Can't see the inside, huh? Bummer. The listing on Zillow and elsewhere shows it all, and it's just as unique inside as it is outside. The outside looks rough. Not exactly "shabby," but more like put-upon by time. I absolutely adore the architectural design, but it seems like this place has seen better days. Still, I've seen much, much worse, and this place absolutely deserves some TLC for the simple fact that it exists at all. Similar to 20 Wyman Drive up in Winnie and other artsy properties, this place is definitely unique. Edit: I might have been too polite. There's actually a virtual tour of this home online that includes basically all of the interior, and the inside needs about as much work as the outside. "Unique" is an understatement. The state of the inside makes it seem like this was a project that was abandoned half-complete, or one that you'd have to force someone to live in than anything an actual human might want to inhabit. It's a puzzle box from _Hellraiser_ in house form. Yikes.

I live in northern Merrimac valley right on the state line so I do all my shopping in new Hampshire may a small sales tax would help residents would be able to buy a vacation home by lowering taxes
Taxes NEVER get lowered. Keep your broad based taxes out of NH. People moan about the property taxes and yes they are higher than surrounding states but when you look at the actual tax burden per person, NH is much lower than all the New England states.
@@BSinNH Lived in Bow from 1987-2009. I don’t recall even one year that property taxes went down. Upon retirement, the taxes on my house were almost my entire Social Security income. Unfortunately, I had to sell my house and move out of state. NH no longer is a place for average people unless you want to struggle every day just to keep a roof over your head.
@@Daoistify I'm sorry to hear. VT, ME, MA may have lower RE taxes but when you factor in the state income tax, state tax on SS and sales taxes, NH still wins on an individual tax burden. Remember also that as property values go up, the same happens to the RE tax. When we bought a house in 98', our property taxes were probably around $3500-4000. Today, they are about $12K.
Might as well ask $3 million for it while you're at it.
Just ovewr a half and acre, right next to a flood plane for 3.5 million? Maybe a good rental property? The lake doesn't connect with the big lake.

NH has some of the highest property tax in the nation. There was a time decades ago when the average person could afford a seasonal vacation property. Now, it way out of reach by most NH wage earners. Out of staters with high incomes and/or inherited wealth are the buyers of these modest lake houses. Otherwise, they are owned by families who have inherited the property from previous generations. Behind the story why these camps are for sale now most likely has something to do with exorbitant taxes, insurance, utilities and upkeep.

Rattlesnake Island is one of the most prominent and recognizable islands on Lake Winnipesaukee. There are limited lots around the perimeter. The interior of the island boasts 102 acres of preservation land with a hiking trail to the top. Residents are part of an association with mainland parking. It's centrally located on the lake with easy access to multiple marinas and towns. All of these factors make it highly desirable!

Beautiful town with a declining community. Taxes are through the roof due to the constant higher ups wanting pay increases for doing nothing. This area is great but lacks leadership
