Blue Turtle Cruising
США
Добавлен 5 июн 2012
After a decade of living aboard a trawler full time, we decided it was time for something new … Cruising full time while learning to sail! Welcome aboard! We're Kim and Randy and we're cruising the east coast of the U.S. with our pup, Sophie, on a 1978 CSY 44' sailboat.

Sailing and Cruising the Abacos Islands, Bahamas | Blue Turtle Cruising
In early 2024, the Blue Turtle crew made their first trip to the Bahamas. We spent about 2 months cruising the Abacos Islands. We wanted to visit other areas such as the Exumas, but the weather wasn't cooperating the time we were there. Still, the Abacos were amazing and we had the best time island hopping. Our son, Corey, flew in for a long weekend to enjoy some sailing with us as well. Our buddy boat, SV Minx, was super helpful in pointing out the best anchorages, sights to see, etc. I think it's safe to say that Blue Turtle crew will be visiting the Bahamas again in the future.

Summer residence in Delaware City - Having our Perkins engine hauled out and rebuilt
Просмотров 939 месяцев назад
After spending 6 weeks in Annapolis getting our transmission rebuilt, we headed north anchoring in the Bohemia River. The next day, we transited the C&D Canal and came out on the Delaware River. Our plan was to cruise out Delaware Bay onto the Atlantic and make it to New York and New England, where we would spend the summer. Unfortunately, summer had other plans for us. Our engine started knock...
Stuck in Annapolis with the Transmission Blues

Here are some snippets from our 6 weeks stuck in Annapolis with a busted transmission. We had the transmission pulled out, rebuilt (by Transatlantic Diesel) and reinstalled. It was lengthy and costly project, hence the title "Transmission Blues." BLOG: blueturtlecruising.com/annapolis-and-the-transmission-blues FACEBOOK: blueturtlecruising INSTAGRAM: blueturtlecruisin...
Hampton, VA to Annapolis, MD | Point Lookout State Park | Blue Angels Air Show | Chesapeake Bay
Просмотров 136Год назад
After our stay in Hampton, it was time to move on. We had a couple days of lumpy seas with head winds blowing 15-25 knots. We end up aborting our plan to head to Solomons Island and duck into Cornfield Harbor to anchor near Point Lookout State Park. Since it was early in the day, we went to shore to explore this historic area located at the tip of St. Mary's County where the Chesapeake Bay and ...
ICW to Chesapeake Bay: Beaufort, NC to Hampton,VA | Sailboat Cruising
Просмотров 198Год назад
After we left Beaufort, NC, we cruised north on the ICW through the Bay and Pamlico Rivers to the Pungo River/Alligator River Canal across the Albemarle Sound. From there, we dock for the night at the free docks on the east side of the Great Bridge and Lock in Chesapeake, VA. Once we pass through the lock, we navigate the through the container ships and naval fleet (and a submarine!), past Norf...

Celebrating 11 Years Living Aboard Full Time | Living aboard a trawler | Living aboard a sailboat
Просмотров 159Год назад
11 years ago, Randy and I made a decision that would greatly change and impact our lives for the better. We purchased a 1974 Defever Passagemaker trawler and quickly learned that life would never be the same. A wonderful world opened up for us as we lived aboard our boat full time and cruised all over Southwest Florida, the Keys and Dry Tortugas. We lived aboard our trawler, Blue Turtle, for 9....
Third time's a charm - Doing Charleston, SC right! ~ Charleston Historic District & USS Yorktown
Просмотров 174Год назад
The last 2 times we visited Charleston, it was only for a couple of days. We really didn’t get to spend much time exploring the city and its historic buildings and streets. Since we had a full week, we had plenty of time to walk all over the downtown area. And boy, did we walk! With Sophie in her stroller, we clocked about 25 miles in just the first 3 days there. We were able to explore most of...
Exploring Beaufort, South Carolina - Historic homes, live oaks and lowcountry charm - ICW Northbound
Просмотров 185Год назад
On our previous stops in Beaufort, SC, we only stayed a day or two which really only gave us time to checkout the beautiful waterfront park and nearby shops. This time, we stayed about a week and it was nice to have that extra time to explore this cruiser-friendly town some more. After hunkering down through a 2 day cold front, we finally got off the boat to explore the huge mansions that line ...

