Sevenly Reward
Просмотров 4803 года назад
'Sevenly Reward' is a snare drum/bass drum/hi hat solo I commissioned from Bob Becker. It is based on Etude #7 from his 'Rudimental Arithmetic' method book. I had been gently nudging Bob for a few years to see if we would be willing to compose me a drum kit type solo. I was very excited when he called to tell me he had an idea - to add kick drum and hi hat to an existing snare solo from his met...

Morris Palter Intro and Subdivision Exercises
VERY nicely done! A majorly fluid and easy-appearing performance (but not easy) with a wonderful driving energy. Kudos to MP. 👍
Thanks for the kind words!
Great piece; great performance! I was lucky enough to hear Steve Schick and Maya Beiser play this on tour in Cleveland, and when I tried to get the score, Golijov had pulled it for "revisions." Glad it's back out there now.
Great piece, well played...but here's the thing that the classical and contemporary classical set just don't get...when the fuck to get outta there!! I counted at least 6 codas. They could learn a ton+ by listening and tuning in a bit more to commercial and jazz music form. But you definitely had me for the first 5mins & 30secs
Greetings from Rio...and well played. An excellent recording ably enhancing some great performance dynamics.
Great piece, and great recording!!
Awesome!
Great methods and teaching thank you.
Hey, thanks. Much appreciated!
Wow I realy love the way you teach!!! Your speach is also realy easy to understand for the Canadian (Québec) that I am!! I love brushes in jazz!!
Thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated!
Great stuff man! Your explanation was really clear and useful! I'll defentely watch your other videos
Maybe a little Higher tuning of the snare drum would improve the Sound by adding more brightness, or maybe a New skin ?
Sound to me a Bit better using a Stick for the rimclicks in the left Hand.
Your "full contact" approach to brush playing IS really amazing and very helpful to get a good brush Sound.
Excellent video. Thanks to your suggestion, I searched and found Philly Joe's book on-line and downloaded a PDF. It looks to me that his "Smooth One" just has the left hand contacting the head from right to left, then lifting to return right. Am I misinterpreting that?
You are indeed misinterpreting it, the return stroke (or broken arrow) is a thick line meaning the brush is ON the drums. Thin broken arrows mean OFF the drums. Hope this helps :)
Great video.I love your brush work. Philly was the man.
Great and usefull lesson! Many thanks!!!
Great performance!
I can watch this over and over...awesome!
