    She's got good savings for her income and is saving a reasonable amount of % too. However, take that 3k from Chip savings (which is only 30% of her savings) get rid of that credit card debt!! Then in just months of paying 300 a month (which she can afford from that surplus) she will be entirely debt free!! That feeling will be amazing

I work full time and have no student loans. Living with her has really helped me save and build wealth. I was able to save $300k in cash and looking into investment strategies. As a single person who doesn’t want to have kids it works out for me.

    Thank you for making this video. I’m pretty sure we are keeping the bank running from overdraft. It’s so embarrassing and we have kids and bills and a car loan and groceries, dance, marching band, school fees, you get it. It’s tough. We fell behind and because we are behind, we have to keep overdrafting to pay bills. We actually make decent money and we can afford all of our monthly bills. We just can’t get ahead.

    I have my emergency fund of 6 months expenses, and I can finally put £20k in the stock market (mutual funds only though, terrified of single stocks!). The only thing is that even though I have my buffer, I don't own a home, and I simply do not want to buy yet. All I can afford is a flat worht £160k in one of the counties, and nothing about that appeals with soaring ground rents, diminished income, and the tied down feeling, and the cost of commuting if i needed to work in the city. Is it ok to continue renting and still invest? Otherwise I have my money in a 4.5% interest account losing value b/c of inflation.

Honestly there's nothing wrong with a checking account or a regular savings account it's just it has no interest like a cd account does.

    Hi Veronia, thanks for the video. As someone who's 23 and just got their first graduate job these are exactly the type of videos I need right now! I was just wondering if you think it is best to prioritise paying student loans off early or not? I'm a mechanical engineer so I dont see myself ever earning a high enough wage where I would be repaying an insane amount extra in interest. Currently I have the choice of saving for a house deposit now and building a good foundation to move out, or pay down my student loan early to avoid it getting out of control. For us Scottish graduates on Plan 4 loans the threshold at the moment for repayments is around £31k so my minimum repayments are only £18 so I'm thinking I could use that extra money and save a large lump sum over the next 3 years and move out before my brother gets back from university. Open to opinions from anyone else in the comments too as I'm just really starting my financial journey now and trying to be smart about it. Would be good to hear from people who have had experience or are currently in the same situation as me. Thanks everyone!

    • @VeroniaSpaine
      @VeroniaSpaine 5 месяцев назад

      Congratulations on your first graduate job that's amazing news!! With regards to student loans, I think this will really depend on whether you want to pay it off or not and the possible benefit/consequence based on your decision. E.g. if it's going to take you longer to save for a house deposit if you prioritise the loan, would you be okay with that and vice versa? I hope that helps!

    • @PTR2K
      @PTR2K 5 месяцев назад

      @@VeroniaSpaine thanks! I think prioritising student loans will definitely delay my ability to move out by about 3-4 years so I think personally I might just consider my student loan repayments a “graduate tax” of sorts. I think my conflict comes from watching US based videos and by the sounds of it their student loan repayments can be in the hundreds of dollars per month. I think that’s maybe why they put so much emphasis on paying off the loans asap. I do plan to repay them at some point but I think even if it costs a bit extra in interest the freedom of being able to move out and start my own life is worth that. Thanks again for your videos! Definitely motivating to see other people doing well budgeting wise

    • @VeroniaSpaine
      @VeroniaSpaine 5 месяцев назад

      Yes with US loans they are completely different, if you lose your job you still have to pay them back. Whereas the student loan system is completely different here!!
