"Incident: Smartlynx Estonia A320 at Kolkata on Aug 30th 2024, engine shut down in flight A Smartlynx Estonia Airbus A320-200 on behalf on Indigo Airlines, registration ES-SAG performing flight 6E-573 from Kolkata to Bangalore (India) with 173 people on board, was climbing out of Kolkata's runway 19L when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet reporting the failure of the left hand engine (V2527). These are old engine flights the aircrafts may be weak cause these are borrowed aircrafts approx 12 to 13 yrs old ....sometimes it happens...

⁠@@terutaka2912 1. The age of aircraft has nothing to do with safety 2. 12-13 yrs is about half of life span of aircraft 3. ALL aircraft can fly with one failed engine.

The ATC made it worse.... The IndiGo, if did a go around, would have a chance to collide with the airborne Air India. The Air India if they had to abort the takeoff, would surely be in a collision with the IndiGo. So they both had to continue their motion with no other option.

Yeah right... sudden severe turbulences can't be controlled by the pilots.... They atleast descended to a safe altitude instantly and rapidly to prevent further incidents...

It’s not wrong. It’s pilot incompetence. They could have avoided flying into a dangerous thunderstorm zone but didn’t. Fools.

But sometimes, it is more complex than what is seen... Thunderstorm and turbulence are normal. And they were not flying through the thunderstorm, they were much above it. Turbulence can occur anywhere. A sudden severe turbulent jolt can't be predicted.

@@Diptonil_Mukherjee wrong. They were flying between two LARGE thunderstorm cells. And instead of diverting out of them thought they’d be okay flying between them which is insane.

May be this was caused by clear-air turbulence which can't be detected very well on the radar due to its low moisture content. It's caused by mainly temperature differences between layers of air in the flight path.... There are many theories to give.
