobinson8290!
i like FSD
@Paul-3666 that's awesome! Thanks for checking out the video!
french workshop?
Thanks for checking out the video @websitemartian! Yes, this is a clip from The French Workshop Test. I name my tests based on the FSD nav’s destination. This is the actual link to the full test video: ruclips.net/video/d6iPcIK75Ms/видео.htmlfeature=shared
What was I supposed to see? It appears to have done a normal right turn like FSD successfully does a million times.
Thanks for checking out the video @UberDude! I agree that this can be redundant, but I’m breaking down my long form tests to bite size shorts so I can compile it into a playlist per version and another one for disengages per version. That way whoever wants to track the progress can see the successful and unsuccessful cases so they can make their own conclusion about the FSD tech and whether or not it makes sense for their use case
😂😂😂 good luck bro hope you dont get hurt or end up laible for hurting someone else. Hey, at least its good at being a waste of money🎉
Haha thanks, I actually didn't buy this. I'm only subscribed for FSD month to month. Thanks for checking out the video @jimmjimms!
Imagine buying this but still keeping ypur hand on the wheel because you truly dont trust it
couldnt pay me to trust this thing with my life
I hear you. It's part of the FSD needs to have hands on wheel while it's engaged or else it'll keep on nagging. That said I'm looking forward for it to not require it and remove the nagging. Thanks for checking out the video @tylerlanceGSD!
Yea, this is totally understandable, that's why I always keep my hands on the wheel to easily intervene if necessary. Thanks for checking out the video @@jimmjimms!
8 human interventions, on an easy *30* *mile* *drive* . FSD continues to disappoint.
Hi DerekDavis213, I hear you, conducting more tests to track progress. Also, looking forward to the next version and thanks for checking out the video!
WTF …..???
Thanks for checking out the video @jamesworsfold5553! May I ask why for this comment?
I only see junk
Food?
Hi @project-hobby! Key Food is a grocery shop that FSD navigated to. I name the test based on the destination, hence the name Key Food Test. Thanks for checking out the video!
Lol.... what was that?
Thanks for checking out the video @holdingboost2024! There was a merging pickup truck on my right that suddenly switched to the lane right next to me (visible on the top section). I should put arrows next time on these to easily make it visible
Thank you for your honest reviews of FSD. omg *so* *many* problems and disengagements during this short simple drive to Jollibee, which is the best chicken place by far! Level 5 Full Autonomy is years away. Elmo makes a lot of big promises, but they always fall flat .
Thanks for checking out the video @DerekDavis213! I’m noticing that if the streets have special rules for turning that’s where FSD is having a challenging time. It will take some time for level 5. That said, I’ll keep testing as new versions are released to monitor progress. Also, Jollibee chicken for the win lol
@@FSD_Observer Many people don't realize that FSD, with 8 cameras, cannot look at a scene then think/analyze/reason, like a human driver can do. A human can drive in any strange unexpected situation on the road, and ADAPT. FSD cannot do that, in the slightest.
Speed camera?
Thanks for checking out the video @swimmerjosiah, i don’t think there is a speed camera on this part of the highway, there’re just signs that says a speed limit but def not in the 40s
So no one is in the right lane yet you’re sat in the middle…
Thanks for checking out the video @iambenmitchell! I’m not sure I’m following. There is a car to my right and FSD chose to be in the mid lane usually when traffic is not as heavy and the surrounding traffic is not a lot faster than FSD’s speed
@@FSD_Observer Yeah it seems in the US you just pass on any side and people chose any lane. In most countries it’s illegal to pass on the passenger side and when you have overtaken you then go back to the furthest lane
@@iambenmitchell oh I see, thanks for that insight. Here in the US, on a three lane highway, the left lane is for passing, middle lane for cruising, and right lane for slower vehicles. Sometimes things gets mixed up when a slow car is on the left lane and other cars use the right lane as a result
Your car is horrible. Your personality is worse. Give up.
Because it’s shit.
Your sentiment is noted; and on another note, thanks for checking out the video @conundrum51!
Yeah. There is a zone that is 55, there is a lane merge, and NO signs around, the GPS (Google and Waze) says the road is still 55 buy FSD Slams the breaks to 45 and there is always someone behind me. I have to disengage at that point every day on the way home from work.
Thanks for checking out the video and sharing this insight @mosomos89! Much appreciated
He didn't even turn the wheel...
Thanks for checking out the video @benjaminroberts7161!
Is there a minimum 40mph sign on the road?
Hi @ricklehe, thanks for checking out the video. There is no 40mph sign on the road prior to the speed limit change
He fast-forwarded the video at 0:28 so we don't notice that FSD took a *long* *time* to make that simple Left turn. 1:17 *human* *intervention* . FSD is hesitating on an easy Right turn. 2:08 *human* *intervention* . FSD stops at an intersection for no reason. 3:40 A super-slow Right turn. Not like a human .
Hi @DerekDavis213, thanks for checking out the video, 0:28 to me was reasonable given both sides had cars passing in front of the car, that said, it’s something that can’t be proven because of the fast forward, I’ll make sure not to fast-forward in these cases to completely capture the whole sequence. Also for the other timestamps you mentioned, those are accurate alternative descriptions
Ok.
Thanks for checking out the video @vercaFN!
Hey @FSD_Observer your the reason we have super intelligent cars and you make sure they're safe thank you so much ❤
@@2amVerycaFN thank you for the encouraging words. More tests to come!
On certain highways such as that, FSD 11 is still used. You can tell because 12 doesn’t currently use text descriptions when performing a lane change. Also, the blue path planner is quite a bit shorter on 12. It’s kind of hard to tell these subtle differences but I imagine once V12 is used everywhere, these things will happen less. Hopefully.
Thanks for checking out the video and sharing this info @AragonTMP! This explains a lot. I’m hopeful as well that v12 will be used everywhere in the next update. Time will tell. Hope it arrives soon
Ohhh that explains so much, I loved having text on what the car was doing but sometimes it wouldn’t do it and I’m just like why tf did you get over?
