Congrats on finishing in the Top 10 👊
@@skiprogers226 thanks 🙏🏻. I really wasn’t sure but luckily managed to hold them off
Love the vid again. Now I gotta do 1.next time! Keep us updated
thank you! I will
Nice rip from the back Ragnar. I was two spots in front of you at the midpoint. I started to fade 3/4’s of the way up the last climb and you shot right past me. You crushed the last kilometer+!!! Impressive on tied legs. Until the next one! Enjoy!
thank you mate, it was a tough one. I was lucky to keep cool head and only ride hard when I actually needed, I was pooped in the end...
"Ketkupolkka" great race 👍 Personally really liked this lumpy route, something for everybody, just wish not sleeping when race starts, still not sure how that happened, first memory of seeing ...2 on screen, always something 😂 For change, it was actually really fun to overtake so many riders after starting around 650ish place. Draft factor was 80% without even thinking, just crazy.
ha haa. indeed, seems we both messed up the start, but because of that we managed to enjoy all the draft. See you on the next one
HansKl here... i saw you coming but was too toast to race you this time 😂
Hello, I saw you too and was super happy to past you. I was knackered as well. Those short climbs are pure hell for me. I rode the mild Madagascar challenge all in one go so I was surprised to be able to finish this one. Hope to see you next week
Hello Ragnar. You ride very fast and what a nice room between Cleaning Machines you make the Video !. I give You much Ride On from my bed. I am a little angry because my smart trainer is out of order since 7 days. Rainer from Germany
@@rainerreiter1070 thank you 🙏🏻. I have home renovations going on at the moment… hope you can get your trainer fixed and back on riding
Good race Ragnar. You did a great job making your way through field towards the front. Nice blast of effort 👍
@@skiprogers226 thank you. It was harder than I first thought. I really wanted to get into top 10 but couldn’t as was overtaken by two guys on the long climb. Did you race? How did you find it?
@ ….yes, I was in the race. I am “Oldmanbiker.” You zipped past me after the first climb. Earlier in the week, we were exchanging pulls, along with two others, mid-way through the Columbia race you conducted. Solid race course, yesterday . The initial climb was a good punch in the gut. Then you had to stay on the gas even going downhill. The last hill ate me up a bit before finishing. I hit some good heart rate and power numbers. I wished at times I could have drafted while regathering my wind, but liked the course. Usually, I do not race much during the winter months, but I have completed a few of late, and am intrigued by them. My HR numbers are not far off outside race efforts. I just have to be careful not to race too much, causing unnecessary fatigue. I appreciate you organizing these races, and the RUclips content. I pointed out to my wife where I was during the early portion of the race. It was good for a laugh. You do well, Ragnar. I am not sure your future plans and how you plan to use Rouvy to bridge over to outdoor riding. Love the passion and your connection to the community. Keep up the good work. 👍
@@skiprogers226 Oh yeah. I remember seeing you on the course. Well done! Thanks for signing up! Me too I haven't race that much doing winter season at all, but as I can organise races, I thought to give it a go. My plan is to do weekly short race that don't hurt too much in case people just want to ride. So 15-25 mins is max I'm planning to organise! For 2025 I have only one plan. To do as many time trials as I can, starting as early in the season as I can. First race should be in Feb. Worth to mention, I just enjoy the buzz and am not worried about my position. It's all bit of fun. Next Rouvy race 13.12.24. should be fun!
Sounds like an excellent plan to me 😁. I feel time trials are an excellent way to build the aerobic engine to prepare you for any type of cycling. Time trials are as much mental, as they are physical. I love that aspect of time trials. In other forms of racing, you spend a lot of your energy watching others, reacting to their moves and actions. In time trials, it is about hitting small objects convincing yourself you can do it, to go harder, and you won’t die doing it. I see you go through those same steps throughout your video commentaries. You have an amazing capacity to push high watts Ragnar. Keep up your training and you will be quite pleased with your results. Good luck with your upcoming training. Curious, I hear time trials, and hill climbs, are contested quite often in the UK. Is that true? We used to have a weekly TT season on Fridays, that faded away about nine years ago. Though I did other races, I always looked forward to testing myself on Fridays during the time trials. Rumor has it they may come back this year, which has me pumped. I live in Pennsylvania in the US. I look forward to joining you on more of these efforts. Let’s giddy up!!!
"Ketkupolkka" Pesky lightweight under 100kg rider, cant compete with "lightweights" That´s my today's excuse anyway 😂 😂😂
Ha haa. Well done mate, this was always going to be tough finish. I was so surprised to catch up with SR-71, Overall this was definitely one of the courses that heavier rider like me can try at least keep up. See you next week
great vid. Just learning more about W/kg etc. Trying to do the math by watching your vid. If you don't mind would you confirm for me you must be about 100kg or 220lbs or do I have that all wrong? thanks!
Hiya, Thank you. yes. I'm just around 100kg heavyweight climber! Did you also take part in the race? What was your position?
@@global_ragnar Hey- no I have only done Rouvy routes, not a single race yet- looking t your vid for inspiration. thanks for the weight thing- :-)
@@BarryJHoffman No worries at all. My attitude to racing is, it's just a bit of fun, I'm not there for the win, but happy when finish somewhere half point. Join me next Friday 6pm UK for a short race and then Sunday before the big rouvy race for a warm up!
@@global_ragnar thanks so much- just watched. I sent you a Rouvy friend request to try to keep up with your races. The Rouvy friend thing is far inferior to Zwift's. I have a few real world friends on Rouvybut cannot even find them on ROuvy. Lmk if you get my request. Hope to see you out there. Look for the 140lb (63.5kg) guy from NY on the smart rollers :-)))
Thank You for Race. Greetings from Germany from your Rouvy Friend Raini. I am on the 5 th Place after photo Finish.

