The Recreational Pilot
Добавлен 10 июл 2021
Welcome to The Recreational Pilot. This channel is about my journey as a new Private pilot. My ultimate goal is to fly professionally, but I have to start somewhere. I am a full-time Steelworker who flies whenever I am able to, so I may not upload as much as the other channels who have more freedom. This channel will highlight my journey as a new Private pilot as I aim towards my Commercial license and other certificates. I hope you enjoy the content on my channel.
First Flight in a Month! Cold Weather Start and In-Flight Mechanical Failure
After a month of being grounded I finally got the the hangar to do some flying with my Buddy Steven. With below freezing temperatures and an inflight mechanical failure it was definitely an interesting flight.

Early morning commute, Commercial training, and a late night Cross Country!!

After getting my plane early in the morning I did Commercial training with Devin then did a long night Cross Country. One of the many benefits of being an aircraft owner is being able to make your own schedule and fly when it best suits you. No fighting for rental spots and finding a place to rent in the first place. @pilotd

During this video I'm going to go over 2 different mishaps during 2 separate night flights and the lessons learns from them
Dad doesn't know I'm a licensed pilot, so I took him flying!!

I started flight training on March 20th 2020, on July 20th 2022 I finally completed my Private Pilot Check Ride. The thing is I never informed my dad that I did and decided to surprise him by taking him flying under the ruse that it would only be a High Speed Taxi for maintenance.
Your dad looks like he knows you are a pilot... somehow.
great stuff haha :). And Hi chat. Enjoy your day.
Is you're aircraft up for sale?
It was sold back in February. I'll be making an update video at some point, haven't posted in a while.
Can you tell me how exactly this was a surprise until lift off? I mean, they were sitting inside a plane and on the runway. How did he not expect his son to have a pilot's license? Sorry if this is a dumb question
you just cucked your dad
"Uh, Dad. One fun thing I forgot to tell you." Vader: I LIED.
great stuff!
Your old man is so proud and enjoying every second! My dad passed away a couple of months ago and I would love he would have been so proud of me as your dad is of you!
That is awesome! Congrats and props to your dad for being so cool about it. Love his reaction. I never got to learning to fly. All that radio stuff always kept me away. I understand half of what rhey say and it all goes too fast for me. Having ADHD doesn't help lol. The flying itself seems a lot of fun so it's a shame really. I'm just not meticulous enough with following procedures which is pretty much a sin in this kind of business. I'll just stick to driving. 😂
I love the sneaky requesting takeoff clearance when he was fiddling with his dad's squelch, that was fantastic.
Shame he experienced it all through two camera screens rather than in the moment.
5:10... Smooth as hell lol
a good dad. happy gadget dad. i love him. a plane is a gadget don’t forget.
dying when dad started double fisting the cameras just wanting to show everyone lol!
stupidest fucking title ever
Omg your dad looked so proud when you took off 🤧👌💕
unrelated but I have the same shirt as your dad
What a sweet surprise precious dad
Bro, I live less than 20 minutes away from the Connelsville Airport. I didn't realize you were that close to me.
Connellsville pa? Fayette county ? Take me for a ride lol
Yo it is thats hilarious he said speedy meedys lol
is it just me or why would I as a dad get on board with my son just taxying on some airport like an idiot? That's just silly right? I would definately have suspected something.
That's beautiful! I'm a stay at home mom of 3 and for some reason I am drawn to get my private pilots license sometime this lifetime
Why mics on plane always sound like crap in this era...
Oh look more "you totally know i'm a pilot but we're going to fake it for youtube" videos. Can't believe these fool anyone.
I also don't understand. What was the point of them being in the plane and getting up to the runway if not to fly off? What's the "dad didn't know"-part here???!
Dad needs more hands. I also wouldn't trust anyone I know if they said they were a pilot, dad never once doubted when told
How special. Kudos! Love the radio not working trick lol. I was going to say I just saw that video of the guy taking his friend and then this popped up! What a proud dad with that camera. Congrats love these type of videos ❤
Damn dad was just recording didn’t even talk that blows
👍👍👍
Glad to see morgan wallen turn his act around
um just wrecked his plane , this is a bad look , llololols youtube views is more important than your fam you base b**** , know your stall speeds so maybe next time you dont wreck loser
Notice how comfortable dad is with his sons newly found ability!
Your dad too busy with the camera and his phone to just be in the moment. 😢
he really seems to enjoy cameras!
So fixed,his dad knew
That is as “dad” as reactions go 😂 love it
Dude you're eating the mic, move it off your lips lmfao
Great video... I should have done that with my dad after I got my pilot's license because he always dreamed of becoming a pilot like his dad was. I've been flying since 1982... My dad died in 1988 and he never had the guts to go flying with me. I don't know why.
Cant believe these things STILL use leaded fuel even though we have long since figured out how bad the stuff is.
I’m sure you are a nice guy but I look forward to congress passing a bill to forbid pilots on duty to film their ego driven stuff. I have no respect for such thing especially with passengers.
My dad knows I know what I am doing. I took him on a flight. Personally, with a title like yours it sounds like your dad would be scared. I hate seeing cool creators click bait. Just be your honest self from the start bud.
POV dad DID YOU JUST SAY FLUL PUMP OFF
Take the mic out of your mouth.
At 10:41 I teared up. Dad's so proud.
Only other fathers can fully appreciate the feeling that his dad was having and the 2 recording device thing he was doing was absolutely the best part of this video.
The whole time I was thinking 'His mike is fine he just needs it closer to his mouth. Why are you being weird about it.' Then it clicked when you unplugged his headset while announcing takeoff. That was clean.
His dad act just like my mom trying to use her phone lol
What a mature and confident young man. Hats off to his parents.
You fly literally right down the road from me. I have always wanted to fly. Your inspirational.
I think you need to get your dad some more cameras. I’m worried he might miss the event
why he got his pts on lol
