Here is Bob and Suzanne Book's AMAZING record setting class A - dragster . This was filmed during the first round of eliminimations in Columbus , OH 2007
Reminiscent to what Tony Schumacher did when he was supposed to have faced Blaine Johnson in round 1 the 1996 US Nationals.
I watched a few videos of Scott K winning some top fuel races and he was always so upbeat- big smile and a great man
Jezebel
Ill never forget watching all this live
As a racer myself, I know the driver was crying all the way down the track.
Respect. 👏👏
Honor and respect.
I hated the fact that NHRA PUT A DAM STEEL CRANE IN THE SHUT DOWN AREA, SCOTT RAN INTO A STEEL CRANE AT 200 PLUS MPH, HE HAD NO CHANCE OF SURVIVAL
That means the NHRA had some part of the blame in his demise then
He never hit the crane it was a short concrete wall he hit.
This Tribute brought tears to my eyes. It's nice to see how caring and supportive people can be towards each other at the worst of times.
RIP Scott, you were an amazing person.
My first NHRA race. Brother was on Doug Herbert top fuel pit crew. Seated 1000 ft mark when Scott blew up. Watching it blow is something I’ll never forget. Everyone is the stands took a deep gasp when we all saw the plume of smoke at the end. I know Doug was conscience till the end doing all he could, but his passing was instant and he left this life and entered the next doing what he had such a passion for. JFR solo pass salute to Scott was so touching for everyone at the track. Drag racing family is so tight. A tightness you’d be hard pressed to find in any other sport.
That is true sportsmanship at it finest.
I was there the day he died.
Robert is a class act RIP in peace scotty
What A Show Of Respect For Scott, Forever In Our Hearts!!
I pretty sure he would have beaten my old '57 Ford I raced back in the mid 60's with that "run", by a decent margin...As big fan of Connie back in those days, I marvel at what he and his family have contributed to the sport over the last 6 decades. If my memory isn't screwing with me, it seems like I saw Connie and Scott face off once at Bandimere's decades ago, that was a thrill...
Well done Robert, great tribute to another classy driver👍🙏❤️
When stands used to be full …good ole days
I can't imagine the feelings Scott's Crew Chief had and will always have. It's not you're fault....
I always said there should be a remote parachute eject.
There is an automatic deployment if there's an accident, such as the FC's body being blown off as in Scott's accident, but I think it was so violent that they got twisted or possibly burned to the point they didn't function.
Or a ejection seat
Respect.....is.very.very.class...
2020 and still gives me goosebumps. Respectful as it can be.
Neato.
Bless the sacred memory.
My 11 year old son and I were both at the finish line that Saturday, I knew the second I saw that ball of fire at the end of the track it was over. Hard to not get a bit emotional watching this.
Just watching that put a huge chill down my spine again. I was there that day and witnessed it, remember it well.
I was a witness to that horrific incident,. Any tribute should be honored...RIP Scott, We miss you!
I was there the day before this with my 16 year daughter, her first time at Raceway Park, when Scott crashed. It happened right in front of us, I was there for his first Pro race at the 1982 Summernationals. We were leaving after the accident as they stopped the racing for the day. The ambulance carrying Scott to the hospital went by us as we were leaving, didn't find out he had passed until we got home and saw it on the news. We watched this on TV the next day. R.I.P. Scott.
He could have went for the lane choice that time but they all knew that he would have raced Scott that round. Robert Hight did the right thing that day by idling down the track. Any driver would have done the same as what Robert did. I watched this race on tv and even Paul Page on tv said that was proper. I respect this being a fan of the sport.
I totally agree with you on that. And I'll tell you that seeing JR Todd drive the DHL funny car makes me think of Scott
I was there for that
I think Scott would've have liked Hight to lay one down there but what a great gesture on his part.
Robert height and Jimmy prock are the best in the sport hands down! But the kallita boys are right there with them!
ive got a lot of good memories at englishtown
his son went to my school, colin. look up riverside military
What an amazing tribute by Robert Hight. I truly hope Scott Kalitta didn’t suffer when he went to heaven in a 300+ mph fireball.
He experienced 200g during that wreck..he didn’t know what happened..for comparison that would be like the people who jumped out of the WTC
True sportsmanship and respect
That's one race he didn't want to win
If anyone could understand what the Kalitta team was going through. It was JFR. Class
Rip scott and rip englishtown!
God that gives me chills to this day. Rest in Eternal Peace, Scott.

To the people that dislike this. Screw you
I was there my daughter got his autograph 1/2 hour before this happen saidess day of our lives
morphman21 i second that how in the world can you dislike an class act by Robert Hight
RIP in peace Scott Kalitta. Funny Car racing would be nothing without you in the NHRA. You will be missed.
Comp. Elim. does it for me! So many different classes and different styles of cars. Here in Australia, ANDRA Comp. Elim. is similar to NHRA's Comp. Elim. and is just as hard fought!
