Is there a way to turn on the touchscreen in a 2023 CX-5 ? It's the only year where they completely turned off the touch screen with no way to turn it on for Android Auto or CarPlay. I hate that dumb knob in AA. It's clunky and not intuitive. I find myself looking more at the screen trying to figure out where the cursor is highlighted. Android Auto was designed for a touchscreen. It's like using the arrow keys on a keyboard without a mouse in Windows.
@@roberth3793 unfortunately they did away with the touchscreen option in the newer years.
Thanks for your Video! But I thought there was a Firmware Update that needs to be done First before doing all this??
@@johncarter591 short coming soon for this. Thank you for watching!
Great video. Thanks! For CarPlay do I need to do any update? If so how?
@@bobmob1440 yes if your cmu is not up-to-date you will have to update it. I will be posting a short on how to access the back screen to perform cmu updates hopefully tomorrow. Thank you for watching!
@@mazdatech_matt7338 look forward to watching! thanks
Thanks for the detailed info. Some other videos showed the Gear console removal method which is a pain. Your method is sooo easy. Also removed the touch screen. Putting the head-unit back was a bit difficult due to design. Overall very happy. Thanks for this great video.
Obviously, the touch screen functions won't operational now, but all functions are accessible via the COMMAND knob on the center console.
@@TimDyb Correct. Most tend to use the command switch over the touch screen.
@@mazdatech_matt7338 but you won't be able to update the firmware if you remove the touch functions. Firmware update requires typing numbers to proceed.
Could this be the same reason that calls magically mute on a 19 CX-5 while using car play? Is there a part number for this kit?
@@Eyball1972 it sure is. You'll want to review the portion of removing the ribbon only to correct your issue. Approximately 10 min into the video. Thank you!
@@mazdatech_matt7338 thanks!! I’m hoping my wife is good with that and I don’t need to spend the $200 on the replacement kit. She is getting used to the dial.
@@Eyball1972 apologies I replied to the wrong video. The repair part # for this one is K1Y3-61-1JZA. If you check out my other video there is a same repair but minus the screen replacement. It just disables the touch screen function. Thank you again!
I went through the top, absolutely no problem at all
I’ve done this same ribbon disconnection months ago and am installing CarPlay tomorrow props bro. Not many know this .

Is there a gasket for the bottom connection? I only saw you put one on at the top.

I just replaced my cat for 2011 Nissan rogue and I am still having issues with p0420 check engine lights? I took it to the dealer and they said my cat is bad. Any suggestion?
@@hassanabdullah9865 could possibly have purchased a bad cat. Was it OEM?
No it’s not a OEM I got it from Amazon
Well, here we go again. A good video spoiled by the dumb ass aggravating music. Sorry won't watch it😶
Hello guys, can You share the link to the repair kit?
Unfortunately I do not have a link at this time. I can provide you with the part #. Where it can be purchased from your local dealer. The part # is K1Y3-61-1JZA.
Would you mind to let me know the model and brand of the red tool you used to tighten the screws?
Milwaukee electric 1/4 ratchet. Thank you for watching!
shut off music-it interferes with hearing him talk-annoying
Can I ask where you got that wobble extension you used underneath?
Normal extension with a Matco swivel socket. They can be a bit expensive however harbor freight offers a pocket friendly option made by Icon tools
Very helpful. Thanks so much.
This is so helpful. I received a 2019 CX5 Signature Trim that has the ghost touch problem. I am looking forward to tackling this replacement without having to spend the $3000 the dealer wants to replace it.
Thank you! Glad the video helped you!!
Where do you order the part ?
Hello, we have problems with this engine can You help us?
Just got the code not too long ago. Tried the stuff you put in gas tank…Didn’t work. Almost was going to ask for a quote from a mechanic, but this looks simple for me if all the bolt break loose. Thanks!!
where and how much did you buy that catalytic converter? Got my 2013 Nissan Rogue and def having issues.
This one was purchased from eBay.
@@mazdatech_matt7338 oh damn , was it legit? How can you tell if it’s legit?
No music next time or lower music volume, way too high, also, your not showing where the bolts are located, how to remove them, many things missing but I appreciate you're showing the in and out, just be more in depth in future guides ( I also would like to ask for a injectors replacement guide if you can)
@elnewbie2611 thank you for the input. The basis of this video was a quick in and out not to in depth. Last min decision to do the video. I'll keep the input on future videos. I'll keep you posted on the injectors. Thank you again!
Hi, Hello, super video. Where can I buy the assembly?
We sell the repair screen at Stokes Mazda 843 767 1600. We can ship th part it can also be acquired at any Mazda dealership part # K1Y3-61-1JZA
50 pins?
I'd have to count them
Thanks for the vid. Before i do anything i wanna ask this. My screens seems to be touching towards the bottom/very right of the screen. As if someones is scrolling the knob. Would this issue be the same as urs? Please reply. Thanks
Yes. The problem is from the screen delaminating. Buy a replacement one for 200$ and watch the videos how to install. Very easy
What are your thoughts on just cleaning it with an overnight soak first to see if the check engine light goes away?
Soaking the converter? I wouldn't recommend that.
@@mazdatech_matt7338 why so? Only asking cause Scotty Kilmer recommended it before buying a new replacement, before soaking it he said to try a gallon of lacquer thinner in a half tank of gas and drive 150 miles to clean it first.
@@djhudgins8412 I wouldn't recommend it because it's nothing I've ever done or heard of.
@@mazdatech_matt7338 I think I'll try the laquer thinner, had a p0420 pop up on me. I'll let you know how it goes brother.

