    The audience is for Nintendo fans. It's a luxury item, so no one's forced to buy it lol it's been selling very well especially in Japan! It's pretty much a clock with several features aside from the Alarm to enhance the vibe of your room with hourly chimes to tell the hour or just to have sounds like the nature ambience from breath of the wild.

      @SimplyNerdy 6 дней назад

      Koji Kondo is deservedly iconic, but I find myself consistently less driven to listen to his music outside the context of the games they play in. There are a few notable exceptions - Super Mario Galaxy being foremost among them - but my experience has generally been this: while his compositions are an indispensable part of the in-game experience, that doesn’t necessarily translate to music I want to listen to just for listening’s sake.

    • @SimplyNerdy
      @SimplyNerdy 6 дней назад

      Also, Nishiki was the composer behind Octopath Traveler. That soundtrack positively blew me away and consequently rocketed Nishiki straight to the highest tier of composing excellence in my mind.

    From what I'm seeing, Nintendo fans seem to be pretty happy playing the new Paper Mario or the latest Warframe update or the newest Xenoblade, and that Nintendo isn't hurrying to shove the insanely popular Switch that's well supported by third parties, into the dark corner of "last gen console" and rush out a Switch 2 that'll struggle to sell from zero units all over again, and struggle to get third party support all over again, and struggle to build up a virtual console library from the start all over again, and suffer under constant detraction from PC/Xbox/Sony elitists trying to cow third parties away from putting games on it all over again.

  • @patrykzukowski7471
    @patrykzukowski7471 11 дней назад

    I'm 10+ hours in, and at first it was a 9/10 game to me, but the more I play the less the game demands from me. The echo system rarely asks me to get even 10% creative, usually beds or water cubes are the answer to "problems", because those "problems" are hardly problems to begin with. Real problems are few and far between, sometimes there are none, most of the time they're exactly the same and similarly non-thought provoking. Unfortunely this is not a wisely crafted experience, it's an experience with a lot of wasted potential.

    • @SimplyNerdy
      @SimplyNerdy 10 дней назад

      We’re going to have to agree to disagree on that. 🙂 But I do have one question: have you tried playing on Hero Mode?

    • @patrykzukowski7471
      @patrykzukowski7471 9 дней назад

      @@SimplyNerdy Yes. The fights are a bit better, but it doesnt change a thing when it comes to puzzles or rather the lack of them. Can I ask you a question? Where do you see opportunities that force you to get creative? 95% of the time I use water cubes and flying floor tiles, because climbing and crosding chasms is most of what this game asks you to do. Sure, once in a while there will be a legit puzzle, but it's extremely rare.

    cosmere animated would just fit so much better. imagine how stupid and ugly it would be to see CGI painspren etc. And the interesting races/ethnicities in all the different places would look so much better in animation

    • @Cringleneck_Macforwardstare
      @Cringleneck_Macforwardstare 12 дней назад

      I get your point but real adoration of a piece of art tends to push boundaries instead of stay within them. Not everyone is as big a fan of animation as you are. Restricting the favourable perception of the creation of art to a narrow field is the creative equivalent of a rhetorical question.

    • @WholeBitThe
      @WholeBitThe 12 дней назад

      @Cringleneck_Macforwardstare brother I'm not a huge fan of animation. Im saying that the tech isn't there, we can't have kaladin flying through the sky or see someone of the Nth heightening in the quality it deserves, in live action. You've gotta remember that these worlds are not earth, they are different from earth in nearly every way, there's so many massive, fantastical and epic things in the cosmere. That means CGI GROUND, CGI SKY, CGI PEOPLE, CGI SPREN, CGI POWERS, CGI EVERYTHING. I say animation is better because it has the most potential to do right by the source material. I get the sense you're either a young person with a thesaurus and an old soul, or you're an older person who thinks animation is for children. There is plenty of high quality art in the form of animation.

    • @Cringleneck_Macforwardstare
      @Cringleneck_Macforwardstare 12 дней назад

      @@WholeBitThe I can imagine animation but that doesn't make it beautiful. You're more a "eye of the beholder" person in this argument but I want MORE beauty, something I can't imagine and haven't seen done a dozen times before. DreamWorks Prince of Egypt, Atlantis, the Lion King, Castlevania, I get it.