"ketkupolkka" So I did bring Deathpools baby knife to gun fight 😂 TT bike would be handy to not get dropped every smallest downhill section and still doing way too much power 🥵 🍻
Indeed. Thank you for riding it on road bike 😂 see you on Sunday
Just got mine and yes they are super nice!
@@joshuabriones9547 great to hear. Enjoy
I rode it solo a few days before. That ‘hill’ is really a set of steep ramps separated by flatter sections. Seems to go on for ever and impossible to get set into a rhythm. Tough, for sure, and a very sweaty experience for just 15kms!
@@nickdorey940 indeed. I did it couple of days prior as well. My legs definitely weren’t fresh for it and I tried desperately to find rhythm without much success. Luckily there were some who started too hard and I managed to pick up spaces in latter part. Next ride and race on Sunday come along
@ Thanks. I don’t race as a cyclist. I used to be a very serious runner, but when I had to give that up due to injuries, cycling took its place, but I decided not to race again, just to enjoy riding. I train hard to enjoy my riding more, especially in the mountains. ROUVY really is a great training tool. I am pretty brutal with myself at times, as you know!
@@nickdorey940 C'mon, join us this Sunday for a warm up, you don't need to race!

Thanks for the greeting during the race, which I returned. I was "inefra"; you passed me at double my speed about halfway through the race. Bravo!💪
It’s so nice to be given thumbs up👍🏻 during a race. I remember you given me thumbs up 👍🏻 Thank you 🙏🏻 see you on next one. I’m doing a group ride on Wednesday at 6 pm Uk time. Join us!
Thank you! Unfortunately, not many people return the thumbs up, and frankly, I don't understand why. Thanks for the invitation, I'm working this Wednesday. Maybe, I hope the next appointment. Where can I find out when you organize an event? Good life!
@@inesfra That is the case, yes, I think many people are on their limit so it's hard to interact, but it's always nice to communicate with others when you can. no worries at all. I have created punch of warm up rides ahead of Team GRC races, have a look and please sign up!
I assure you I was at the limit too. But if someone says hello to me, I always say hello back. Thanks for the info, hopefully we'll meet again.
How does the shifting on your wattbike work ? You seem to spin out a lot...?
@@roeboeski it’s great. Often I don’t bother to change gear if I do sudden bursts. Otherwise it was 22 gears
Hey Ragnar, finding these vids very useful thanks. Does the RAGNAR1M code add the 30 days on top of the standard 7 days, so gives you 37 days in total? Also, am I understanding correctly you only have to choose the plan type once the trial period is up?
Hi, can you access Zwift, Rouvy etc with the tablet? Does the tablet have an HDMI socket to link to the TV?
Hi, Unfortunately no. The tablet is locked for Wattbike only, I use my iPad for riding. For me it's not a problem as you can put your tablet in front of it and use it as tablet holder. Are you planning to buy one? My personal opinion is, it's great bike I love it. Are you riding online! I organise a race at 6pm UK today on Rouvy. Should take under 30 mins. If you have time, please join me! Will be fun!
Nice climb but the most scenic? Try Port Valldemossa and Port des Canonge, I think you will love both also.
Well done Ragnar 😉i like those races verry much..no drafting is great ! i love it
@@gceelen thank you. 🙏🏻 you teased me to think I could catch you… but NOOO 🫣

Love this Ragnar! You should have handed your camera over so we could have filmed you on the podium - next time (thanks for capturing my podium though!) Do come along and join the Westerley TT's at Hillingdon on Wednesday evenings every 2 weeks May to August. You will go faster as it is warmer and not quite so windy! Hillingdon is a brilliant circuit to time trial on and the traffic is not as bad as on Saturday's!

Thank you 🙏🏻. I wanted to race the GRC race but was working so this had to do. It was a great race tho. The guy who won caught me sleeping but he was good. Maybe next time…
Thanks for joining the race. This was the first day of having a duplicate ride to our earlier Gem City group ride. Our plan is to have 2 rides per ride day M/W/F. The early ride will always be a Group Ride, the later ride could be a race if we can't find a leader for a second group ride. This is also the course we raced on in our Championship bout. I beat my time from that race by 30 seconds.
Thanks for taking the time to make a review. If it was only yourself using the atom x would you still take it over a turbo/bike combo?
@@garrethgrobbler337 hi. In short yes! I think it’s great as it easy to use and is reliable and quiet! @wattbike has just come out with a new bike which might be bit smaller. Worth to check it out.
Nice race today. I knew you would be a challenge with your fresh legs from skipping the rainy TT. I hung with, and tried to help, til the second bump from the end. HR was skyrocketing and I couldn't maintain the pace.
You did really well! I was very surprised I wasn’t going more backwards in the end. The others might have been tired too. This was a good course for heavier rider. We need more or those! See you on the next one!

