Fusion 360 - Print HIGH RES object to Slicer - Filetype does NOT matter!
When printing from Fusion 360 to a slicer of your choice, the default is STL(binary) and people may find that it gives bad prints because "it's STL"
Truth is, it does NOT matter which filetype you select there, only the default values! You need to change these values, and then it does not matter which filetype you select, any will look equally good in the slicer!
Let me show you how!

Fusion 360 - Redefine sketches to offset planes when you have errors after changes not to surfaces

Sometimes you make a change earlier in the timeline, and it directly affects the sketches later down the line. This is unavoidable, but easy to fix in most cases.

      Literately the same as I did. Now the video outline constraining dots in 2D space sketches. I have never done this with 3D sketch activated, so don't know how that would work. I try to sketch as much as possible in 2D , but have also made a video about how to create closed shapes in 3D sketches with points which i advise to check out. If you design a sketch element which should contain many sketch elements, then i highly advise to start off with a 2-point constraint like TOP and LEFT or RIGHT, then make references to these values with TEXT objects to easily see them. Then you simply draw the rest of the sketch-elements from that constrained point, and you only change those to values and since everything is constrained it will move without distorting things. Thanks for watching, and hit that like button and sub for more. :D

    • @Toffypops

      I find it happening again and again as well. To permanently fix this, you'd need a brand new handle, and properly fasten it. To me it seems the handle wither is supposed to have something on the INSIDE hooking into it, or it is just worn down, and jumps out of it's slot on the inside. I am thinking of finding a spare part assembly from a wrecked car and changing the whole ting. Which would require disassembly of the inside of the door as this one has an electric lock.

    All you have to do is use the pla for the interface layers only

    • @Toffypops
      @Toffypops Месяц назад

      depends. sometimes the interface layers alone does not give a perfectly smooth surface. Then you can in addition add a small solid layer before the print continue with petg.. The point with this video is that you always should NOT use flush into infill if you have different types of filament say PETG and PLA, you should never flush into innfill as it will weaken the printed structure.

    I think the "bug" is actually in Autodesk because it puts the holes into a different solids in the stl. Unfortunately, STL does not really support this notion of assemblies except for non standard extensions. So there is no way to know if a solid in the STL denotes a hole or an object that overlays another object. Maybe you can export it as a 3mf or already split in Autodesk. Or you could try to make an assembly in Autodesk and load a step file. Maybe that improves the behaviour.

    • @Toffypops
      @Toffypops 2 месяца назад

      it is not in autodesk since if you slice the stl without splitting it to parts i treats the holes as open spaces when sliced. When you split to parts it happens

    • @astorMorisson
      @astorMorisson 2 месяца назад

      @@Toffypops But this is the problem of STLs. They don't contain information about volumes. They only contain surfaces made of triangles. With that option you tell the program if the STL contains a single volume with holes or multiple bodies without holes. You cannot have both at the same time with an STL.

    • @Toffypops
      @Toffypops Месяц назад

      When you print with Fusion 360, it temporarily converts the print body to another format, in my case STL, and when i print that way, it is perfectly able to understand that there are no fills in the areas. So why the slicer could not be made to interpret this and adjust accordingly I do not understand based on your theory above.

  • @Satanika9
    @Satanika9 2 месяца назад

    so you split to parts, and the holes become parts; if you slice at this point the holes are filled parts, correct? what happens if you right click a part that should be a hole, and then >change type >negative part -- then slice? is there a difference from slicing the whole object not split into parts? note though that the hole(s) will only appear AFTER slicing, not in the prepare view, they should still be there though

    • @Satanika9
      @Satanika9 2 месяца назад

      ok i think i understand better now, so you cannot paint support blockers inside the model after splitting to parts? here are some other suggestions for workarounds -- enable supports on build plate only, and then either -- paint ON where you want the supports on the inner lip to be -- or since it seems your object is hollow at the bottom try tree supports. another solution is split to parts>change hole parts to negative part, then copy paste the hole parts, for these new hole parts change type>support blocker, select these blocker holes again and scale to e.g. 105%. a better description of the bug is probably that it seems impossible to paint supports/support blockers on negative parts, though it may be considered a missing feature, not a bug

    • @Toffypops
      @Toffypops 2 месяца назад

      This is definately a bug. The main problem here is that since these parts are inside..setting supports to baseplate only will not work. It will still make supports. If you use the negative part way, it will not correctly print the walls, top and bottom of the holes. This is a bug since a slicer should ignore open holes all together so people can paint support blockers. I do not want to use % to increase the size of the holes as the magnets may get dragged out of the holes due to them being attracted to the nozzle. If the part is exported using the 3d print feature in fusion 360 it does not generate objects from empty spaces. But it will only print 1 object at a time So basically it is the split-to-parts feature that is bugged. It should ignore open spaces inside the model. The only alternative I found was to make cuts in fusion above and below holes and then select those parts as 100% infill and then import an stl of the holes and select them as negative modifiers...That would leaves walls intact but still not make it possible to paint support blockers. This problem when splitting to parts is so unneccessary it should be fixed. Many thanks for comments and feedback. 😊

    • @Satanika9
      @Satanika9 2 месяца назад

      @@Toffypops well... sorry if this gets complicated :) 1. in the exported file the 'holes' ARE objects/parts, meaning they have their own independent geometry, just inside geometry of another part 1b. possible bug/missing feature would be that the "hole" parts are not set to type "negative part" automatically 2. if you do split to parts, then select a hole and change type for that to negative part, then slice, are you saying that outside the hole there are no walls? i cannot replicate that, or i do not understand. i do not see a difference between a non-split object with holes and a split object with hole parts set to negative parts -- after slicing. 3. i did not suggest to increase the hole size -- the suggestion is to set hole parts as negative parts, then copy/paste them, and these new copies should be set to type "support blocker" - to make sure they block supports they may need to be increased a few% - this does not increase the hole size 4. there is a difference between split to parts and split to objects, all of this is only applicable when using split to parts 5. i do not understand the line "if the part is exported.." 6. if you have a negative part inside another part and have supports on baseplate only, there should be NO supports inside the negative part. are you saying there are?

    • @Toffypops
      @Toffypops 2 месяца назад

      if you export a part to an stl-file and then bring it into orca and split it to parts, each part keep their relative places in the geometry. If you split to objects, everything is places on the buildplate which is not what you would want. I understand the split to part makes objects out of empty spaces, but this does not happen when i use the 3D PRINT feature in Fusion 360, then the object comes out with holes correctly. Although you cannot print several holes at the same time. I tried to set the holes as objects to negative parts, and all i end up with is infill missing the objects without walls going around it. And if you set supports on baseplate only, it will still put supports on objects where they have overhanging walls inside another object. It does not work for open spaces inside the model itself. I actually did not see that you had an "add support blocker" feature. Still learning . That might work as you say if you expand it to "paint" the support areas. Thnx for commenting. :)

    Brilliant! I like it! Being able to see the light takes the guess work out of it. You know it's clear.

      Indeed. There may be residue att he nipple but should not pose a problem. If the filament flow without "curling" on the way out , the nozzle is pretty clean.

    Great job! Kinda dumb that patch doesn't do it. Not very intuitive. Your inner face is backwards (colored gold) and so it won't stitch. Modify > Reverse normal and select that surface to fix it. Otherwise, great video. I've been looking all over for this solution.

      the inner face did not connect first time since i was lofting to the wrong object which was not a solid surface.
