    So, this is a very comprehensive account of the evolution of Deutz tractors but I was hoping to hear how the name 'Deutz' came to be! What is the meaning of the word?

    • @DeutzFarmer96
      @DeutzFarmer96 6 дней назад

      It's a name, an old aristocratic Prussian family. There is also a German city named Deutz, which is based on an old High German word "Diot" meaning "people" or "folk". But, the "Deutz" in Klöckner Humboldt Deutz comes from the business of Nikolaus August Otto, Deutz AG, which was named after the Deutz district of Cologne in Germany, where the company was established.

    Love the design of these they looked great and I'm sure were awesome on fuel but BUYER Beware!!! These were build off a (Hinomoto brand), rebraned just with different sheet metal, paint scheme, decals and company name, same as AC, Deutz, as well as the Simplicity 9518s. I had a Allis 5015... Literally ZERO Engine parts available, When i did some research after owning mine i found out the Hinomoto engine company went under a few years after making these. So... I looked 3 years for a rebuild kit. Impossible. A guy on the Unofficial AC forum for almost 10 years then he found a NOS one. But his had a Factory dealership Cab w/ wiper and heat on it, along with loader and other factory attachments. The rest of the tractor has little too nothing available. unless you go thru Agco and they want Insane $$$ Per usual. Parts tractors is about the only thing u can do... or repower it w/ an adaptor plate etc. Figured i'd mention this! Since they are not super well known... Also Satoh S370 tractors. Same dealio. Just sold mine a month ago. no parts are available. The last company went under. Southern Global Tractor about the only place to find anything brand New, eBay, or NOS. Really good sales advert though!

    Why do you call your hayloft a mow? Is it a Wisconsin thing? I occasionally miss our old dairy barn. Then I hear stories like yours and chuckle... Nope, the barn is gone and that's fine. I see its exterior tongue & groove boards inside our house on the walls, everyday. Our barn was considerably older and slightly smaller. We kept the horse stalls in it until the bitter end. Best of luck with your repairs.

    • @DeutzFarmer96
      @DeutzFarmer96 6 дней назад

      I do not know. It could be a regional thing. The area i am from is mostly German immigrants, at least the farming communities, and that's pretty much exclusively what it is called around here. But younger generations, and people further south in Wisconsin call it a hay loft. Haymow is just a more generalized term. A hay loft is always above the main section of a barn, but a haymow can either by above the barn, or a dedicated room within the barn.

    The funny thing is, these were marketed as mid tier options under the Magnum line, but the 100-170 horsepower range was your standard workhorses on most farms in my area through the 1990s.

      That is funny. Even now, most of the people i know do not have many tractors above 170HP. And if they do, they are often articulated 4x4s that they use specifically for spring tillage.

    Hi, very good video, I was wondering if you were going to restore this barn for storage or to put cows back in? This video brought back many memories of my youth where when I was younger I also grew up on a dairy farm which is now closed...Since that day I have always dreamed of restoring one of its old abandoned barns, this building has so many stories that it must not be left to rot. When I can afford it, I will buy one of these dairy barns and put it back into service.

    • @DeutzFarmer96
      @DeutzFarmer96 21 день назад

      I have hope that at some point i will have animals in this barn again. I do not know in what capacity, but that is also my hope. Small dairy farms are a huge part of the heritage of Wisconsin, and i would like to preserve our last barn in that spirit.

    It's sad that Wisconsin has lost all its small dairy farms. Most of the farmers I knew fell into that first category. The older generation of farmers made farming such a miserable experience, that their kids left the farm as soon as they could, and never came back.