I joined the challenge a few days ago. I'd love to win a Rouvy jersey !!
@@shivsnorman yes. Me too. I think the new colour combo with purple looks great!
Nice one Ragnar, I was thinking where was all the traffic when I was riding , it seems you had lots of it, or I just had my head down to much.
Thank you Larry. It got quite busy I must say, but luckily every driver was polite and left lots of space, part from couple... What was your time? It's a good course to ride, but yes, get's busy
I went 30:54, aim was to go under 31 min, but I had loads left at the end, pacing could be well improved, didn’t know whether to treat it as a 10 or a 25, kinda treated it like a 25 and should have gone harder and just hung on like a 10.
Did you manage to drop my ghost rider?
I think so, Rouvy needs to make changes so they would always win... :)
Enjoying your vids, the smooth dual carriage ways seem fast. I'm 184cm and almost 100kg though that's incl bike and kit 😉, and we're almost always racing on rough chip. Question, are you using a pacing plan of some sort? Cheers from a 🥝 TTr.
Thank you! The road surface of the course is good for UK 😉 I think I saw 1 pot hole only, but this perticular course gets quite busy as it gets traffic both ways. I'm not using any specific plans as this year I haven't put much effort in racing and have done more group rides. Usually I know the courses pretty well I ride and have been racing for years, so I know what to do and when. About pacing... it's worth mentioning I don't train to any training plans, never have, but I do know how I feel on a day. For us heavier riders, I'd suggest, coast on flats, go hard on climbs and over climbs, recover downhilly bits and repeat. Oh and save something till the very end so you don't end up being over taken 50 m from finish line... All the best!
Hay Ragnar... I'm gceelen ! The last kilometers we had a nice head over heels... And to beat you I saw all the colors of the rainbow phew..Well then, mate, you lift me up a bit! Thank you.... until the next Beantwoorden
Well done mate. I was popped completely by the time saw you coming fast. I thought I will maybe draft you but you were just too strong and I couldn’t get the draft. Well done 🎉 I’m sure we will race again soon
Actually 14th Ragnar, the "on-screen Result board" included the one tandem. Good ride though, good speed on the flat sections, your "Team-Mate" Liam Maybank won & bagged an National Age Record. You were caught on-the-line by 71 year-old Chris Lord who also set a National Age Record. Conditions didn't look great, bur certainly fast enough for many. Great Video, good to see the course from the "bike" & prompts me to think have we got enough signs out. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. 14th Even better... yay. It was a good day racing, even if bit breezy. I was caught out couple of times, mainly shows I haven't been racing this year many times. This was my 3rd time! I got my last little wobble just by the Shell petrol station and needed to come off skis. I must say I wasn't happy when Chris overtook me 20 meters from finish line... 😉 I never noticed anyone behing me, but then again I wasn't looking either. Either way 71 year old will give us youngsters (mid 40's) all hope, we can still hammer it when older! Well organised race overall, I'm looking forward to race another couple before Thruxton. See you soon
@@global_ragnar Good ride - and love the video. I don't think it was me that caught you, it must have been Steven Cottington. I was only 39 secs quicker, so certainly didn't do you for 3 minutes! Really fascinating to compare data at different points on the course as we were pretty close on time.
Did you put a banana in your pants?
Great job! First time I raced this route was 1.5 weeks ago and I got a time of 35:31. Hope to meet you in a race someday. Should be fun.
Cheers mate, 35:31 is a good time, I only managed to do what I did, because I was sucking wheel the best I could! I'm sure we will meet! When are you planning to race next time!
@@global_ragnar Thanks for the reply. I left a teaser in your previous video. I'm a 61kg low weight but low power rider so I must admit, I have to suck wheels like a pro. Sometimes over 80% avg draft. To answer your question, I participate in almost all Muckers races but only "Race" on Thursday evening in the championship race. Others usually are training. To give you an idea for the level of these races: Last Thursday was the same route as here in the video. The winner had about the same time as here. Your time however would have put you around 40th place. To bad next championship races are mostly very hilly or mountain stages :( But we will meet eventually, I'm sure of it.

Hi! I liked your video. What a dedication to keep top and hat on, I couldn"t do that while racing on Rouvy ;-) Can a 100kg rider beat a 61kg rider in a Muckers championship race on (any) Thursday? (start at 19h05m for you?) I'll be watching out for your name ;-) (FYI I'm a top 35 to 20 racer in MCS races) To answer your question, there were 80 levels on Rouvy untill last year, then they added 20 more. Lvl 80 is legend, I might become it on Thursday. Every level requires more points to lvl up so yes, it takes some of us years!
