I thought that classing the city center as being in Ladywood was wrong, but after looking at the areas' constituency mapping, the overall name given to virtually all of the central and eastern part of the city is Ladywood, so in saying that, almost all of the areas shown here could be considered as being the Ladywood, I used to live on St Vincent St West and thought that the estate was just the local blocks, houses, and schools too. As for the final clip showing Lozells, the picture where you show three teenage boys standing near some blocks of flats is actually on New John St West and I do believe that this street is in Newtown, not Lozells, although they are neighbouring areas. The flats to the left of the picture are still there, but the ones in the distance, slightly to the right of the center, have since been demolished. The buildings to the right of the picture, I believe, have also now gone, probably to allow widening of the road over the years. But other than that, thanks for this item as it brings back memories.

I mean the charts you showed show violent crime rates going down. Which is actually true. It's just certain parts of the media have an agenda. I went to college in London in a fairly dodgy area, with a number of gangs, (and gang crime has risen to be fair, in line with growing poverty) and the only real issues are what gangs do in like run down unlit parks or sleazy clubs in the middle of the night. As long as you aren't involved in a gang, and have some basic street smarts it's safe, but if you just listened to the press you'd think there was a mugger or someone waiting to randomly attack strangers around every corner. It's just doom and gloom nonsense put forward by those with an agenda to scare people into blaming vulnerable people for all their ills instead of the mass scale corruption in the country. HS2 (which should have been built decades ago, as we invented trains FFS) cost over 60 billion (over 40 billion more than they said it would cost) for 130 miles of track over relatively mild terrain, yet in France and Italy, they are building a line that is around 170 miles long goes from Turin to Lyon which is going to go through the Alps for 25 billion in Euros. It's no wonder our public services are in ruins and poverty is rising when 40 billion pounds can just disappear out of public funds, and gets no attention, no public investigation. Same goes for things like football clubs and 100s of millions of pounds disappearing when they cook their books. And yet the press focuses on thieves nicking tens of thousands of champagne or something like that. I mean that's still bad right, but it's no wonder the police can't respond when consecutive chancellors turn a blind eye to tens of billions (if not over 100 billion) disappearing from public funds into off shore bank accounts, whist everyone else is expected to pay taxes else the tax man comes after you, but not them, not the people taking the country for a ride.