Video was very helpful for walking through the repair steps. Took me about 30-45 min taking my time. Everything worked when I put it back together with the new screen. Now just hoping the ghost touches are gone forever. Mine were pretty sporadic so will need several weeks before I'm convinced... Thanks for posting!!
Glad the video helped! So far I have not seen any issues with the new updated screen.
Pick up the part today and installed, your video was great, showing everything I needed to do.
Thank you!! Glad it helped!!
Thanks for the video. I have the ghost issue and ordered just the digitizer today for $40. Do you think replacing only the digitizer would work or do I need to buy this kit instead?
Digitizer. Another option is to just disconnect the ribbon and leave it off. It will just stop any further use of the touch screen however the command switch will still work fine.
Do you have a part number for the replacement screen?
My apologies for the long wait for a response but the part number for the cx-5 is K1Y3-61-1JZA
Is the replacement screen also susceptible to ghost touch or is the new screen an improved version?
The new screen is an improved version. Thank you for watching!
@@mazdatech_matt7338 Thank you, good to know 👍🏼
At the 1:29-1:52 mark in the video, what are you disconnecting and what is the tool that you are using?
Sorry I didn't catch a better angle on this but the tool being used is a clip pop tool and there are 2 connectors on the bottom of the screen that you will disconnect one being white and one being brown. Thank you for viewing.
Hi there, Your video is extremely helpful. I do a lot of my own repairs. The screen you bought, was this just a glass and plastic encasing? I then saw you re-attach the circuit board. Just confirming what to buy. My screen def has delamination and phantom 👻 movement (cx-5). I just installed a hub to add apple, and android auto, but still need to take care of the bigger issue for sanity. Appreciate any advice or assistance.
Correct the glass( digitizer ) is replaced as well as the rear plastic cover. The part number for this repair is K1Y3-61-1JZA can be sourced through your local dealership. I can also ship it through my dealership feel free to call 8437671600 #3 for parts dept.
@mazdatech_matt You're awesome, thank you so much. I went back and forth on buying a junk yard replacement, but then you still have the delamination or other blemishes (along with not knowing the condition). I was able to get a new screen on ebay. I am sure you will have peeps reaching out. I bought a screen protector on Amazon to keep it as new as possible. Keep posting! Your video has helped me, and I am sure so many will be grateful to know there is a solution to this headache.
@@leslirenee thank you for the feedback! Glad the video was able to help!
Is there a part number to add android auto to this infotainment system? I now want to fix my screen, but if I am going to take it all apart, might as well upgrade.
What would happed if you took at CX-50 touch screen and put it into a CX-5 that has the same size non-touch screen?
Unfortunately due to the cmu that may not work.

Quick question where can i get this replacement part…
I'll have to do more research on this part number being sold over the counter. If all goes well ill provide a part number. At that point you'll have to source it from a local dealership. Thank you for viewing and commenting! Any videos you'd like to see please comment below!!
