First Flight in a Month! Cold Weather Start and In-Flight Mechanical Failure
After a month of being grounded I finally got the the hangar to do some flying with my Buddy Steven. With below freezing temperatures and an inflight mechanical failure it was definitely an interesting flight.

Early morning commute, Commercial training, and a late night Cross Country!!
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.2 года назад
After getting my plane early in the morning I did Commercial training with Devin then did a long night Cross Country. One of the many benefits of being an aircraft owner is being able to make your own schedule and fly when it best suits you. No fighting for rental spots and finding a place to rent in the first place. @pilotd

Dad doesn't know I'm a licensed pilot, so I took him flying!!
Просмотров 1,5 млн2 года назад
I started flight training on March 20th 2020, on July 20th 2022 I finally completed my Private Pilot Check Ride. The thing is I never informed my dad that I did and decided to surprise him by taking him flying under the ruse that it would only be a High Speed Taxi for maintenance.

      This is something I had to plan ahead of time. My dad has been working on our local airfield for 20 years at this point. He knows the lingo and what the call outs mean. What made it better is that his mic actually was cutting out through the video. Turns out he was wearing his headset backward, and his mic was down by his chin, and the audio wasn't getting picked up. That's why it looks like we are eating our mics all the time because it won't pick up our voices if we don't. I'm happy with how it turned out and I can't believe it's been over 2 years since this happened.

    🎉may i ask what it would roughly cost to get a pilot license and lets say u practice like twice a week how long does it take? For some reason im more attractive to helicopter. But owning a plane or heli is def not a financial option. But i would love to fly.

  • @shujayethossain6554

    Is it better than a Cessna 150?

    • @TheRecreationalPilot
      @TheRecreationalPilot 3 месяца назад

      @shujayethossain6554 Basically, in every aspect, yes. Only this that 150 has is that they're more common, so find mechanics and instructors will be easier to find, and it'll be easier to find one for sale. Other than that, the Tomahawk is better in basically every aspect. They're a lot cheaper than the 150, performs much better, more comfortable to fly, carries more, goes further, flies faster, you name it. Fuel use is a bit more since it has a slightly larger engine, but even with the 125hp upgrade, you're burning 5.5 - 6 gal/hr. In colder climates, you can get about 1,000 ft/min climb rate as long as you're not pushing your useful load. It is, in my opinion, a much better aircraft than the 150.

    • @shujayethossain6554
      @shujayethossain6554 3 месяца назад

      Thank you! Does it require a PPL to fly? What should be a good price for a good condition right now?

    • @TheRecreationalPilot
      @TheRecreationalPilot 3 месяца назад

      @shujayethossain6554 PPL yes, it is in the same class as the Cessna 150's. Anywhere from $40,000 - $50,000. There are a few higher in price, though for that much I'd rather spend 80k on a Cherokee 180, though this is all personally preference as a 180 might be more plane than you need/want. This would be mind bogglingly high in price 4 years ago, but like everything else in this administrations economy, it skyrocketed in price. If you have the budget, spend the extra on one that has the 125hp engine upgrade. This is the best upgrade you can buy, in my opinion, as the 112hp stock engine can be a bit underwhelming. Just note that it does reduce the TBO from 2,400 hrs to 2,000 hrs. So be aware of that when buying one with a higher time engine. Basic avionics is all you need, but I would 100% prefer a dual Garmin G5 setup with a good ADS-B Out Transponder, Garmin GTX 335. For a little extra you can get the 345 woth ADS-B In, when linking your iPad's foreflight to it, it is a game changer flying, though there are portable receivers for cheap, but not as reliable and is for reference use only. To add, this is a light airframe, so IFR flying is not recommended, but having the ability for a pop-up IFR to get through clouds is doable, but nothing more is recommended.

    • @shujayethossain6554
      @shujayethossain6554 3 месяца назад

      Wonderful! Actually, I want to o get a PPL and want to buy a plane to get the hours for cheap. I am confused between Cessna 150, Tomahawk, Tiger, Yankee, and Vans RV. I need the one that is cheapest to operate and insure.

    • @TheRecreationalPilot
      @TheRecreationalPilot 3 месяца назад

      @shujayethossain6554 Another thing I forgot to mention is to get a 1979 model. The 1978 model was the first iteration and has more ADs/headaches than the 1979 model. So get a 1979 over any other year

    I get why this is a heartwarming video , that being said I think it should be air law that all passengers are expressly informed that they are about to become airborne prior to a takeoff. To propel someone thousands of feet into the air without asking them seems a bit contrary to constitutional rights as an individual , you know what I'm saying? Also it's a good idea to get your front seat passenger to put their hands in there lap on takeoff and landing , if that one unexpected gust happens at a critical phase of flight you don't want anything impeding your yoke inputs. Sorry if I came off as a bummer and a stickler , congrats on becoming part of the real 1%.
