Fixing broken Roof Felt from inside
Our window is stuck closed and uses shoot bolt rods, it doesnt have the roller that ur manipulating. Only one rod has actived (the top is free) and it locks life the metal housing that holds the gear has cracked. Any more ideas on how to get it open?
Holy sheeet....just ...just....Ho...Leeeeee.....Sheeeeeeeeeeet! 🤣🤣🤣
Legend! This works beautifully, even with just an allen key. I had to slide the allen key in from along the window to get passed the draft excluder and it took many attempts but! window open!
Wothout vacuum? forget it, rubish installation!
Hi Darren, Where did you buy the mechanisms?
@@jellyandme I bought it from my local shop: store.northwesthardware.co.uk/
Amater,very bad!
Is that a spur?
Agreed system will have moisture in the refrigerant, that type is no longer allowed to be sold in France and probably the rest of Europe due to the health risks (freezing, at least he wore gloves) and the release of greenhouse gas. You have to have the system tested and commissioned by a professional and cannot even buy one unless this has been paid for in advance.
Very bad practice to install without vacuuming the lines
Re - replacing the broken mechanism -- they come in various offset sizes eg 20mm, 22m and its often a bit tricky to work out exactly which size you need
Yes, I just took it out and brought it to the shop, luckily the shop is not far away from my house, or you can measure it and put it back until the delivery arrives
Also as a first step, check if the handle is actually connected properly ie if the handle lever is really floppy and easy to move, it could be the square shaft connecting it to the mechanism has slipped out. (found that out the hard way after 30 minutes of stripping down the system to find everyting else was ok).
Thank you, you saved me a lot of work, re-aligned the square and it works perfectly now!
Thats a good technique. I was going to post a video of another way where you have to remove the triangular beading and then drill a 6mm hold at the right place (close to where your method finds the stuck catch), and then use a screwdriver through the hole to get to behind the latch and can usually lever it up (theres usually a stub or rivit head you can lever up) (look at a working window to see approx where that rivit etc is)
Thanks

1. Setting Up the Loop: - Connect the cable to the R connector of the station. - Lay the cable from the back garden to the front garden. - Ensure the cable returns to the L connector of the station, forming a complete loop. - Connect the guide wire from the middle connector of the station to any point on the loop. 2. Mowing the Secondary Area: - Use the app to select the option to mow the secondary area until further notice. - Once the mower starts moving away from the station, press the stop button on the machine. - Carry the mower to the front garden. - Place the mower down and press both the play and middle buttons. - The mower will start mowing the front garden until the battery is dead, then take it back to the station to charge. Note: My front and back garden is separated by a slab path, I buried the cables next to the slab edge), so I have to carry the machine to the front garden and do the job, If your front and back gardens were connected by a small lawn, the mower would be able to mow the entire area on its own without needing to be carried. I hope this long instruction can help you.
Hello Darren I followed your video on RUclips and it was great. We have the same model as yours. We have wired the from garden up but are having trouble getting it to work. Would you mind letting me know how you cut the front lawn and what instructions you have to have, to get it to work. Many thanks in advance. Best regards Rosalind Wodhams
I set my 1200R up 3 years ago and it's well worth the initial effort, now I just watch it do the work !! I did it pretty much the same as you, carrying the loop down the gravelled side of the house to the front and then separating again. My chap is still going strong at 1200hrs, would recommend these to everybody. I will say that where the lawn meets a flush flag, put the boundary wire much closer to the lawn edge, the mower will cut right over the edge in these places, less to tidy with a strimmer. But yes, great video.
Yes, you’re right, it cuts much closer to the edges in my front garden. However, in my back garden, the machine keeps hitting the fence boundary and leaves about a 20 cm edge uncut. I have to use a trimmer to tidy up the edges. It’s a bit annoying, but it still saves me a lot of time, so I have no complaints. I’ve heard that the new model has the ability to cut the grass right to the edges. Maybe I’ll update mine once it wears out.
@@darrenchan6248 Using the trimmer once every few weeks is no bother at all, I'm just the same, it bumps in places, I've to turn the trimmer anyway to trim the edges. I've no intention to upgrade because I'm pretty sure the trimmer will be needed somewhere anyway. I'm sometimes mowing at 10pm or in the dark, the little chap cannot be heard. Wouldn't be without mine, in fact I have 2 more brand new in boxes !!!
Where do you get those joiners!?!
They’re local
This is not as straightforward as it looks. Turning the Alan key in some windows pretty challenging tbf
Omg
Hi how do you adjust the cut height ?
It’s right height for me, I didn’t adjust it. I noticed there is a nut next to the blades, you can do it from there
How do you install the new part? Is it an easy job, is there a video for it? Thanks.
It’s not difficult, there are few screws on the bottom of the lock mechanism, remove them, replace with the new lock mechanism, if the holes are not matching, drill the new small holes first, it will make it easier to screw the metal plate. It’s easier from outside, or do it from inside with a mirror to help you 👌
@@darrenchan6248 thank you.
