    I've always wondered about the repeats in these exercises. I'm fairly sure it says that all 60 exercises should take an hour to get through, but how is that possible with the amount of repeats they suggest one plays?

    I’ve always wondered why czerny didnt bother to make his etudes sound a little more melodic and even “musical.” Sure, he has millions of etudes…but I don’t think one needs a hundred etudes on the same exact technique…

    Sorry for my inadequate English. I leave a short comment here before ericastier and others without knowledge tell you that Wim Winters’ double beat is the correct tempo. He needs 50 seconds. Kemruji, 9 years old play this in 32 seconds. It is of course illogical that children play this demanding piece faster than the virtuoso Czerny himself. (Demanding in Czerny ‘s own tempo)

    Excellent rendition of this Czerny piece. I am actually working on it and while I will not be able to play it at the required speed it’s an excellent study that will improve dexterity, fourth and fifth fingers strengthening and arpeggios.

    The real tempo confirms this may not be the right tempo to play these pieces. They were made for initial players, not virtuosistic pianists.

      In this record a performer plays this piece with roughly the same tempo as indicated on the score. What exactly did you mean?

      @@victormushtin I think "The School of Velocity" is a book for begginer pianists. Am I right? That tempo is crazy for a begginer, even for a more experienced performer. Or velocity is a fact to judge a pianist? Are we musical athletes? I wonder

      @@thepianofoundation im sorry if i came off as offensive. of course you are allowed, but in my opinion you dont contribute alot (only my useless opinion, it is rather ironic that i contribute nothing as well with this comment but, alas) Maybe you can spice it up (????) reharmonize the bass line just for fun(??). This is all my opinion. But still, its not the most interesting video in the world beacuse there are so many of them already out there. But of course you are allowed to do anything you want as long as its within the youtube guidelines, and even then i cant really do anything to stop you.

    actually it's a romantic myth. He could not sight read op. 10. Nevertheless he practiced them for about two weeks and then gave an astonishing performance which is still very impressive

    That would've been an amazing feat. However, many legends attributed to Liszt have come up to be just that: legends. My feeling is that this story is another one.