      @ZeraSoul stop ✋️ just stop ✋️ dude I bet Sony bought a switch and bought every Mario game played thru each one and took their ideas verbatim. This is not it's similar it has not one original idea!

    • @SimplyNerdy
      @SimplyNerdy 21 день назад

      I would argue that this is not a bad thing. In our video, I made the argument that originality is not a prerequisite to excellence. Astro Bot is, by the strictest definition of the word, not in the least bit original. Instead, it built upon an established and proven foundation and - I would argue - IMPROVED on it. This is exactly the kind of game design I want. Don’t get me wrong - I don’t want everything to be a Mario wannabe from now on - but I strongly argue that originality is NOT always a virtue, and imitation is NOT always a vice. So, Astro Bot may very much be Sony’s “Mario”, if you will, right down to the game design elements themselves. But is that really a bad thing? Iteration is the soul of invention. If everyone in history had decided they couldn’t copy the wheel because someone else had already invented it, we’d still be in the stone ages. Building on the excellence of the past is what has given us the accomplishments of the present. With that in mind, I will argue again: Astro Bot is a modern masterpiece.

    My 12 year old howled along with the kids in the audience at Sanderson’s livestream reading. Days later, he is still talking about how ridiculous it was. (We are still on the fence about buying it… he’s otherwise reading Watership Down, so it’s not a reading issue.) If I had a toddler or a preschooler, Id definitely buy it! I2I is my 2nd favorite on the album cause it’s a perfect cover and sounds incredible but for me there was 1 song that passed it and is my absolute favorite and that’s Colors of the wind. This game looks really good and a fantastic return to form for Sony. I disagree that Sony has a lack of good platformers and/or mascots. It's just that they have foolishly abandoned their popular franchises with their latest few consoles. Back in the PS2 days, I would argue Sony had the best 3D platformers, hands down. You mention Spyro and Crash Banticoot, but the best of the genre were Jak and Daxter, Rachet and Clank, Sly Cooper, and Prince of Persia. Any one of those beat Mario Odyssey any day of the week, IMO. This game looks a lot like Rachet and Clank meets something like Mario Odyssey or Kirby, and I love it. Unfortunately, I don't have a PS5 currently.

    • @SimplyNerdy
      @SimplyNerdy Месяц назад

      You’re entitled to your wrong opinions. 😜😂 I forgot about Jak and Daxter though! It really is a shame they let that series die. I personally wouldn’t put it above the likes of Super Mario Odyssey, but I would definitely agree that it stands proudly among the genre’s finest.

    I am getting kinda sick of everybody calling this a "2D" game. Having a fixed camera in an overhead perspective *doesn't make this 2D.* Now, clearly this has 3D graphics. But it doesn't have 2D gameplay, either, because it has a functional Z axis. You can sail over gaps, you can stack echoes to gain height, and enemies probably adhere to 3D hitboxes. Perhaps you don't care whether 2D graphics still exist, but stop calling 3D games "2D." Call it retro, whimsical, stylized, chibi, top-down, or even fixed camera. Just not 2D.

      i think 2d zelda =/= 2d game. most ppl use "2d zelda" to refer to top-down, "traditional"-style zelda games - even the links awakening remake was and has been called "2d zelda" for a while now. it's a 3d game, but a 2d zelda game, if that makes sense? it's sort of like it's own franchise-specific genre, or a term coined by fans to make the distinction between the two types of zelda more specific. everyone knows this is actually made with 3d assets

      I’ve never heard the criticism that every Zelda game is the same, and they aren’t. People love Zelda because of the innovation per game. Different art styles, sailing, motion control, time traveling, wolf link.. The change now is that they’re ditching the puzzle box design in dungeons. If anything this is the main disappointment/complaint. No one minds an open world as long as the puzzles are actually challenging and dungeons engaging. They consistently haven’t been in the last few iterations, so people are worried

      Rather, we’re talking about both! Tears of the Kingdom seems like a clear inspiration for Echoes of Wisdom’s newly-announced Bind and Reverse Bind mechanics. You don’t have as much freedom as in TOTK, but the potential outside-the-box applications of Bind and Reverse Bind seem positively mind-bending.