In some mechanisms, the long arms connect to the main mechanism via a toothed rack link connector, which is ajustable for length, and has a small plate over it to hold it in place
Great video, thank you. Managed to open my window now and will order the replacement part 👍
👍
Excellent content. Thanks. Can you do a video on the 2 stage 'Tilt' and/or 'Swivel' window. Hav emoved into an old flat and the handle is jammed and nowt happens.
TYSM, I would however unfortunately I do not have this type of window in my house 😄
@@darrenchan6248 OK, thank you for your reply.
I am facing the exact same issue however it's only when the heating is turned on. F2 fault appears and disappears causing the burner to turn on and off. But my hot water is working perfectly fine from the taps and the burner runs fine when taps are opened. I have checked and cleaned the flue, the injector, then condensation container. Really banging my head around to what this could be.
Hi Darren, I really liked your nice, quiet, unhurried approach. Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to post this DC05 motor repair. Also, I especially liked hearing your child calling for their mum, and her saying "sorry" at 1:56m. V polite 🙂
🙏😄
You started with one type of fitting (and assembled it incorrectly) then changed to a different type when it came to attaching it to the radiator? Just take this video off, it's not helping anybody.
Are you gas safe registered? Looks like your sump is cracked as well
You got good eyesight 👍
You have 2 doors on different zones, can you enter /exit through either door and have the alarm active or delay entry alarm? Is this done in the programming? My rear door was never wired up as the garden was closed off,, but now i can access my garden via the path so i wish to add the rear door to the panel. Was thinking of running it to zone 1 where the front door is and wiring it in series. as the cable is already now in the box. Wondered what you thoughts are? Kind regards.
This was very helpful to see, thanks 🤝
🙏
Think you need to put some grease on the new mechanism to stop it rusting up,otherwise great job
👍
2024. Mine finally died. Thank YOU Sir!

gas leak on the heat exchanger
Great video and it helped us with our DC58. It now works
Couldnt get seal to come away, couldnt get alan key to turn the full way. Much harder than it looks. Best call in the professionals.
Yes, it looks easy, but it’s quite tricky, first you need to find out which way the pins opened, and the Alan key maybe not long enough to reach the pin, I did it because it’s a too small job for some professional 😀
@@darrenchan6248got the same tools are yours now. Just can’t get it to turn enough. Been trying for half hour.
Will attempt this tomorrow, thanks!
Poor install sorry
Sorry for not up to your standard, how can I make it better please? Thanks
@@darrenchan6248 Conduit on the outside could be done differently to look neater, the cable stripping and termination could be done neater and the trunking you have on the wall inside looks untidy. I personally would of reassessed possible cable routing and done it different. The conduit going into bottom of outside socket should of had a threaded adaptor to fix to the backbox and not just pushed through the a hole drilled in the socket. I will give you that for trying but in future i would try neaten things up a bit and assess the cable routing thoroughly before starting the job.
👍
Have similar problem but my window mechanism is internal inly have pin coming out up and down any ideas?
No ideal what kind of lock mechanism you have, a picture will help, thanks
Any moisture that manages to get between the felt and the tiles, should drain down the felt into the guttering. The felt is overlapped horizontally to stop water coming back into the roof space. Simply covering the hole with new felt will not work.
Yes, you are right, mine was just temporary fixed, thanks
😢 Promo'SM
this is great, unfortunately im assuming to access the strip/locking mechanism you have to go at it from the outside ? Not possible for me.
I did it from inside. Unscrew the locking mechanism with a screw driver quite easily, but the new locking mechanism screw holes are different position, had to use a power drill to do it, be careful, don’t drop the tools on your roof tiles 😂
@@darrenchan6248 ha ok, i just cant see how i can get to it - horizontal style window that once i open means i cant so much as see the strip let alone get a drill/screwdriver to it
We're can I get bottom part
Sorry I don’t understand what you tried to say, can you tell me a bit more? Thanks
My Sears Kenmore 38 bought in 1999 stopped working in the summer of 2023.😂 They do not build quality like that anymore.
how did you get the black seal off to start the process?
Just use a flat screw driver to pick it up and pull it out
How long do you reckon it takes it to cut the lawn out the front of your house too?
I normally leave it for 2-3 hours until the battery is dead, just about the right time for my front garden. The original cable is only 3 meters, I bought another 10 meters cable
Have the same problem but dont have the tools shows in the video, i live in a council house though however due to me vaping alot and not being able to open the window the waiting time might be a pain so do you have any requests on what other tools i could use ?
You can try a L shape allen key, might work or maybe too short to catch the latch, good luck 🤞
:-)
😆😆seriously??? Totally doing wrong mate What about that piece? Is it spare?😄
I just took what I needed, so far so good, no leaks, thanks anyway
My flymo robot mower stopped working straight after the end of the guarantee. Did the straightforward things, battery change and voltage check with multimeter. Website and helpline give a long list of agents but none that I have called (I have called lots) do repairs. So bear in mind you might be replacing it after 3 years. Guess it depends if you think that is good value or not....
Thank you very much for the information. Luckily mine is still working, let’s pray it will last longer 🙏