This video brought back so man1. y good memorable times from my sailing days years ago, especially on the Abacos trips with a friend on their Endeavour 40. Fun times in Hope Town Harbor and Nippers Thanks for the great Bahamas scenery and those amazing colors.
I have a 1979 CSY 44. Last year my old, original Perkins 4-154 gave up the ghost. I ended up replacing it with a Beta Marine 60. This year I am having trouble finding insurance. Would you share who you use?
A very sick if not dead reef
This is where i day cruise all the time!
Now that you are on a sailboat, Does this work as well on the sailboat?
Yes! I hook it to the mast on the front of the boat.
5 Stars !!!!!!!!
Promo*SM 💋
Great memories!!
Great 👍
Corgi was the best part of video
I’m know she was adorable
Looks like a good time to me. Where do I get a ticket.😊
Nice
looking good guys, Merry Christmas 🎅🎄🌴🍷
That was our home, full time. A difficult thing when you have no bridges, stores, mail, nothing! 50% surcharge on your electricity. My husband lied in the Beulah alberty house- part of his land condemnation process in 70/s when it was made into a national park. Long story… Always nice to go back and look and see videos. A moment in time.
I don’t see part 2
Wow, very cool! We love Cumberland Island. So beautiful there. There isn't a Part 2 of the video. The "To be continued..." is just a reference to our next cruising video of our travels.
Thanks for the look at the Chesapeake. We miss that area even though we saw it long ago and before our boat lives. Fred
What a clean , well edited And informative. I do . More important It told the story,,⛵️ good job. PAPA D
Much appreciated!
We're getting ready to attics on norfolk from the dismal swamp and I'm curious whet you anchored in Norfolk. What a scary scene to come back and see that your boat dragged! Ugh
Hi Amy, we anchored at Hospital Point near Tidewater Marina and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
@@blueturtlecruising well that's good to know cause that was a spot we were considering. Thank you!
@@amykrizmanic5768 Yeah, I would consider a marina for that area. We prefer anchorages but after that experience I wouldn't anchore there again. Later in the same day as our incident another boat there drug anchor and had to be rescued by Norfolk Police.
@@blueturtlecruising we can through the dismal swamp and decided to stay at the dock by the deep creek lock. Happy sailing!
Nice colours inside...i prefer the other one model...motor??'..very well maintenend!!!
I’m a sucker for a clipper bow. Your CSY is a great looking boat.
Thank you!
Great video! Enjoyed meeting you 3;)
Thanks! You too!
Beautiful
Kim, Great video of my favorite city! Good seeing you in Marineland. Enjoy your adventure and see you on the Blue Highway! Danielle
Thank you! We loved St. Augustine and could've stayed longer. Hope to see you guys soon!
We have a Maltese How does your dog fare??
Our dog does well. She's been living on a boat for 10 years out of her 12 years of age.
Love it! We have a CSY 44 as well. Still at dock but preparing to leave for Bahamas in late October

Nice video. Brought back some old but good memories. I dove that wreck back in the late 70's when I was living in the Lower Keys between 78/81. I was on a sailboat with 3 other people but nobody wanted to dive so I did it alone.
Very cool video☺️ safe travels and have a Grateful Day... Subscribed👍🏻
amazing
The Bottlenose dolphin is my favorite dolphin species because I'm a fan of flipper
Is this snorkeling right from the shore?
Whia
wow, Kim, that is *amazing*!!! Thanks for catching a video of them!!
That reef is blanketed in algae...ever see any elkhorn or staghorn out in the Tortugas?
This is one of my favorite dive spots in Key West. A lot of dive operators don't like going here since the visibility is not so great, but the diversity of life here is unmatched.
Amazing!
Reef sharks?
Absolutely stunning!!!
so awesome god bless!
I have one just like it at Oyster Cove Marina in South San Francisco. I would like to contact you about some things if you want to share info.
