Very powerful drummer his rolls and fill ins are over the top.

Nothing against Tonka but I saw them live twice on the Mechanix tour, (My favorite post Michael UFO album.) and no disrespect, he had a heroin problem, O.K.? His playing was generally sloppy. Phil's drinking was getting out of control, Paul left because of these I'm sure and came back and left. I heard Paul straightened out, moved to FLA. and taught guitar. I loved his playing on Mechanix and another thing...Phil could SING and I believe Mechanix was his baby-forget the horns- but Phil sang better on that and they were more Rock-pop but still, as a singer it really did him justice and not just the doper-drinker rock star. Glad Andy found a good place to be a laid back adult with his wife and up and involved with his daughter. Gods blessings to you man.

The best drummers as described by Ray Thomas of the Moody Blues are "Tap Happy." And the other day it was kind of apparent to me that Andy in the Force it era was extremely powerful. I saw them in 75 w/Peyronel and that cemented those songs as live favorites. But Andy is one of those underrated drummers for sure. He stuck with them through the greatest uprising and through the downs and I think he split at the right time. Just sorry he wasn't there live for their Walk on Water reunion. But great guy and great drummer. With them from 69? onward. Mick Bolton was good and their 1st studio LP was too but when Mad Mickey Schenker showed up. Aah. It was the times baby. It was the times. I hope Andy is doing alright now at the edge of 2024.
